DJ: Steve Johnson's role to expand

I'd like to see DJ and Shanahan in contest, to see who goes the longest without blinking. -
C64. That was a fine computer. I was a complete dud with the Infocom stuff. Wife was a determined ace. Did you ever read the late Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker books? What a scream. The movie of a few years ago was strictly for the readers of same. Marvin...and the praying mantis that scoured the Universe forever to personally insult each and every inhabitant....the Crikkets... What an imagination that man had!

Infocom. The Zorks, Hitchhikers's Guide to The Galaxy, Bureaucracy, et al. My wife was a big, big fan. She used to use poster pads to pencil in maps and such to trace the games' twists and turns. We still have a lot of their DOS s/w, some yet to be used. About 10 years ago, I came across a collection - The Lost Treasures of Infocom.

Statistical analysis of football
stuckincincy replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Average drive starting position, for your team and the opponent. BUF's ST performance the past several years masked a lot of fundamental deficiencies IMO. Along with the Cover-2 stuff, which attenuated things. Finishing up the last 10 games 2 and 8 (albeit with those two rotten weather games) wasn't encouraging. I think they got figured out and dealt with. 0-6 in the division, all after the 5 - 1 start. Ugh. It will be interesting to see how the '09 rule changes affecting the STs will play out, for BUF and everybody else. -
There you have it folks, the season revealed

Half of the games are on the road. The other half - home. 7 divided by 2 is 3.5. The Magic Number is always out there. We cannot escape it. -
Breakout Team Predictions for 2009

Get a job with the current Administration. They are looking for folks that use that equation. -
Continental and Delta provide that information on their web sites. Others, I can't say. My wife flies quite a bit with Delta, and they go out of their way to make sure you know that delays are attributable to one of their contracted carriers, if that is the actual carrier.

May I recommend a fourth? The Practical Cogitator, 3rd Ed., selected and edited by Charles P. Curtis, Jr. and Ferris Greenslet, 1962, Houghton Mifflin Co., Boston. ISBN 0-395-34635-5. It's out of print. If you spot a copy, thumb through it. You'll buy it. EDIT: Sorry in advance. If I read everything recommended to me, I would have been committed years ago. -

As chance would have it, I have a copy of my grammar text. The AP Stylebook agrees with it. The book title is Century Handbook of Writing, 4th Edition, by Garland Greever and Easley S. Jones, 1933, D. Appleton - Century Corp., New York. Originally published in 1918 by The Century Co. No ISBN... I spotted the old Nemesis at a public library book sale several years ago, and purchased it for a dime or so. -
Naa. Last year, I pulled off all the axle bearings and replaced same, and popped off the differential rear cover to hog out the goop. Had a shop press out the front suspension bearings and replace same, U/L ball joints, and replace some of the steering linkage parts - it's a 10 year old vehicle, so all that was preventive maintenance against failure. And had a flushing of the transmission and cooling system. Had a front brake line failure in late '07 (corrosion), so both are recent. With my low yearly mileage, I change out that Mobil 1 once per year, with a 6 mo. filter replacement. Last time I waxed it was something like 2000 - yet the paint is good, and there is very little underbody corrosion. Kudos to GM. Objections to the cosmetic lack of front apron, cracked grille, and a door dent, notwithstanding, I've no reason not to expect it to run reliably for another ten years. Not that I expect to live that long.

Rams LB Tinoisamoa not good enough against the run
stuckincincy replied to TheBlackMamba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
... "(Corey) Dillon had his best year with 1,635 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, both career highs, and set a franchise record in the process. The year (2004) culminated in a third Super Bowl win for New England*, in no small part because of the new running game built around Dillon. Dillon was the top rusher of Super Bowl XXXIX with 75 rushing yards and a touchdown, while also catching 3 passes for 31 yards, giving him 106 total yards. He was also a major factor in the Patriots win over the Indianapolis Colts in New England's* first playoff game, rushing for 144 yards and catching 5 passes for 17 yards. Overall, Dillon rushed for a total of 292 yards, caught 9 passes for 53 yards, and scored 2 touchdowns in New England's* 3 postseason games."... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corey_Dillon -

Years ago, folks theorized about how Wilt Chamberlain would do as a TE. He was an amazing athlete. Incredibly fast - I recall seeing college footage with him outrunning guards. Wilt: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilt_Chamberlain -

I'm always skeptical about tackle numbers. Teams are free to list as many as they like - I've read that SF is especially generous. London Fletcher used to get batted about here for his totals...saying his tackles were made 5+ yards down field even though the DL couldn't shove a marshmallow out of the way or tackle an angry ping pong ball. -
