  1. It's always on sale somewhere at three for a dollar. You have to factor in the milk cost, though.
  2. Somebody wrote a book about sports teams and public financing. IIRC, the Hamilton County - Bengals deal topped his list as the worst ever. This season, Hamilton County will no longer get rent from Mike Brown. They will have to pay him to occupy the stadium. Unless the contract stipulates that in case of a strike, those payments are voided, I think the County will be happy to see them walk.
  3. Here's the injury scorecard: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...in.34d3911.html
  4. No love for registering and receiving info by e-mail.
  5. Ah, what fun we have here, eh?
  6. Could be. Ponder that...
  7. Thanks for your expansion.
  8. A thread about Miller beer => => => Flutie battles. Clearly, Flutie has the last laugh...
  9. Expand your commentary, please. isn't coming across clearly.
  10. Well-qualified, eh? A man with quite a temper. 225 vote edge, but curiously, there is no screaming by Republicans as was the case among Dems in Gore vs. Bush. Good going, young voters. A filibuster-proof majority. Total one-party rule. Checks and balances? Pfft. Soon, the Supreme Court will be in the fold. Rather lost in the static is Sen. Baucus' insertion of taxarion of health benefits - except for union members. That dovetails nicely with that piece of legislation out there, that strips away the secret ballot for certifying a union. Naturally, if union members are not taxed for benefits...a powerful inducement for unionization is there. A method of forming a loyal praetorian guard. Obama opposed the taxation of benefits, used it against McCain in the run-up to election. Now, he says that he will wait on the wisdom of Congress. Whatta guy... Add in the "Fairness" doctrine resurgence. Last I read about that, the end-around is to establish "community boards" that will decide what will be broadcast...under pain of losing the broadcast license. Fox News as an alternative to the others that slavishly praise Dear Leader will be silenced sooner or later. There is no end of folks that brainlessly follow the popular pap and call them Foxsnooze, so their demise won't raise a bleep. Talk radio will be silenced. It's inexorable...
  11. I looked it up - the SM was styled in-house by Citroen. What a fine job...I always thought it was a work of one of the Italian studios - Ghia, Pininfarina, Bertone, Guiagaro, Innocenti and the like. Italians have the great gift when it comes to auto styling. Many a mainstream vehicle have had their touch.
  12. How much taxpayer $$$ did they get?
  13. Wasn't that formerly called "Easter Vacation"?
  14. I'm surprised you weren't beaten to a pulp by the folks you selfishly imposed upon with the languishing stink of your continual frying.
  15. It crosses all levels of society. A year or so ago, I was pushing a grocery cart around my local Meijer's grocery store. There was a presentable lady (30 years old, my estimate), barking on a cell phone, saying that she got a real good pain killer (Aleve) for her kid. She finished, and fool that I am, I said that Aleve - naproxen - is a very strong compound, and generally not for children. If looks could kill...
  16. Good advice. Caveat - don't take NyQuil with tylenol (acetaminophen), unless you pay attention to the overall dose. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090629/hl_nm/...inkillers_fda_2 It's a valid caution, and not a caution that is new.
  17. He visited CIN, and his former DC Mike Zimmer. But they wouldn't offer the money he was looking for.
  18. Miller's Milwaukee Best Ice is my beer of choice. 5.9% alcohol by volume. $10.99 for a case - 46 cents per 12 oz. can. Sugar-free and loaded with carbs.
  19. I've heard that Raman noodles are a collegiate diet staple... Seriously - read the grocery store circulars and buy the specials that appeal. Stock up on the good deals. Get the Sunday newspaper and clip the coupons. Make a grocery list, and stick to it. Keep away from the "with card" grocery stores. They market your personal info and track your purchases, and the items not on the "with card" sale list tend to be higher. Watch the little cardboard "on sale - new lower price" things stuck on the shelves. I don't know what they are called today, but in years past, they were called "shelf talkers". Lift them up, and see if the tag underneath is the same price, and that tag is just a sales come-on. You will knock 20% or so off your weekly grocery bill. For investing 30 minutes of your time...
  20. Good luck, Ramius. I'm sure it will be a success.
  21. What a memorable car that was. The curved steering wheel post, the brake button, etc. I recall seeing a picture with one wheel raised to change the tire. You might enjoy this, Dean...a test of the 1970 Citroen SM. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K_CyD0qw1A
  22. I heartily recommend Frank Muir's Oxford Book of Humorous Prose, which was "published on April 1 (naturally) by the Oxford University Press." You will laugh your web feet off, gringo. This is a must-have tome if you are ever stranded on a tropical island. http://www.nytimes.com/1990/04/10/books/pu...humor-book.html
  23. Martian taxes are due May 2nd.
