Where in the world is Mark Sanford?

I recall the days of the Gary Hart - Donna Rice affair. She was a very pretty woman. She went on to be quite a decent soul. http://www.protectkids.com/donnaricehughes/bio.htm -
deferred ball receipt on kick-off

If you win the toss under the new rules, the thing that matters to me is if the wind is a factor, is to use that fortunate result to insure that the wind is at your team's back in the 4th quarter. -
I hear ya. I know that there are people that carry a lot of weight, that just have a genetic disposition to do so. And I'm tired of government and society alike calling them pariahs, weaklings, slackers and the like. But there are many people that just plainly are determined to stuff themselves, regardless of consequence. Simple gluttony. I wish they'd re-think things. There is no lack of info out there, to make better dietary choices.

It makes me shake my head when folks hunt down and whip out a fistful of previous posts. Nothing you or anybody said would make me want to go to all that bother.

Perhaps. But also give credit to district attorneys eager to get a notch in their belt prior to November elections. People with some public recognition are fish in the publicity barrel. Blind justice vs. face time. Hmm...

Our region is perennially up there among the national leaders in coronary disease. I've seen round, 4 foot tall kids (and whatever acts as parent) sit down at the Cincy chili joints with a tray of 8 "Coneys" A Coney being a 4'' boiled hot dog in a teeny roll, mounded high with shredded processed cheese. Skyline - your link - now and then runs ads with "30% more cheese at the same low price!" There's a local chain named Frischs' (think of Elby's - Big Boy etc.). They have a buffet division called "Golden Corral". There's one nearby; spend 5 minutes watching the patrons come and go and you start to think you are watching a sci-fi movie being made..."The Attack of the Weebles".

Intake gasket finally give it up? Junkyards will pick it up - many give you some cash - 50, a 100 bucks or so. IIRC, Goodwill will only take vehicles in donation, if they run (to some degree). Not sure what St. Vincent de Pauls' policy is. -
At the risk of being burned at the stake as a heretic, the recipe for baked wings on the side of a Frank's bottle gives a decent, crisp wing, with little mess. Useful when you have the urge, the raw wings, and no other ready source. tips: Cut'em up, rinse and pat off the moisture. Put foil on the baking pan. I shake on a bit of paprika before baking. turn them halfway during baking. Bake them until they reach the crispness you prefer. Don't oil them up, thinking the oil will sizzle and crisp. The wing fat itself will do that. If you oil them up, they will be soggy. Do not move them up to the broiler after the bake is finished. They will ignite and burn in seconds. I shake'em with some Franks, a pat of melted oleo, a bit of ground pepper, tumeric, marjoram, salt, and parsley flakes. Add some flamethrower sauce or cayenne if buzzing lips are your goal.

Fine - for those that want it. It became trendy, and following trends is inordinately important these days - IMO. I've had it put on steaks, vegetables, fries, fish - you name it. All unrequested. No problem if they listed on a menu "Porterhouse with garlic", or "Fried potatoes with garlic" etc. It got so that I had to run down item by item of what I ordered to see if it contained "Chef's Little Secret that identifies him as chi-chi and so with it". And of course, its' to be expected with some Italian cuisine - not all. I recall the tv chef Mario Batali remarking that garlic use was mostly confined to a couple of regions. I did enjoy his "Molto Mario" show, as he went in to the origins of the dishes he prepared. I also remember a statement he made - "You only go out to dinner if you don't feel like doing the dishes". BTW - didn't you and me have a garlic argument a few years ago...no?

I'm glad that the Emeril Reign of Garlic Terror has pretty much run its' course. Years of hot-shot and rinky-dink restaurants alike tossing the stuff on innocent food...

Have any of you ever been to Banff?

Intoxicating scenery, sunrises and sunsets. You can be captivated for hours on end. You need not lift a leg nor finger to have your breath taken away. A retreat from the incessant buzz. Peaceful. Healing. -
I've been rolling around this or that way this gravy train will be manipulated. The first is the "must be insured for a year" clause. Second...."It must be destroyed". Just like Medicade, Medicare, Section 8, pick the program - it will be gamed.

U.S filing a WTO complaint against China????

Dunno - Mexico bitched a while back http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.p...oryId=102036396 And I read something about Canada taking a dim view...some localities taking action as they might, to squash US imports. I have no sympathy for the PRC, though. They play the exchange rates well - and since they hold so many promises - excuse me, Treasury issues, we have to shut our traps. Of course, we love cheap Chinese good and scoop them up, then go and complain about jobs here evaporating. -
And both fun to dance the Polka with. Polish weddings!

No problem. When I was a lad in Buffalo, our church had Sunday dinner (in the traditional sense - a big meal a couple of hours after services). The families would bring food against a moving list. One Sunday, a family would bring a meat dish, the next, a side, the next, a breadstuff, and so on. So you never brought the same thing each Sunday. Naturally, everybody did the best with what they could afford, with their contributions. Quite a feast, that would satisfy for days - and of course a source of anticipation. Different times then - going "out" for a meal was a rarity for most. Almost never, for kids. So to we wee folk, this Sunday meal was beyond spectacular.

Touring Buffalo- What to see and do?
stuckincincy replied to DDD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really. Rivers are dangerous. Here in SW Ohio, several souls are lost in the Great Miami and Little Miami rivers every year. Both rather lazy, slow-moving rivers, with a very low amount of rapids here and there. Both with shelved rock formations, debris under the surface, undercurrents. Same with the Ohio. People fall in and never come back up. The Niagara River is fast, and a fury of powerful currents and eddies, especially past the Falls. Going for a thrill against such a powerful thing - that's quite a trust in luck being on one's side. IMO. As your Dad knew well, watching for your welfare and spoke to you accordingly. -
