  3. IIRC, there was a BUF-CIN game where Wyche and Levy got into a phony injury battle - I believe that eventually resulted in an "injured" player having to leave the field for at least one play. I think you are right - in general, about baiting to induce a penalty. I see it get called occasionally, on linemen that "flinch", so to speak. And QBs as you mention.

  5. May I assume that the "committee" members all are health-care workers?
  6. Nice word! It has a certain Continental flair..."The 2009 Scrubeenie Targa tops out at 189 mph."
  7. See above... Send me a PM, Bill.
  8. You didn't read the memo, Bill...the no-huddle will vault TE and the Bills into the SB!

  10. What rule said it was illegal? Were they assessed penalties?
  11. But google goes to lengths to grab as much personal information, web queries as they can, to market and sell. They are the ultimate in data mining. I would think that their Chrome browser would have been produced with such as job #1 for them. No?
  12. I disabled mine - problems still exist. I'll go back and see if I "really" disabled it, though. edit: I did.
  13. I won't go into details, except that I've dealt with NOCO, in manufacturing and selling them tankwagon quantities of lube additives. Personally, I would not patronize any of their WNY retail gasoline outlets.
  14. test, wvu - trying to work out a problem..
  15. Yes - if he's astute enough. He's young, and I don't think he has much historical knowledge about the opposing defensive players. If he pulled it on me once, next time I would have a cb make a blatant (and false) move towards the sideline, and see it I can sucker him into a quick snap. Which will probably be a wasted play, or at worse a busted play as he catches his other offensive players unawares. If he's under center, an experienced DL and LB corps will pour in and try to hurt him and try to make him fumble. So..he'd better pull out and spike the ball pronto. Trying to get a penalty against a defense carries some risk. A 15 yard personal foul penalty is a cheap price to pay for getting a starting QB off the field.
  16. Do you mean to say that if the offense does not huddle, the defense cannot change players on the field? My understanding that as long as the ball is dead, the D can do as they please, as long as they have 11 or less players on the field when the snap initiates the play. There might be some details about a player coming off, on, then off again, I suppose. Dunno. There are rules about how many people can be in an offensive huddle, and some other details connected with that.
  17. Here: http://www.printglobe.com/Products/Promo.a...CFQoKswodVHSBdA Now be quiet.
  18. Manning vs. Edwards... Regarding catching a def. substitution - doesn't that means a quicker snap? I can't see how BUF, with a young QB and a jumbled OL with a peppering of rookies and an RT playing LT is going to knock the opposition back on its' heels via a no-huddle. I'm inclined to expect offside penalties and botched plays. This all seems like hype to sell tix. Fairchild was lauded as the guy. Then Schonert came along...big things were going to happen. I'll wait and see if this no-huddle turns one of the NFL's moribund offenses for the past several years, into a world-beating dynamo.
  19. Yes. Also updated an loaded latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
  20. I realize that not every no-huddle play is a hurry-up. But I'm not quite clear why one would want to sacrifice those seconds in a huddle, trying to be sure that everybody is on the same page, for setting the OL into position quickly as the clock winds down. As long as the ball is dead (not snapped), the defense can substitute. And if you set early, doesn't that in some degree, tip off the D? I really don't see a lot of sense to a no-huddle not resulting in a quick snap to catch a D unaware, fatigue the DL (and also your OL players), or if you are battling the clock.
  21. I don't know. But there is an archaic, sneering, comment..."four legs under". The meaning was "there's more to marriage than just 4 legs writhing under the covers." Perhaps it should be resurrected...it would seem to be applicable these days. I would add an appropriate smiley, but something happened to the TBD s/w or to my own PC that no longer gives me that ability. :-{{{.
  22. In Ohio, there is funding for something like 14,000 students, but only about 9,000 are used. They are despised by the school systems and the teacher's unions - because it takes money out of their pockets. The Democrats, including our current Governor, are always trying to eliminate them - a payoff for political contributions. The welfare of a student is not part of their equation. So they put in significant restrictions - they are only allowed in school districts that are dubbed "in academic trouble", or some such. One of the attacks is that they perform no better. Well, they take kids that have problems already. My impression is that (responsible) parents seek them to get their kid out of the violence that occurs in schools. And it's most always the upbringing of the kid that determines things...not the money spent, not the condition of buildings, not the teachers. Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) built a spiffy new school year before last. The same student body moved back in, and tore it apart and continued in their violent ways...beatings, assaults upon teachers, extortion of other students etc. The CPS used to report the actual number of students that did not graduate. Something like 35 - 40%. They wised up a few years ago, and got in line: now they report only the percentage of students that entered their senior class, not the ones that quit in their junior or sophomore years - so the numbers look much better, and they tell us how proud they are of themselves. Pilfering of students for money is popular here. There is a spreading thing called "open enrollment". The town of Lockland here publically accused the town of Reading of sending out mailings to induce students to go to their school system. And it worked. Both admit it's all about grabbing more federal/state/taxpayer cash. As to class size. Things have changed - time was that the personal attention of a teacher was the last thing a kid wanted to have happen. IIRC, my classes in grade and high school numbered about 40. But this is the age of self-esteem, it's all about me, I am special etc. Teacher unions are much in favor of small class sizes, since that increases their ranks. My school district has yet another property tax increase vote this Aug. 4th. This follows a measure defeated in May this year, and November last year. They are paying over 100K for this election - but this time, they haven't exploited children to go and hector the populace. They are being quiet, hoping to slip the property tax increase by. I'm certain that they would love for a violent thunderstorm to occur - to cut down the voter turnout. The school district I live in is a comfortable area, but far from posh. Yet we pay the 2nd highest school tax rate in the county. They did sacrifice, though..they got rid (well, bought out) their $75K per year "Director of Quality Assurance" - a position with a staff of...zero.
