The new stadium is 90° offset from the current stadium angle to the west.
Are you familiar with Bernoulli's principle? It's essentially what allows planes to fly. While the "wind-confusing" skin on the stadium will reduce the breeze through the stadium, when that same wind hits the canopy and is pushed upward, it will reduce the pressure of the air below and could create a horizontal cyclone over the field.
I assume that was considered in the design.
