  1. If you're looking for a wit, try Ommegang Wit. It is excellent and shouldn't be too hard to find. The price tag is a little steep at $10 per 6pk, but its worth it. Also, Mendocino Summer Ale isn't too bad either and its alot easier on the wallet. At about $6 a 6pk, I drink it regularly. I know I've seen it at Beers of the World in Rochester, so I'm sure you should be able to find it in Buffalo. If you like beer in cans, there is also Henneweissen from Butternuts Beer and Ale. Its made near Binghampton and its pretty good. About $5.00/6pk.
  2. The Flutie Brothers Band will be performing at "Alive at Five" on June 22 at the Corning Preserve. Linky
  3. I saw the game Thursday night there (was in Rochester on business). Decent pub food and reasonably priced beer. The crowd was very into the game and friendly. Overall, a good experience. I just wish they had won the game. The only problem was that some of the waitresses were distracting me from watching the game... (definately NOT farm animals)
  4. I just tried Moylan's Double IPA, its pretty darn good. Others I'd recommend: Southhampton's Secret Ale - a nice Alt beer Great Divide's Titan IPA Avery's 14'er ESB Middle Ages Wailing Wench - a big IPA Hoegaarden Victory's Hop Devil Ommegang's Three Philosophers - a bend of a belgian style quad with cherry lambic. and for those in or near western Mass Berkshire Brewing Company's Maibock Lager - very nice.

  6. I did get a chance to try the Holy Moses last summer. It is very good (so are all of the Great Lakes beers). Hoegaarden is probably the best but my personal favorite is Ommegang's Witte. Only problem is its a little pricey ($10/6pk) to drink often. Blue Moon is not too bad. A slice of orange tossed in the bottle helps the favor.
  7. Marv Levy and Ralph Wilson shot Lincoln and framed John Wilkes Booth, that's why the Cigarette Man won't let us win any super bowls and blah, blah, blah. Please. This is not a conspiracy. Mismanagement perhaps... too much cronyism, maybe. Ralph hires Marv because he feels comfortable with him and he comes cheap. Marv hires Jauron because he feels comfortable with him and he's cheap. Ralph hires cheap people whom he likes. Not a great way to do business but certainly not a conspiracy. Many poorly run businesses do just this all the time. Now come in off the ledge folks.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if he was retained last week because Marv thought he could salvage MM. But after having spent some serious time looking at film and talking to players, etc., Marv decided that it would be best to go in a different direction. Then he and Ralph "asked" MM to resign.
  9. This whole blame the media / "for the good of his family" sound like spin-speak for " we asked him to resign for his own good and that of the organization ". If there was a compensation package, as ESPN.com apprently reported, that just furthers the point. I can't believe that MM could be so thin skinned. He is a profession, after all.
  10. Re-signing Eric Smedley and Mike Salmon should really give us a rock solid secondary for next season.
  11. Far be it from me to ride to the defense of Sullivan, as I do believe the guy is a hack. But if your tirade is due to this morning's column, I have to tell you I agree with him more than I disagree. Marv is a real hero for this franchise and an idol to me personally but I have to question the wisdom of hiring an 80 year old who has been out of football nearly 10 year with no front office experience as a the GM of a team that has some real problems. Mr. Wilson said yesterday that this team needed a "fresh start", then undermined that point by leaving the usually suspects in place. Retaining MM and expanding Modrak is not a "fresh start", its just more of the same. MM was calling the play since week 5 last season, so the firing of Tom Clements does little to help with this "fresh start". MM will most likely still be calling that swing pass to Shelton in the red zone next year or will find an OC who will call it. One who "agrees with our offensive philosophy". Right. This really does seem to have "cheap price tag" written all over it. Wilson has shown in the past that he gags on having to swallow remaining contract years. Its been reported by others for several years that Marv is desperate to get back into football and I sure will come cheaper that any of the established GM prospects. You don't have to pay Modrak any more and you get at least another year out of MM. There have been quite a few articles that Sullivan has written over the years that are idiotic from beginning to end, but as hard as it is to hear (or worst, say), this one isn't one of them.
  12. Sounds like Mort has been talking to TD. "Blame the disgraceful fans who got poor Gregg fired, who have questioned GM's performance, who dare to expect more than one winning season in five, and who dare to expect this team to reach the playoffs." In TD's world, fans are only good for providing the team with financial support and to be the scapegoats when his decisions don't work out right. Sounds like Mort has been drinking the same kool-aid.
  13. I think your question extends to Moulds and Adams also. Or do you think that this means they will be gone?
  14. Will they have a clearance sale on white wigs and "Save Your Postage" bumper stickers?
  15. What a terrible loss. My heart goes out to Tony and his family.
  16. I can't help but wonder if all this doesn't have something to do with the Mould thing. Ralph comes to town and talks with EM on that Thursday and Moulds agrees to the suspension because he "missed" two days of practice. The idea being that the gameplan was set by then, with JP at QB and Aiken at WR for Moulds. But the next week JP has an injury and can't play because he has "missed practice" for two days. Now this week he is not starting again. Could this be because Ralph has lost confidence in JP? Was this loss of confidence influenced by what was said at the meeting between Ralph and Moulds? Did Ralph tell MM to set down JP and the injury status is just a way for the coaching staff to save face? I like Moulds and I'm not trying to bury him by suggesting that he sabotaged JP but the timing seems odds and the cloak-and-dagger around JP's injury seem to not be on the level. Just curious what you folks might think.
  17. I hope your right, Cincy. I'm just afraid that the "run for the bus" will occur right after the opening kick-off.
  18. I care because in two weeks they'll be done and I won't see them again for 8 months, and I know by June I'll be climbing the walls waiting for September. This may be a bad team but a bad Bills teams is better than no Bills team.
  19. The San Diego game left me shaking my head but the Miami game left me screaming at the television. Miami game was the worst loss this season.
