  1. If Fred was truly done, releasing him early is respectful as it gives him a chance to sign on with another team. I get he is slower and older, but he would not be asked to hold the same place on the team. Shady will get 70% of the snaps at least. Letting Fred come in to spill him would have maintained toughness in the backfield with a powerful runner. If the reports were correct and they did not even ask Freddie to rearrange his deal it makes this even sadder. He was the best Bill for a long time and deserved to have one more run wearing the red, while and blue! Sometimes, the business side of the NFL sucks eggs!
  2. Good! I do not see why so many are having convulsions over this. It's a pre-season game! Finally we will see EJ with the 1st string in front of a first string defense and see what, if anything, he has learned. If he does well, then we have a good old fashion QB controversy. If he does not do well, all the EJ detractors can smile and say "we told you!" and the coaches will have to choose between the conservative choice in Cassel or the X-factor in Taylor. EJ seems like a good kid with some talent. We spend a 1st round on him, I am at the very least curious after Cleveland. No harm in letting him have a quarter.
  3. I think the Jury is still out on what EJ will or will not be. He is under contract and has money due so cutting him does not make business sense. I am an eternal optimist so I am in hope EJ becomes a serviceable quarterback. but in the meanwhile being the 3rd string QB might not be a bad slot. He was horribly maligned by amateur hour the past 2 years and maybe spending a season learning from Cassel and Roman will be to his benefit next year. Go Bills!
  4. Best wishes and positive thoughts for Van!
  5. I have always done the Days Inn outside the airport. Clean enough, cheap, good location, easy get to the Ralph and you get to drive by Salvatore's!
  6. fast, so long as its a good choice and not a panicked decision.
  7. You could have said the same about Marv after Kansas City or Belichick after Cleveland.
  8. Seriously, Brandon was out of football operations and helped the team stay profitable while sucking for most of the bast 15 years. Keep him on the business side and at 1 Bills Drive.
  9. Me too, the after game review is missing something without him. Bill, wherever you are, I hope you're well!
  10. to quote an Indiana Jones moves "You chose well"
  11. I disagree, I'd say its the cancer man from the X-files
  12. Then get thee to the pub! Courtesy of the Bills Backers Chapter list Bills Backers of Boston The Harp Restaurant & Pub 85 Causeway St. Boston,MA 02114
  13. Hand off to Spiller who dances to the sideline only to lose 2 yards!
  14. Abandoning cosy Connecticut and my direct TV to take the old man into NYC to watch the game at Calico Jacks with the Bills Backers of NYC! Second only to being at The Ralph!
  15. I give them credit for just letting this season play out. Everyone is fighting for a job and it sends the wrong message to come in and just upend things. This year will be what it will be, next year should be interesting with new ownership.
  16. That has never been the Bills style. The way the line has been playing, they should not need to be dirty, they will legitimately hit Brady. The Ref's try to protect their golden boy so it would not be worth it to suck up 15 years penalties.
  17. I have only been to the Ralph a handful of times and before the recent renovations. The stadium is great. The location makes it easy to get to from the airport and lets face it, part of the game day appeal is the RV's/tailgating culture. Its like a college game. The stadium itself always had great sight-lines and with the improvements it would seem to be solid. As a tax payer in my own state, I am not a fan of giving money to billionaires who could afford to build on their own. It would be a good project to improve rail lines to the stadium from the Niagara and Rochester to make it easier to get to the stadium and reduce traffic congestion. Now, if you can keep the pros of going to the Ralph (tailgating) and create something that could be used year round (concerts, conventions, bowl games) then you can justify the use of public funds as revenues raised outside of football would benefit the community. With the purchase by the Pegulas this becomes a back-seat issue. The team is staying in Western NY and the current lease runs for the next decade. Time can be taken to see if a new stadium would make sense without the fear this is a make-or-break issue.
  18. We keep him as the starter until he gets injured or shows signs he truly implowed. If he does win; I'm not buying a jersey, but I'll ride Uncle Ortons bus!
  19. I can understand the call, but at the same time why not go for it? Worst case you leave the Lions with terrible field position and the defense has been playing good ball today. Sometimes too conservative can be way too conservative.
  20. Hackett = Fairchild - bring in someone who has NFL experience... the good kind.
  21. can hackett be benched next?
  22. I get ego's are fragile things; but this is the NFL and they are professionals. Can EJ be a good, serviceable QB? Maybe, but he is not being done any favors right now. I think Orton needs to start, EJ needs a headset and be glued to Hackett for the rest of the season so he can learn to see the field and develop. We do not need to Todd Collins him.
  23. I think Hackett's play calling is worse than EJ's playing
  24. He had two fair games, and two bad games. Would it be that awful on his psyche to have him sit behind Orton and let him learn the game. Today proved we should have kept Fitz for one more year as EJ sat on the bench and learned. The kid has tools, but he is in over his head and the coaches seem ill equipped to get him where he needs to be.
