Cooper, Douglas, Poyer, probably others (like maybe Morse despite theoretically retiring) .... I am just not in get the band back together mode... we didnt win a superbowl with them and we needed to get better... did we? Not sure in especially the safety position we have... So, no lets not bring these folks back unless they provide us with an immediate upgrade to our team and dont cost us a ton of cap... this means to me... I am fine bringing Poyer back... IF we find ourselves in a stretch of the season where we have injuries and he is the BPA to help us... at the right price... Same thing with Coop as well as Douglas... although he could be a temporary upgrade to some in theory but not a big enough upgrade to justify shaking up the "band" at this point and stifling development of younger players... But, there is value in folks knowing the system and the team... so no, not nostalgia but If MCBeane think the situation warrants it due to poor circumstances I am fine with i it as a band aid... to do this now and make them part of the plan for success (investment, playing time/Starter. sacrifice young players development etc....) to get you over the top... Hard No. Pull you out of a bad spot... sure.

I think the Steelers are in a quandry, they need to get a franchise guy but Rodgers, Winston and even Cousins are not gonna be that... but they win too many games to really be in contention for a top pick... So, I feel like they go with whom they have (unless a Rodgers comes in) accumulate draft capital (Pickens trade etc..) and try to move up from middle of the pack to top 5-10 and get one.... in the mean time at least try to field a competitive team... but not be devastated if they go 6-11... I just dont think they are looking for a moderate upgrade that isnt gonna get them to the SB any sooner... bottom line very confusing situation over there... and I felt like the Justin Fields combo with Wilson last year was to at least take thier shot at a potential top end qb... but now Fields is gone... maybe they were like, yeah.. but no... not our guy... I am in the been there done that crowd... did not like his last year here in terms of being that true 2... maybe because he was injured... Bills didnt think he warranted that money... Jags did... off he goes... did not see anything last year with Jags to make me think his last year with the Bills was an aberration... maybe because he was injured... I just don't see how revisiting Gabe changes what I have seen in the past two years... that said... they bring him back on a Super low prove it deal to compete... almost like they did Tre... Rookie - Landon Jackson, I dont know why but I feel like he gets one responsibility go get the QB and he makes a solid impact this year... no stats or facts just literally a gut feeling. Vet - My hope is that Ed Oliver has a comeback year because we have shored up DT and he can regain some solid form... but I am gonna go with Tre White... there is literally zero expectation on him and a couple years removed from injury I think he has a bit more in the tank... especially if they use him in dime

I suspect if there is a Rodgers effect in this trade that it is as you described... but I am not discounting the opposite that Rodgers is going to sign there and doesnt like Pickens... although I think your initial thought is the most likely if this is in anyway about Rodgers...

In the end I think Pitt was done with Pickens routine... maybe much like we were done with Diggs routine... and felt that this was addition by subtraction... at least Diggs gives you a few years on a new team before he becomes malcontent... with Pickens I am just not sure how he will react... he could really get it together and act like a pro or he could go to the lights of Dallas and get worse... I hope for him he figures out a way to take this and improve... but my gut tells me he is happy about getting traded... He gets Dallas and Zak etc... and he might just go off the rails again there... Well, look, I think acceptance is a good word here... like of course he isnt like woooo hooo let me see you do that rauncy scene with another guy... like unless he has a different out look on life thats probably not happening... its gonna be weird... but he likely accepts it because its just acting and thats what happens in acting... probably he is also proud of her, this is a big role for her in a big time movie that seems to me like a bit of a coming out for her.... he probably is proud of her for that... but either way I do not see it impacting his performance...
