Pete Carroll and the Raiders pehaps? https://www.si.com/nfl/seahawks/dk-metcalf-nfl-seahawks-patriots-packers-raiders-pete-carroll-trade

who replaces oliver? Osa odighizuwa is about to get a new contract in Dallas for 21 million a year and he is a poor mans Oliver. So you can't really replace him in Free Agency. so that would mean hoping Harmon/Nolen somehow fall to you at 30 or you trade up for them or hope a guy like Farmer falls in the second round. Would be an interesting few weeks if they moved oliver for metcalf that is for sure.

well that strategy can and more times than not backfire. Von Miller and Diggs backfired. Diggs cost a lot of money in dead cap in 24. He was such a malcontent they shipped him off to a playoff team. That money he cost them could have paid for two players not to mention they had to replace him. Don't get me started on Von Miller. Metcalf is a fun offseason discussion though. Slayton is a good fit for the bills, add a wr in the draft and all of a sudden its a pretty good group of guys and lots of talented options for Allen. I imagine they just draft a wr with a day 3 pick and resign hollins. We shall see very soon what they think of the wr room.
-
I still lean to Slayton because all he costs is some cap space which can be massaged. I understand the trade comp of a 1 and a 2 or a 1 and next years 1 for Metcalf though. I just hate the money that would go to Metcalf. for fun.

Watson is injured and is going to be out for the early part of the year after acl surgery. Doubs is a good player not a great one and has an expiring contract. He also was suspended from the team last year so I am sure they are looking to move him regardless of this metcalf deal.
-
Yea that is true. They have numbers there its just that we don't think of Virgil, Shavers or Hamler as guys who will make a difference at the moment. Safety is Rapp/ Bishop. The defensive end position is in a tough spot and They need a starting corner. I am of the opinion they will get something done with Hollins. He is everything they want in a role player. I wish they would sign Darius Slayton and guarantee themselves they have a good room before the draft creating a situation where if a wr falls to them in the 1st, 2nd or 4th they can take that player without putting the weight of the world on their shoulders. I don't think they will sign slayton or trade for metcalf though. I think it's Hollins and a 2nd to 5th round wr or mid level guy on a team friendly deal.

The Bills first rounders are essentially 2nd rounders with the added bonus of the fifth year option. If the rumored deal from GB is true that establishes that a first rounder is part of the deal. In a perfect world, pick 30 and next years 2 or 3 would be ideal. Or two 2's. also to quote George Carlin, "I never had a ten, but one night I had five two's"

Side note here. Davante Adams was traded in 2022 to Las Vegas for picks 22 and 53. Las Vegas immediately gave him a 5 year deal worth 28.5 million a year and 67 million guaranteed. Adams was 29, Metcalf is 27 Adams has the stats and the all pro's and pro bowls but he also played with Aaron Rodgers. I have to say after looking at that giving up a 1 and coleman/kincaid seems high. pick 22 is worth 780 points and 53 is worth 370 so 1150 points. pick 30 is worth 620 points. So 530 points difference. Lets say Buffalo wins the superbowl, pick 32 is worth 590. That leaves a 60 point difference. Pick 137 is worth 37.5. That means this years 1 and next years 1 is an overpay that can be equaled out with the return of an early 4. So hypothetically. Seattle sends Metcalf and #137 Buffalo sends 2025 #30 & 2026 #32 I would do this right now if it were an option. Curtis Samuels deal is over after next year. The Bills could have Metcalf, Coleman/Hollins(resign) outside and Samuels, Shakir inside with Knox, Kincaid, Davidson, Morris(resign) at tight end. that would be a pretty great offense. The bills get better, keep their guys and get even bigger on offense.

I don't understand the comment about McDermott and Beane. The defense is the priority this year. They literally do not even have the numbers on the defense right now. They need players on defense desperately. They are short on the defensive line and in the secondary. This offseason is about the defense, if a WR like metcalf drops into their lap they can alter the plan because he is worth it. This idea that we are a wr away from a championship is last years Fallacy. The defense looked pretty damn good against Denver and Baltimore and that is with an average group on the defensive line and an average group of Safeties. Imagine if those units were upgraded with playmakers.

Stafford given permission to seek trade

Schoen and Daboll better get those for sale signs loose in the bullpen. -
Yes it does. The Line needs to be rebuilt. Right now Buffalo has 10 picks. 30, 56, 62, 107, 130, 170, 173, 176, 203, 205 if they made a deal like we mentioned in the other threads they would/could have. 56 62, 130, 137, 170, 173, 176, 203 and 205. They would still have good picks to use on the defensive line. 56 and 62 can still get them two defensive lineman or a DL and Corner or safety.

i am not so sure. The difference between 23 and 30 is not much as far as first round compensation goes. Doubs is on an expiring contract and had to be suspended to show up after just blowing off the team last year because of his role in the offense. Coleman or Kincaid are rock solid people with multiple years left on their contract at affordable prices.
-
They both cost a lot. Good players cost a lot. If you make one of these moves and lose two or three picks plus two or three players you might have extended you are really altering your team and your plan. It's very risky. The bills would be giving Seattle a player with two or years left on a rookie contract, a first and a fourth round pick for Metcalfs giant cap number and a four. GB would be giving a wr with an expiring contract and a locker room risk and a first round pick. Buffalo's deal would be better honestly no matter if its kincaid or coleman. I wonder if Buffalo would not have to give the 4th to them. Since kincaid or coleman is great for their books that should allow buffalo to keep their four. Kincaid/Coleman and 30 for Metcalf and 137. That fourt rounder from Seattle would be them essentially paying buffalo for the cap space they are getting by moving metcalf. The bills are getting two fifth round comp picks so if they could get that kind of a deal its a no brainer and they would still have 9 picks or so.
-
Yes but Garrett's number is 19 million with two more seasons before he is an unrestricted free agent. Metcalf's number is 31 million and is an UFA next year. Major difference.
-
easier said than done. You essentially have to get Seattle to agree to the trade compensation and then you have to get together with metcalf's agent and come up with an extension. Then the other side of the pancake, which player(s) does this cost you going forward? Who does not get extended and who might you have to cut to make cap space for this year for this deal to work? lets say you make that trade, then you get an extension done and it costs no extensions for Benford, Bernard and Cook and you have to release Matt Milano. There is a lot more to it than just the trade compensation.

The Deal from that Report is Romeo Doubs & 23 for DJ Metcalf and 137 or 173 and you want to give up Keon Coleman or Dalton Kincaid, 30 and 107 or 130 Then you have to add in Metcalf's 2025 Cap number, 31 Million and workout an extension with him. Seattle wants to move Metcalf because of his cap number and dead cap in the future, GB wants to move Doubs because he complained last year and they had to suspended him to straighten him out. Why would you want to include Coleman or Kincaid in the deal? I would much rather have Metcalf on the field with Coleman/kincaid. Is Seattle only interested in trading him for a wr. With the extra one I imagine Seattle would use it on a tight end. I guess I just wouldn't even consider Kincaid. I understand coleman because that is a straight swap, plug in metcalf for Coleman's snaps but no way on kincaid. Since you are offering a 4th rounder 23 picks higher and Keon Coleman a player under contract for 3 more seasons as opposed to Doubs who needs a new contract and has shown he will complain and pout over his role in the offense it seems Coleman should be enough. Coleman, 30 and 130 for Metcalf and 137 Seems like a good deal for both teams. Seattle gets cap space, a young wr under contract for 3 more years and two good picks and Buffalo gets what they have been chasing plus 137. It seems the hardest part would be figuring out what to do with Metcalf's salary.
-
Pretty interesting. The draft is in Green Bay so I imagine GB is not moving their first round pick. The packers have picks 23, 54, 87, 123, 160, 200, 239 and 251 GB WR's Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, Bo Melton, Julian Hicks, Cornelius Johnson So I imagine the wr is Jayden reed and pick 54. I guess it could be Romeo Doubs since they had some issues with him.

Free Agents we like for the 2025 Bills?

I think he said it last year on halloween when he was wearing his Gargamel Costume. -
The NFL PA Union should step in and offer help with this imo. They use this as a semi farm system, yes I know college football is the minor league system but this league develops players too. The league should be providing Health Insurance for the players, I mean come on. Salaries I understand a hard line stance from both sides because I imagine they are all operating at a loss or near it but health insurance should be a no brainer.

Dane Brugler was on one bills drive today. -
speaking of dak and the cowboys, I heard on the radio this morning here that The Cowboys are going to resign their DT Osa Odighizuwa to a 21 million a year deal and that Parsons is looking at a deal at 42 million a year. Pretty funny.

The bills should look into Jordan schultz, apparently he almost started a fight with Ian Rappaport in a starbucks yesterday. Rich kids. I find this story pretty funny. I wish they got into a hair pulling fight and were rolling around the starbucks floor. It would have been hillarious.
