Again, how on earth was anyone supposed to be ready for a situation where people are shooting at helicopters and assaulting police stations. This would be a lot easier and different if everyone was pulling in the same direction instead of taking their kids with them to loot.

Massive amounts of destruction and the entire city turning into "Mad Max beyond Thunderdome" overnight are two different things. We have people shooting at helicopters trying to airlift people out of the city. Was there a plan for that in place? Should there have been? It's so ridiculous that I can't imagine the answer to either question being anything other than "no."

No kidding. And nice Underpants Gnomes reference. It also doesn't help that a sizeable chunk of the NO police department abandoned the city and the rest of them are trapped in their police stations fighting off roving gangs like its the Alamo. Seriously, there are people in the city making it nearly impossible to rescue everyone and we're blaming the people who can't get in to stop them? What?

Why was everyone expecting the Federal government to do everything to make sure NO would be safe in this event? Shouldn't the people that actually have to live there (and, in a catastrophic event, die there) have taken the initiative on their own instead of relying on people who live far away?? The Feds should be responsible for coordinating aid after the fact, because that requires moving people and supplies across states. Having NO prepared so that levies aren't breaking due to the storm should have been the responsibility of the leaders of NO.

Quite a few Americans agreed with Pat Robertson. It doesn't mean either one is a good guy or worth listening to.

If you want to make sure something never gets done, just put the Federal government in charge of it.

It probably sucks to be a real martyr. Those dudes are unable to get laid in real life (hence the suicide bombing solution) and they're condemning themselves to an eternity of clumsy "first times" with other virgins. Way to go.

Thanks for the psychoanalysis, "Dr." And, no, you don't seem to be a partisan hack when you blame Bush for "bungling" the disaster in New Orleans when it's the worst natural disaster in 100 years and maybe the only time a huge hurricane has destroyed and flooded a major U.S. city built below sea level. Obviously, the fictional "good" President that exists in your mind would have made a few quick phone calls and had things under control by now. Because that's realistic.

Jesus H. Christ, the POTUS is NEVER on vacation. He can stay in the White House or in Crawford but he's always on duty. Presidents never get the day off. You couldn't take a day off from your shrill, stupid posts for even one day? Maybe a week in light of the worst natural disaster in a century? Yeah, we all know you hate Bush. Your life's work is apparently expressing your hatred of him. But give it a break this week.
