  1. @Pats L 0-1 Bucs Saints (one of these 2 games will be W, other will be L) 1-2 @Fish L Browns W 2-3 --- offensive line looking good at this point ---- @Jets @Caro (one of these two games will be W, other will be L) 3-4 Texans W 4-4 --- bye week --- @Tenn L @Jags L (road games against good teams, even bye rest won't help) 4-6 Fish W Jets W (feel good about home games this year, even TO game) 6-6 @KC W 7-6 (first time above 500) Pats L (let's not kid ourselves) 7-7 @Atl W Colts W (bills at home, weather factor?, colts resting starters) Prediction == 9-7 6 or fewer wins: very unlikely 7-9 unlikely, but possible 8-8 possible 9-7 likely 10 wins or more -- no way
  2. It will be a while before the offensive line gels... they need the pre-season, plus about 6 games into the season. I figure they'll be pretty good starting at the October game when Cleveland visits.
  3. There are 32 teams. There are probably 16 good LTs. LW knows he's not one of the 16, and he doesn't like being thrust into a role he's not equipped for. No harm, no foul, if this is the only static he produces. If he gripes for a long time, then we can B word about him.
  4. I don't know much about most of those listed. But I'd have to say Marv should be in the list somewhere. 50 Greatest Coaches of All Time He's also the Kevin Bacon of NFL Coaching! ------- Off topic... I like the wikipedia comment "Outspoken pundit Chuck Dickerson worked under Levy for several years in Buffalo before being fired." ...the sentence just kind of hangs there, looking out of place. Probably put in by Chuck himself.
  5. Nothing to see here w/this article. Please move along. The article is quoting population specs from inside city limits... not greater metro areas. Bflo is 270K Erie County is more like 920K (incl the Bflo 270K).
  6. He draws so much media/fan attention and bandwidth, that our other players will be free of distractions. The Fandom/Felser/Gleason/Sullivan/ESPN/Stadium Wall (et al.) magnifying glass is occupied with TO. Our players who need training, can get that training with less distraction than in the past. If there was no TO, every twitch, slip, fumble & fart of Maybin, Levitre, Wood, etc. would be get dissected in brutal and usually negative-biased detail. When TO hypnotized the crowd in the bleachers yesterday, at the other end of the field there was probably a rookie making a rookie mistake. Which went un-noticed, except by the position coach who fixed it. It's nice not to hear about those things.
  7. M&T Bank (MTB) Q2 earnings smash estimates Funny... the conservative banking philosophy (minimal junk loans) that caused M&T to be dissed the last few years is now why M&T is lauded (due to minimal junk loans). Heh. Good for the WNY crew!
  8. Stadium Debt! That is an excellent point. Each day the national economy sours, and taxpayers revolt somewhere, is another day where the Bills look more likely to stay in Bflo.
  9. The issue isn't whether it's Jax or Bills going to LA. The issue is who is in play to move [anywhere] first. The Bills will be in play first. Statistically speaking, Ralph's time is coming due. The estate will sell the team. No one in Bflo has the net worth needed to compete with out of town wealth. Some rich guy from out of town buys the team... and they're gone. I disagree with the originals poster's presumption that the next NFL team move or expansion will be into LA. LA and Cali have not proven fertile grounds for Raiders or Rams, the taxpayers quarrel over building a mega-Stadium, and their current economy may be making it even worse. I don't know what city would be next, but LA is about even chance with another dozen or so US cities. Other scenarios: 1. Ralph lives well into his hundreds. The team stays as long as he does. My favorite option. 2. Out of Town Rich Guy buys the Bills; but finds Bflo to be the best business decision for them to play. My second favorite option.
  10. I was under the impression this was a murder-suicide. Hint about who had which role: -- the body with multiple shot wounds likely the murdered -- the body with just one shot wound likely the suicide Hard too tell from the media reports available.
  11. Heh. The Slashdot version of this gag is much more harsh. Goatse. Shudder. I won't even link here, it would flout the TBD terms of use and quasi-normal peoples of this earth.
  12. This article reminded me of this idea: Ohio Power Plant The reference to the plant having access to the power grid reminded me of Niagara Falls. Before the "safety people" get up in arms: today's nuclear power plants are multitudes safer than yesterday's 3-Mile Island Plant. This new Westinghouse reactor is AWESOME, it's American, it's safe, it produces something for export, and something people really want and are willing to pay dearly for. For the environmentalist: nothing is cleaner than modern nuke plants. The fossil fuel plants replaced would help global warming (not that I believe that bunk). I know licensing issues take years; but maybe it can be fast-tracked by political maneuver. Here's an off the wall idea for someone else: The Indian Reservations should forget cigarettes and casinos, they only prey on the working stiff. Imagine if the Senecas built a power plant and exported electricity. Heh. Well, may not happen, but it would be an interesting case to watch the license application go through NRC and court system. If Senecas even decided they needed a license. Anway.. I just like the idea of WNY making something tangible and sending it to the rest of the world, causing cash to flow into the region for a change. To hell with the service economy. $10 hour phone center jobs won't do it. Forget tourism.. what a pipe dream: geography is not on Blfo's side. Forget manufacturers, they won't come for the laundry list of reason beat to death here. Nukes!
  13. Theory will be put to practice now. Breaking news 18 June: U.S. Military Tracking North Korean Ship Suspected of Proliferating Missiles, Nukes I'd like the diplomatic community decoder ring for "concerns"... is this the order, from least to most serious: some concerns deeply concerned gravely concerned
  14. I haven't PPP'd in a long time. I come in once to check the water... and find "master debating." Good God!
  15. Anybody can come back to Bflo IF they are independently wealthy and do not have to worry about employment. It is a huge disappointment that I can't move back. There are few decent jobs in Bflo. On my last visit I was at a red light on Main & Transit. I looked around at the other cars, and EACH ONE had a gray haired person in it. I will watch Bflo with keen interest over the next ten years. When the gray hairs depart this earth... what will become of Bflo? Detroit? Or, something better? I could ramble forever on this... but that would be better for PPP board.
  16. You are correct. I read to much into this article. I am old fashioned guy who believes a contract is a contract, and the whole renegotiation thing rubs me wrong.. in most situations. I hope it works out for AW. I always respected his play and 'tude.
  17. I hear what he's saying. But he ignores the aspect that it's a two way relationship between the team and player. Yes, as a team you cannot let being miffed interfere with your personnel decisions. On the other hand, if you're a GM you can't let players who are miffed at the team, have their way either. Even if you are miffed, that doesn't mean you are wrong. You just have to be careful that you miff-ism doesn't cloud your decision process. Also.. Common thread I see in Felser's examples of Bills being miffed at players: The Bills weren't miffed, they were UNCERTAIN. The players had uncertain futures. In the future: they may be good, or they may suck. These are all players entering the second phase (or maybe final) of their career and their future success is uncertain in relation to the high dollars they negotiate. Jason Peters.. he "might" be successful in Philly, but given bucks he wanted, not sure he would have produced in Bflo Angelo Crowell.. surprise surgery: was it disloyalty, or just poor mgmt of personal life. Either way = unreliable. Pat Williams.. OK, maybe the Bills dropped this one Antoine Winfield.. Reliable or mercenary? He's holding out in the final year of Vikes contract Jim Leonhard.. his future success was hardly a slam dunk; but good for him that he was Roscoe Parrish.. actually, I think RP is victim of roster excess in this position The Bills were not miffed. They offered, or didn't offer, contracts that accounted for their confidence in the players future production.
  18. You didn't get the memo? Norwood is forgiven. Let it go.
  19. If it's one year.. I can live with that and enjoy the show. Anyway: his house hunting is not a reliable indicator of his frame of mind. He already OWNS three houses in three other cities already. He may not want to buy, regardless of Bills deal length. I know I wouldn't want a forth house. I don't even want one house.
  20. Such dry mathematical humor. Harrison less than POS... now that is harshitude.
  21. Is Skooby the former "Ice" ..or.. "Combo" ..or.. "Hogboy" There are style similarities. I don't hang here much any more, so have lost track of the characters.
  22. That is the key. That's what the Giants did in Feb 08. Turned "19 and 0" into "18 and Doh.."
  23. Yee haa. 17 pages of posts talking about a shock jock! Pfft. The last I listened to WGR was when Stan Roberts was on the air... I listened while I was delivering the Courier Express. Dang. I am an OLD GOAT.
  24. De'Cody Fagg? With a name like that, you have to be tough. I had to Google to verify, and lo and behold, found this Former Florida State receiver De'Cody Fagg completes 'miraculous' rehab from knee injury Sounds like a tough kid. Let's hope his recovery is like McGahee... but his character isn't.
  25. I like Kemp even more... Baker is prima donna, and regularly deserves a good helmet slap. RIP to the first "JK"
