  1. Ouch. Well done. Flip the viewpoint around.. this wierdo checks his server logs and finds traffic spikes over the years tracing back to some football message board. He states "There's a cluster of twisted Bills fans who visit my site.." --- Related - Don't visit the Goatse links on Slashdot forums. Not for the faint of heart.
  2. Per your direction, consider this post to be busting your balls. Bflo, 20-9.
  3. When looking at how a spread is calculated, I envision too different techniques: 1. The spread is designed to get the general public to bet nearly evenly on both sides of the game. In this scenario: the spread is not based on level comparison of the two teams about to meet... the spread accounts for "popularity" or un-popularity. The Book's goal is to balance incoming bets to each team. (book makes $ on transaction cost) or 2. The spread is the score that the book actually thinks will happen. It is arrived at by comparing technical details of how the teams compare to each other. Popularity is not a factor at all. It's o-line compared to d-line, home field, injuries etc. So how is a spread calculated? I think popularity is part of the process. I remember one season, can't remember which, where the Bills were a perpetual spread underdog for almost all 16 games. Rationally evaluated, the Bills were hot on the field that year, Kelly was putting points on the board. But they were persistently underestimated by the public at large... so the books gave more points to Bflo to keep incoming bets even. People who picked the Bills made a killing that season. ..or that's how I see it. How are these spreads calculated?
  4. Success for him would be nice... reports are he's been a positive teammate.
  5. This time with a different QB... so it would be over-simplifying to say TO's yardage shortfall (relative to his pay check) are because of TE. I had audio only, so could not see details, but I kept listening for TO to break a big one when Fitz came in. But it never came. Did the Jets have him double covered allot? Or maybe.. has TO lost a step? He is about the age, if not older, than when Eric Moulds took a dip in production.
  6. There was that. But Riddick was good at short yardage. Granted.. his o-line opened good holes.
  7. Well.. you are correct. Any new owner would have to be approved by the other owners. But, just about anyone would be approved. The owners are on flimsy legal grounds to bar ownership to particular people. So they would choose not not to bar ownership to anyone unless it was a slam dunk case. So, it is pretty safe in casual conversation to say the Bills will be sold to the highest bidder.
  8. 'Rex Appeal' gives Jets a new swagger I wanna puke when I read 'swagger' It's right up there with 'high motor' .. "fine young man" .. "XXX % effort" .. "play for 60 minutes". Blah blah. Swag this. What NFL cliche irritates the crap out of you this year?
  9. The Bills own Rob Riddick. Maybe not a spectacular career, but Rob Riddick "3rd and XX" equaled 1st down, or "XX and goal" equaled touchdown.
  10. Ryan Fitzpatrick? On second thought, you may be right. Ryan Fitz and Trent are probably the same skill wise. But maybe the demotion of TE would light a fire under the other players. But really... I'm looking more at AVP as the problem. No offense to AVP, but he's in over his head.
  11. May as well end it today. We're just swimming in legitimate alternatives.[/sarcasm]
  12. Nothing? I think that is over-stating the old goat's impact on the team. Was he not the team owner during 4 straight Superbowls.. and some strong seasons before and after that period? I suggest it isn't Ralph. It's mediocre coach after mediocre coach... and stiff QB after stiff QB. While Ralph can be held accountable for hiring stiffs, you have to admit that luck is part of the hiring process. When I hire people at work, I know luck is huge. People who interview like rock stars end up being douche bags, and mediocre interviews have led to rock star hires. Look at all wunder-coaches TBD posters have wanted over the years that have flamed out of the NFL and are eking it out in college or retirement. Luck is part of the hiring process. Bad QB's are pretty common in the NFL.. sadly, crummy old Trent stinks, but many teams have worse. Luck is part of hiring a QB. Ryan Leif as an example of bad luck..? Really... Belichek was fricken lucky with Brady. Yes, Ralph's decisions have contributed to the Bills problems. But, honestly, bad luck is probably bigger than Ralph.
  13. Why are people freakin about 1-2. Big effing deal. At this point in the season, you can see "disaster", but you can also see "mediocre" and "yeah baby" seasons. We're at FREAKCON BRAVO. At the end of this season, it's very likely you will see our two losses to date (NE and NOLA) in the top 5. When you wake up on Oct 19... it's possible to see the Bills at 4-2. Chill pill people. Even if they lose to Miami; it's not time to go FREAKCON DELTA. Though, maybe FREAKCON CHARLIE would be justified.
  14. This thread is rich. OMG. Swagger is right up there with 110% and high motor.
  15. Egads.. yall making fun of the "rocket surgery" comment are so droll. It's the equivalent of when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor. If you don't get that, please do not reply. Please.
  16. RWS... it's paid for. One more wow for that. Debt: RWS = unknown.. but not much Gillette = 325 mil Cowboys = 1 bill
  17. Yeah. Whatever. Ho hum. Here's the deal: the so called culture of losing can TURN ON A DIME. Example: the Bills were slaughtered by the Phins game after game after game in the late 70's early nineties. Then in one game with Bruce and Jim Kelly... the Bills owned them. In one game the culture of losing was flipped. Fans flooded Rich Stadium (the name then) field after the game and tore down the goal posts after we beat the fish and broke a legendary losing streak. Can't place the date at the moment... Anyhow.. the point being: whoop-dee-doo.. don't buy this culture of losing crap from some stiff writer from out of town. I gotta feeling we may be on the tipping point again. From losers to winners.
  18. Ah. This thread is full of haters. I'd say it's still Stage 5. I predict Stage 6 by the end of the season. Hate Model Stage 1: The Haters Gather Stage 2: The Hate Group Defines Itself Stage 3: The Hate Group Disparages the Target Stage 4: The Hate Group Taunts the Target Stage 5: The Hate Group Attacks the Target Without Weapons Stage 6: The Hate Group Attacks the Target with Weapons Stage 7: The Hate Group Destroys the Target
  19. AVP is a class act. I can't put my finger on specific reasons, but my image of AVP is as a class act. Having said that, his credentials to be OC are about the same as Turk = backup QBs with thin and mediocre records. Actually, if you like player W-L records, Turk handily beats AVP. As starter: Turk is 7-5, AVP is 2-5. I think the key to AVP success will be whether he tries to "overhaul" the system, or whether he tries to "refine" it gradually. If AVP comes in with gradual changes to the Schonert system, he will experience moderate success. If he comes in with a system rebuild, we're doooomed.
