  1. He also does profound prayer with evangelical nuts and then makes fun of them privately. tr8ump wasn't the prez or owner of an entire sycophant party 40 years ago...
  2. unsurprised your cheering on Putin. Meanwhile, WW3 is starting https://www.lemonde.fr/en/germany/article/2025/05/26/germany-s-merz-says-western-allies-no-longer-impose-range-limits-on-ukrainian-weapons_6741699_146.html#
  3. I don't see this at all. trump is unique if not only for Jan 6. He fomented an insurrection against our democracy unparalleled in our history other than by the actions of the traitors in the civil war. None of the country club, establishment R's were gauche and purposefully showy. A pine covered porch on a grand old house in Maine has been replaced by gold toilets and trophy wives. Oakhill and Augusta and the Masters have been replaced by mar a lago, doral and the Saudi based LIV tour. Most importantly, seasoned advisors and cabinet members have been replaced by totally unqualified tv news presenters and podcasters who swear loyalty. Cheney was awful but at least he was seasoned. Real R's rarely drastically cut social spending because they knew it could result in unrest and conflict that could also injure their well heeled contingency. Welfare is cheaper than quelling rioting. They never publicly hung out with white supremacists and hate group leaders. They never tried to alienate our allies, especially Europe and NATO. They never attacked academia and science head on. Yes, they wrongly believed in trickle down economics would work but trump doesn't believe it. he doesn't care. Finally, the old fashioned conservatives never engaged in the level of self dealing and corruption trump has. Most had tooo much respect for their and their families' legacies. trump doesn't care.
  4. link? that's quite a claim. virtually the entire world locked down, not just the US. Many different cultures and physicians came to the same conclusion. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-023-45934-2 https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama-health-forum/fullarticle/2821581#google_vignette Your turn.....
  5. Appeal to authority is not fallacious when the authorities are widely respected experts. When is appeal to authority legitimate? An appeal to authority is not always a fallacy. Citing the informed opinion of an expert is legitimate in an argument when certain criteria is met: The authority is an expert in the specific subject area under discussion. Citing your cousin who is a law student in a discussion about a legal issue is therefore fallacious. However, citing your lawyer, who is qualified to give advice, is legitimate. The statement of the authority falls within their area of expertise. If someone is an expert in one area, it does not automatically mean they are an expert in all areas. A medical doctor, for instance, is qualified to speak about diseases, but not about the stock market. There is agreement among experts about the topic under discussion. Although disputes among experts are part and parcel of the advancement of knowledge, there are certain domains where there is a significant amount of legitimate dispute. For example, for every qualified economist arguing for a certain position or theory, there is another one arguing for an entirely different position. You appeal to false authority every time you cite trump. he's only expert in deception.
  6. i guess trump failed to mention that the golden dome doesn't work without Canada. Would be helpful if they didn''t hate us. no so easy to be isolationist... https://www.politico.com/news/2025/05/23/trump-canada-golden-dome-00366410
  7. it was the correct thing to do based on the science available. it saved millions of lives. how much is that worth to you?
  8. some good ones from $12. these are rated best https://www.wineenthusiast.com/culture/wine/best-montepulciano-dabruzzo-wines/
  9. And there you have it . The rest of the world hates us while holding most of our debt. No doubt much the same as trump’s private businesses.
  10. I think this is an olive branch. He needs to say the 51st state shite is silliness.
  11. yeah, my ambition is at bay from a backache. Getting old sucks.
  12. It's probably 1/2 and 1/2 maga's and progressives that buy tix but the wine oils the chains...we have a good time together.
  13. It's an awesome event. $40 for 6 wines, 1 nonalcoholic sparkling wine, 1 local draft beer, a dessert table with good cheeses, silent auction and jazz band. What's not to like? The lady that owns the wine shop sells it at cost to us and takes back any unused/unsold.
  14. We had a few bottles of this shared between our group this weekend. California value.. I think Justin cab is also a good deal. https://www.winedeals.com/wine/red-wine/cabernet-sauvignon/daou-cabernet-sauvignon-750-ml-81514.html?msclkid=4a8e1baa4d9217d9c947739b4ab26036&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=BPA - Items - Red Wine|C%3A70&utm_term=4580840329736053&utm_content=BPA Item - Red Wine|22-49|C%3A70
  15. Me too. I also like Oregon reds. Thee local wine store makes much of its profit on French wines. She also sells French cheese. She's pretty concerned with staying afloat. Wegman's cheese from their cave is amazing but sadly the closest Wegmans is 3 hours. Many, many people enjoy good wines and cheese. Our so themed party brings in all kinds of folks and is our biggest Rotary fundraiser. You should look for one. Might change your mind.

  17. if new is effectively lowering tax rates while increasing overall spending, this budget is far from new.
  18. looked it up. you can deduct car depreciation if you use it to work. lots of criteria to fulfill tho.
  19. It was a joke. clearly a bad one. I believe you can deduct the mortgage interest on your primary residence. I'm prey sure you can't deduct the interest on a truck loan.

  22. I mean trump and the truth have always been enemies.
  23. iPhones, good wine and cheese are about to get more expensive. The street is not happy. Neither am I https://www.cnbc.com/2025/05/22/stock-market-today-live-updates.html
