Why do you think so. Miami has many needs, Q.B. is one of them. If Miami were to stay @ #2 why would they not pick Alex Smith? That said, I think they would rather have more picks and be happy to trade with the Bucs. I agree with Gruden if the Bucs can move to #2 to take Smith, I hope they do. I don't think you can guarantee he will be there @ 5.

There has been no local talk of trading up for Edwards, the talk is they may trade up with Miami for a Q.B. They now have a journeyman in Brian Griese, and Chris Simms is in his contract year. It would not suprise me at all if they take a Q.B. at #2

You you are so right. How about Lamonica -went on to star for the Raiders for a washed up has been Tom Flores.

The trade also includes Shelton. Shelton + 44=low #1 or very high #2 IMO.

I think the reason TD does not trade Travis for Shelton straight up is Draft picks. Jennings was signed to a very large contract by the 49'ers. If the Bills do not replace him they will receive a high compensory pick. If they do, they will not get that pick - which is why the Bills got no pick for losing Winfield, they got Vincent to replace him. I think TD feels if they get Shelton (who is just as good as Jennings & does not have the injury problems) + change of #2 picks that is value & he makes the trade. Without the swap of picks the Bills keep Travis ( either for back up or draft pick - if a deal can be made) & receive the compensory pick.

If you want to go by points, then you should have subtracted the 780 points which we got back from Dallas 1354 - 780 = 574 the amount we gave up to Draft J.P. I do not like that system myself. Statistics can usually be used to defend both sides of an arguement.

Yes you tag him. You then have more time to try to sign him. If you can't sign him you can trade him for sure. I guarantee you there would be a number of teams to trade with.

If we don't keep Nate you can bet TD will get something of value for him.

The Bucs are interested in Shelton but do not have $, they are in cap hell. I don't think the Bucs have any real interest in Henry.

He was also bad at center when he first got here. I think McNally has really helped him improve. Line could have Williams at L-tackle & Teague at R-tackle.

I'm saying we would be happy to keep him even with the tag & hope to get him to sign a long term deal. I think he is a top 10 corner + he is a probowl type punt returner which you neglect to mention.

We did not tag Winfield or Jennings because neither is a top 5 player at his position - the price it would have cost to tag them. Tagging a player can bite you in the ass if you are not prepared to keep him - ask the Raiders. I think we would be happy to keep Nate for the average of the top 5 which is what the tag would cost.
