  1. Venn diagrams also really boost one's perceived cleverness.
  2. When Brown walked away was he hunched over as if his lower back was bothering him??????
  3. However if you're gonna place blame on Mayock, the same or even more should be apportioned to his puppet master, one Jon David Gruden.
  4. I believe their new OC is Todd Monken and he doesn't want his QBs wearing the wristbands because he thinks it ######s their understanding of the offense. This is a hugely pivotal year for Lamar Jackson. The Ravens are doing everything they can to get him up to the level of the true superstar QBs.
  5. I have several friends and family members who post here and it's important to me that they know how much smarter I am than them.
  6. Disagree but neither is a HOFer.
  7. At first I thought that one dude's forearm... never mind.
  8. Another solid take. You can be a tough negotiator without offending the other party. That's why the best sports agents are successful because they are negotiating repeatedly within the same small community. They understand that they can't afford to offend people who are essentially their business partners. If Raccuia was offending high-ranking public officials and community leaders, that's not tolerable. I work in construction and project management. Yes you can usually assume overruns especially with stadium projects BUT there's an acceptable level and then there's the point above that where people lose their jobs. Successful people like Pegula don't just shrug off blow budgets.
  9. Different subtopic, in Tim Graham's article on the subject it's clear that Raccuia was surprised by his termination. This implies that he was comfortable in his job... perhaps he felt untouchable... That's what it sounds like to me too.
  10. That's true but last offseason he had lower back surgery and many of us, rightly or not, are still holding our breath about his health...due also to the fact that he's 6'8" and also to the general nature of back pain and injuries.
  11. I'm grateful for what Scott has created and also for the many insightful, knowledgeable, intelligent, and articulate posters here. Being around the percentage of you that fits the above description makes the community worthwhile and even enriching. Here's to you @SDS and to the community!
  12. One day's difference doesn't change the concern much in my eyes. There was also a separate report earlier in the week that after one play, Brown got up very slowly in a manner which suggested his back was the issue. Until he proves otherwise there will be justifiable concern. Absolutely. There's no doubt Beane is doing what he always does (even in his sleep). I think it was after the Poona Ford signing in which Beane was quoted as saying something like "team building is a 365 day a year job." If there are shortcomings in Beane's work, diligence is definitely not one of them. His work ethic is legendary... he turned down a higher-paying job to accept an interrnship with Carolina. He was practically a ball boy when he started his NFL career.
  13. i thought the 100% responsibility of cost overruns by the Bills could be a contributing factor in the firing. The budget is $1.54 billion and they're already looking at 30% over after barely breaking ground? This was a huge concession by the Bills IMO and purely from the team perspective, not a good one. Atop the other reasons this could have been the last straw.
  14. These reports are always appreciated and thanks for posting JJ.
  15. The concern is that injuries will prevent him from reaching his potential as a player and living up to his draft position. Actually without going case to case, I believe the Bills are one of the teams that rush players back less often than the NFL norm. Brandon Shell is a prototypical specimen. His uncle is a Hall of Famer at the same position. He's played 70 games in the NFL and started 61 of those. He's one of the best backup tackles in the NFL.
  16. Meanwhile Cam Jordan, future Hall of Famer and selected 21 picks after Dareus just re-upped with the Saints... again. https://www.nfl.com/news/cameron-jordan-saints-two-year-extension-27-5-million
  17. I personally don't like Aaron Rodgers and I too have suspicions about his character. Therefore I can't say you're wrong however I think he's still good enough and smart enough to have a solid year. It should be fun to watch unfold for sure.
  18. The shame in that is that some posters are put on ignore not because their posts suck, but because they're broken records. Occasionally @newcam2012 will post something good and if he's on ignore, then that post gets lost and no one wins. To me the moral of the story is that people shouldn't post unless they truly believe they are bringing something of value to the conversation. Unfortunately there are some people here who post too much and can't limit themselves... and that's probably the biggest problem on most message boards.
  19. Yes, the wildcard for the entire AFC East IS Aaron Rodgers. Noticeably and in contrast to previous seasons, he has been schmoozing with teammates and participating in OTAs and other team building activities this offseason. Clearly he has heard all of the negativity about his offseason habits and inability to work with his young receivers. There's no doubt that Rodgers understands that his legacy is at stake in New York. Right now he's the greatest QB to win only one Super Bowl and a guy who has left a lot of meat on the bone in his career. It's not lost on Rodgers that he has the opportunity to change this narrative.
  20. Behind a paywall but as requested: https://theathletic.com/4740116/2023/08/01/buffalo-bills-training-camp-5/
  21. And for those freaking out about Shakir, "Then on fourth down, safety Cam Lewis made up for fellow safety Taylor Rapp’s poor angle to the throw and made an outstanding pass breakup deep over the middle against receiver Khalil Shakir. "
  22. Thank you. From The Athletic just minutes ago: "The first-team defense wound up with six would-be sacks on only 25 dropbacks, and on some of the pass attempts, Allen had to settle for a shorter throw because the pressure got there quickly. After three good days of offensive success, the defense battled back to win the day at the line of scrimmage, and then dominated the final portion of practice, as well." Chillax, people... this is the natural ebb and flow of training camp practices.
  23. Fair enough JB but I'm happy to see the season play out and see if the money was properly allocated... and I'm certainly not going to assume that it wasn't. I think I can speak for many Bills fans that there was extreme concern about our pass rush without Von Miller. I think very many Bills fans are feeling good about our pass rush now with the signing of Leonard Floyd.
  24. Henry Ellard? He could go play pickle ball with Leslie Frazier! Dan Reeves: 190-165-2. Jeff Fisher: 173-165-1. Tom Landry: 250-162-6. Don Shula: 328-156-6. Bill Belichick: 298-152-0. C'mon. You're a good poster so I can't believe that you believe what you typed. Who else is there in that organization that has one iota of influence? There's almost zero skepticism to the belief that every football decision made in that organization is Belichick's. Here are a few things that doubters of Belichick getting fired don't seem to appreciate: He and Robert Kraft don't like each other. The Boston sports market is viciously competitive and it's a zero-sum game. Kraft doesn't want to be 4th string in publicity or revenue to the Bosox, the Celtics, and the Bruins. The Patriots fans are largely spoiled and have unrealistic expectations. This combined with the events following the departure of Brady (namely the Patriots sucking and Brady winning a Super Bowl in Tampa) has caused a large segment of their fanbase to withdraw their support of Belichick and their interest in the team. These are all things that close observers of the Boston sports scene are aware of but those outside the market are largely unaware of.
  25. The trade away of DeAndre Swift makes me think they don’t want a star running back. I think Etienne’s comments landed closer to Derrick Henry. Barkley has a good all-around game. Yup. Spoiled rich kid who inherited the team and has too much money and time in his quartile.
