  1. Again, the ONLY point I was making was that Josh didn't underthrow the ball. I never absolved Davis of the drop. Jeebers.
  2. I think it was pretty obvious that my point was that Josh didn't underthrow the ball.
  3. Josh didn't underthrow the ball... that ball was at the limit of his range for his body position. The problem is that he threw the ball too late. Had Josh thrown it earlier Davis wouldn't have had to wait for it and would have maintained separation/caught the ball in stride.
  4. If they're "Men without Hats" why was the dwarf wearing a hat? Or are dwarves not considered men? Back on topic, as mentioned upthread the Ravens play a base 3-4 where Campbell played 3 technique and 5 technique. In the Bills 4-3 scheme he could play both end and tackle and there's some thought that he could replace Jordan Phillips whereas some see him as a replacement for Shaq Lawson. I loved the passion that Lawson played with last year but when healthy Jordan Phillips is one of the best pass rushing DTs in football. When Phillips is healthy he does a reasonable imitation of Chris Jones. If I were to lose one of Lawson or Phillips for Campbell (assuming all players are healthy in 2023) I would rather lose Lawson. JMO.
  5. To varying degrees, we all want more than we're gonna get. And some people deal with that fact better than others.
  6. AND YOU CALL YOURSELF A FAN!!!!!????
  7. I agree with you but you've made the discussion "incrementally" more complex by introducing the idea of injuries to specific players. I think very few teams can absorb the loss of players like Stefon Diggs, Von Miller, Travis Kelce, Aaron Donald, etc, etc, etc. Assuming Diggs and Miller remain healthy I think the receiving corps is stronger than last years and will be fine... as long as Dorsey improves. I do wish we had another pass rusher to mix in with Miller and Rousseau.
  8. So... you're saying Beane can't multi-task?
  9. Beane is one of the most respected NFL GMs around. He's won awards for his professional work. I'm pretty sure he's able to multi-task.
  10. The way to look at a Calais Campbell signing is whether he's a better value and has a greater impact than Shaq Lawson. And to top it off he was rushed to the hospital for an emergency surgery which was unsuccessful.
  11. Yes, I'm lukewarm at best about Campbell. However, one thing that hasn't come up in these hundreds of pages of free agent conversations is that there is a legit point to be made for "incremental improvement." Of course everyone wants the splash signing for a "difference maker." I understand that signings like the Bills have done so far don't move the needle but what happens if a team like the Bills is successful at improving 4-5 positions during one offseason?
  12. Campbell wouldn't be brought in primarily for his pass rush. Epenesa is irrelevant to this discussion. Yes, Baltimore plays a base 3-4 defense. Campbell would likely play inside on passing downs. He has 57 passes defensed and 9 blocked field goals in his career. He effectively blocks passing lanes. What Campbell brings to the table at this point is leadership, toughness and a high football IQ.
  13. How about if what is being reported is semi-true? Dinner at Tempo... hell have Russ Brandon at the dinner...
  14. Isn't that on the dollar menu? Regardless, don't call him McClappy... there are a few people around here that are very sensitive about that. There are 4 former Offensive Coordinators on the staff right now... Rob Boras, Mike Shula, Aaron Kromer, and Joe Brady. There's plenty of offensive expertise in the building... Dorsey has to figure out how to blend the talents of all of these coaches. Same as with the offense, it's likely that the expertise and talent exists within the current coaching staff. It's a matter of McDermott soliciting feedback from his coaches channeling their ideas at the right times.
  15. Okay. How about... "Ive heard of him!" Well, both Bates and McGovern have played center before. Possibly an heir apparent for Morse/future starter but I don't think we need backup depth at center. Don't worry... it's early. The vultures will smell this soon enough.
  16. Has started 45 of 53 games played. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/E/EdwaDa01.htm Pre-Draft Scouting Report: https://www.nfl.com/prospects/david-edwards/32004544-5733-7483-3a0b-c9cc2e7a9e47
  17. Good read. Thanks for posting the link. In discussions on this forum, there's no difference between Hodgins and Hopkins for all intents and purposes.
  18. You ain't kidding... look at this pregame exhalation cloud...
  19. They both triggered compensation per NFL rules. Yes, and it raises the question, "Who's laughing now?"
  20. The sarcasm wasn't directed at me but there's a way you can make your point without being a d_ck bout it. I understand the general defense of Dorsey but the criticism of him is based partly on his inability to reign-in Josh as Daboll successfully did. It seems pretty clear that Daboll kept Josh on a shorter leash... to good results. Of course we all hope that Dorsey learned from and will improve on his first year.
  21. I was happy for the advent of the rookie pay scale and kind of wish the veterans had one too... based on things such as years of service, games started, multi-source grading of performance, accolades, etc. This is but a general thought but the devil is in the details, as they say. The hypothetical scale would compel the team to pay that player a short term but fully guaranteed contract. Then you wouldn't see the evaporation of the middle class of NFL players. Of course this will never happen.
  22. I've never heard he was a problem in the locker room but he's a bit of a problem on airplanes. Why would you say it's luck? The San Francisco 49ers have been awarded 7 compensatory picks from Robert Saleh (New York Jets), Mike McDaniel (Miami Dolphins) and DeMeco Ryans (Houston Texans), and general managers Martin Mayhew (Washington Commanders) and Ran Carthon (Tennessee Titans). Is that luck too or is it maybe they decided to hire qualified minority candidates when other teams weren't doing so? Isn't it more likely that KC and SF are a step or two ahead of the competition? When Frazier left I wanted the Bills to replace him with Steve Wilkes for this very reason. I'm pretty sure Wilkes (who did an excellent job as Carolina's interim Head Coach) will get another opportunity to become a Head Coach. Incidentally the Niners hired Wilkes to replace the departed DeMeco Ryans. Prepare yourself for more compensatory picks to San Francisco.
