    $3.3 million is the cost of a 2nd round tender. $2.2 million is the cost of the tender the Bills gave Bates. For $1M more, the Bears or Vikings would have had to send the Bills a 2nd round pick to sign him. Which probably wouldn’t happen. So we would have him in 2022 for $3.3M.

    I would label that as a good problem to have.

    Perhaps this is one of the many reasons why he is an NFL gm and I am not, but I find it hard to reconcile that he would want the player on the team at $2.3 million, but not $3.3 million? The difference is so slight that it doesn’t make sense to me.

    I’m genuinely surprised that Beane allowed a measly $1 million to be the difference between keeping and losing Bates.

    It’s kind of funny watching people hype up the signing, and then as soon as he backs out “oh he wasn’t that good anyway”.

    I wouldn’t doubt it. People like to feel important. What quicker way to do that than to show a fan of your best friends team, secret stuff?

    It is his job. Great coaches do this all the time. Belichick routinely goes up to individual players and position groups in key situations.

    There are reports that Daboll was the pick when Schoen was hired. That the entire process was a complete sham.

    It sounds like it’s not just a card in this instance. The Giants interviewed him 3 days after already deciding on Daboll. That is a complete sham.

    I’m not so sure about that. I would say we have an assemblage of good and very good talent. Not much elite.
