Correct. DVOA doesn’t even adjust for opponents until after Week 4.

Von Miller prediction thread-when will he return to the lineup?
Einstein replied to TBBills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Is it? I disagree. Forget injury for a moment. Think about freshness alone. You don’t see the benefit of our 34 year old pass rusher having less wear and tear from the season on him when he enters the playoffs? -
There are no must win games this early in the season, but this game is extremely important. Going down 0-2 in the division and 1-2 in the conference and Miami going to 4-0 with two cupcake teams coming up on their schedule is not a great scenario. I really think we need this W.

Unless something changes with our defensive performance, I don’t see any reason to rush him back. I’m perfectly content with keeping him on PUP until week 8. Starting the 21 day window then and making him active with 4 or so weeks left in the season. We need him for the playoff run. -

That graph makes little sense. How does one have negative seperation? And why are the worst performing CB’s to the axis of the negative separation? Is 0 the mean and separation is plotted at either less than or greater than the mean? -
Terrel Bernard named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

I was thinking just "Bernard" would do. -

Bienemy appears to think he still has Mahomes. He called a run play only 4 or 5 times in the first half. -

Again, I believe you are wrong. Cover 1 does as well. -

I disagree. The Commanders motioned into Shotgun split on multiple plays. Bernard was able to recognize this particular direction due to Milano being the Mike. -

This is really impressive work by Bernard. Miami called out Milano as the MLB and Bernard instantly recognized the play and direction. -
What is so frustrating about Gabe is that he is everything you want in a #2 as far as putting the work in, being a great teammate, having the skills and talent to do the job…. but he will also, without a doubt, drop crucial passes at the worst time. That includes contested balls. NFL receivers need to be able to catch contested balls. The drop in the end zone against Miami last year cost us that game. Other things in the game cost us too - but Gabe’s drop was one of them. That was the difference between the #1 seed and having a bye week, and having to face Cinci round 2.

They could make these an hour long and i’d watch the entire thing.

Dan Orlovsky on the Bills Offense Yesterday
Einstein replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen's numbers being better with play-action is not what is unique about what I posted. What is unique is the massive gap between Allen's non-play-action and play-action numbers. For example... Allen's QB rating goes up 30 points with play-action. Mahomes QB rating goes up only 8 points with play-action. Tuas QB rating goes up 0 points with play-action. Bradys QB rating goes up only 7 points with play-action. Staffords QB rating goes up only 12 points with play-action. Burrows QB rating goes up 0 points with play-action. Watsons QB rating goes up 8 points with play-action. Prescotts QB rating goes up 8 points with play-action. Rodgers QB rating goes up only 13 points with play-action. So yes, QB's typically fare better with play-action, but Allen is extremely unique with HOW MUCH better he is with play-action. A massive, whopping, 30 point difference. -

That still results in 4.5 yards per carry given up, which would be tied for 10th worst in NFL rush defense. This strategy could work but it relies on perfect gap integrity by the 3 DL and excellent tackling by the 8 in coverage. Otherwise Miami would just hand the ball off all day. -

That is what I expected him to be. He is not a burner. Travis Kelce runs a 4.6. I have been unimpressed with Harty in the minimal amount of time we have seen him. Lots of season left to prove me wrong but so far i’m questioning spending $10M on him. -
McD much better D coordinator than Frazier
Einstein replied to TwistofFate's topic in The Stadium Wall
I doubt the Bills would ever confirm that, but there was an NFL insider that said McDemott did take over defensive play calling in 13 seconds. Allegedly that was the beginning of the fracture between McD and Frazier. It could be BS, but just reminding you of where the poster may have gotten that info. -

What have you noticed schematically or otherwise that shows McDermott’s aggressiveness? Not arguing, just curious. My theory is that Bernards aggressive play style in the middle has swayed people into thinking the defense is being called more aggressively. I personally have noticed very little difference, schematically. . -

This is a photo I took of the Jags game yesterday. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Towards the end of 2nd quarter, if I recall correctly. -

He is getting rid off the ball so fast that it is certainly possible. Tua is, on average, releasing the ball only 2.3 seconds after the snap. That is #1 in the NFL -

Yes - when more than 4 defenders rushed the quarterback. -

The only way that this would be coach related is if Frazier was telling players to not play with their intuition or read the QB's eyes. I have a hard time believing that.
