1) Dodson played 62% of the snaps. Dorian played 36%. Dodson was by far the higher graded of the two, with an 85.5 grade compared to a 32.7 for Dorian. PFF has Dorian missing 40% of his attempted tackles. They are essentially saying that he was flying to the ball, but not finishing. 2) Allen had the highest CPAE (Completion Percentage Above Expectation) in the NFL this week at 8%. This means Allen completed 8% more of his passes than he should have. Allen’s adjusted completion % (completions + drops / aimed) was 86%. 3) I don’t know what we are going to do about Spencer Brown. The Bills are giving him help on more than 50% of his snaps and he is still well below the mean. This chart shows how often NFL tackles are left on an island (no help). Brown is 2nd to last in the entire NFL. The only player needing more help is Jermaine Eluemunor, who Raiders fans universally want released. 4) With play-action, Allen completed 87.5% of his passes with a 14.9 YPA yesterday. He completed 62.5% of his passes with a 7.5 YPA without play action. To really drive this point home, look at his EPA per play both with play-action and without. He has a 3x larger EPA per play with play-action than without. 5) Kingsley Jonathan was the highest rated Bills defensive player yesterday at a 92.1. He had 2 hurries, 1 sack, 2 stops and 1 forced fumble. Epenesa was right behind him at 85.7. 6) James Cook had an 11.3 pass block grade, which is the lowest I can personally recall ever seeing. Damien Harris had an 82.3 pass block grade. 7) DaQuan left the game after the 4th play. Milano left the game after the 11th play. Rousseau never played. Tre White never played. Benford never played. That’s FIVE starters out. Yet the defense still forced 2 turnovers and 5 punts. 8- Dawkins really struggled yesterday, especially with the other Josh Allen. It was clear from watching the game and PFF saw it too. He had the lowest pass blocking grade of all the linemen. 9) McDermott mentioned after the game that it’s hard to win when you can’t run. EPA shows that he is correct. Our EPA per dropback was top 10 in the NFL this week. Our running EPA was towards the bottom in the NFL. 10) Elam gave up 6 receptions for 93 yards and was eventually benched. No other Bills player gave up more than 3 receptions. Dane gave up 3 receptions for 30 yards. 11) Taron Johnson was very vocal after the game about how poor the turf was. Mentioned his feet would get stuck. For those interested you can see his comments here. 12) Spacing has felt off all season long. There are 4 Bills receiving options, all within 10 yards of each other. We are not making them defend every blade of grass. We are making them defend a very small piece of grass. This was a big 3rd down that we didn't convert. 13) I have absolutely no idea what we gave Harty a $10M contract for. He played roughly 25% of the snaps this week and is averaging 2.2 receptions per game. His special teams contribution has been 5 returns for 40 yards. I just genuinely don’t understand what the plan is for him. 14) Last note on Allen. HIs passing chart shows solid numbers to all areas and depths of the field. 15) Lastly, Ben Johnson is the most innovative, fun, creative play caller I have ever seen. I hope he is hired by an NFC team. This is one of the many plays he calls. It constantly keeps defenses guessing.

Kaiir Elam is a liability any time he is on the field

Jackson only gave up 3 receptions for 30 yards... Elam gave up double that. -
Core Players Who Will be Here for Super Bowl Run
Einstein replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall
I honestly doubt it. The 2021 squad matches up with the Rams really well. In fact, the Rams were built (at that moment) similar to KC who we should have beat. An incredible interior d-linemen but the rest of the defense was average, and a high scoring offense. I will always believe that 2021 was our year. We were clicking on offense unlike i’ve ever seen before. I’ve had a very hard time forgiving McD for the coaching blunders in that game. -
I didn’t hear that in the press conference. Well that explains that. It was a TD all day if hit in stride. Did he mention what happened on the first long throw to Diggs? The one where no defender was within 15 yards of him?

Copied by the 49ers just 8 hours later. That was fast!

Clinically speaking, you spent your Bills formative years in a constant state of hope. Every 3 years you got a new coach and QB and there existed renewed hope for a winning combination that would bring home a Lombardi. Now, you don’t have any new combinations coming. You got the QB - long term. And the coach isn’t going anywhere. You know there is no new combination coming. You just have to hope that your current combination will figure it out. Every year that the long term combination doesn’t work, you feel more and more hopeless… because there is no hope for a different combination in the near future. Or not. I’m not a psychiatrist.

Im trying to stay positive but it’s hard. If we had just lost the game, I’d feel more hopeful. But we lost a lot more than that. We aren’t bringing home a healthy team to fight on. From now on we go to battle without our all-star CB that was starting to round back into form. Without our all-star LB who now has a broken leg. Without our high level DT, who likely has a torn pec. With our hall-of-fame DE on a pitch count.

Those stats are counting ALL deep throws. Including covered deep throws, jump ball deep throws, passes that should have been called pass interference deep throws, etc. Throws to wide open receivers would be a much much much higher completion rate.
-
It really is most of them. The Titans game last year is one where he hit him in stride.
-
For the season, the Jags give up twice the amount of yards per play against 11 personnel than 12.

Losing Jones may be as impactful as losing Milano. Losing both is close to worst case scenario in my opinion.

Why weren’t the Bills allowed to play on the grass?
Einstein replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thats what I was guessing but I don’t know much about that domain so I didn’t want to sound like an idiot. -
That’s kind of a misrepresentation of todays offensive performance though. Nearly half (43%) of the offenses total yardage came in the last 3 minutes and 41 seconds of the game. For the vast majority of the game, we could not move the ball. Our drives prior to those final 3 minutes were: Punt Punt Punt Punt Touchdown Punt Punt Interception .

Kaiir Elam is a liability any time he is on the field
Einstein replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
That’s expected in my opinion. Hyde is a safety, not a corner, and doesn’t have the speed to keep up with Ridley. McDermott had benched Elam by that point and went Cover 0. -

Not sure if it's OK for me to say this...but Poyer is toast
Einstein replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
He looked a step slow last season. He looks 3 steps slow this season. One of my favorite Bills ever but his prime is behind him. Thank you for your service Po.- 52 replies

Jacksonville didn’t seem to have any injury issues on it. Reminds me of the Bengals playoffs game where we were slipping and sliding all over the place but the Bengals ran just fine.- 60 replies

We got VERY little pass rush today. Rousseou was out, but Von Miller was in. Perhaps PFF picked up on something through 4 weeks that some of us hadn’t.
-
Aimee, no one said Josh was the problem and you would be hard pressed to find a bigger Allen fan than me. Talking about two underthrown passes does not mean anyone is hating on the man.
-
I actually don’t remember. Was he under pressure on those two throws? I took screenshots mid game.
-
This is not an Allen bashing thread. Please don’t turn it into one. This is a thread to talk about Allen’s tendency to underthrow this season. In this particular game, Diggs torched his defender twice, deep, and I believe that there is a good chance that both would have been TD’s if the pass hit him in stride. On both plays, Allen underthrew him, causing Diggs to stop running or slow down drastically. He has had a couple other underthrown deep passes this season - mostly on deep throws. I’m curious what you think is causing these underthrows: Do you think Allen is under-estimating how far he needs to throw it? Is it simply too far to throw? Is he not stepping into the passes? What are your thoughts? This was the INT (Diggs had several steps on the defender). And this was the deep completion to Diggs where no one covered him (he would have walked into the endzone if the ball hit him in stride).

Agreed.
