Extremely conservative play calling that drive for only being up 1 score. They called that drive like they were up 2 scores. Almost disrespectful to the opponent.

We’ve had 3 instances of the wrong players on the field on defense.

It’s a little bit the players. There are like 3-4 guys playing that aren’t starting caliber.

He has way more talent on his offense than rookie Allen had.

Pretty sure these refs want the Saints to cover.

Announcers say Allen was out of the pocket, but I don’t think he was yet.

His arm was hit while he threw. He didn’t even follow through all the way.

It was basically equivalent to an incomplete pass and punt on that 3rd down. Ball would be about the same spot.

Safety made up a lot of ground while the ball was in the air. Only started shading over when Allen released the ball.

Unironically Allen probably thought Coleman was faster, lol. Great play by the DB.

I’m surprised they called intentional grounding considering the defender tipped it immediately and he threw it while in the process of being tackled. Pretty sure by the letter of the law it isn’t intentional grounding.

And Bishop was never starter caliber, and Rapp is a bottom of the barrel starter.

Saints really only ran 2 successful planned plays on that drive. If we can figure something out with those scrambles we should be able to shut them down.

McDermott in general seems very conservative about injuries during the regular season, which I think is a good thing. It is not black and white like you say (how often do we see guys playing in the playoffs with nagging injuries they would have sat out for in the regular season). A lot of the medical clearance depends on the players themselves reporting how they feel. A non-conference game against a bad team is about as low stakes as you'll get, and anybody who is borderline should sit.

It mostly has to do with an incredibly weak schedule. The 2nd best team is probably the Ravens and they are already 2.5 games back. The #1 seed from last season is 1-2 and looks bad. All of our hardest games are at home too. The Bills went undefeated at home last season in the regular season and playoffs! For once it seems like the football gods are smiling upon us (knock on wood).

If this thread is anything to go by, sloppy boring Thursday night football games are a boon for sports gambling companies.
