  1. These guys are full of it. This is a fake self-imposed deadline that was leaked to light a fire under interested teams. SF will absolutely trade him after the bonus is paid if the deal is right.
  2. I was going to be okay with Benford playing out his final year and seeing where he stands then (and possibly franchising him at that point). But this is a good enough price, that I'm cool with it.
  3. Part of it as a player is locking in generational wealth as soon as possible. These guys know they are one play away from their career being over. If Beane comes along and offers you $32m guaranteed (what Shakir got), it is hard to say "I'll play out the last year on my contact and hit UFA." Because that $32m could become $0. A team like the Bengals could learn a thing or two, extend your guys early.
  4. Lawyer Milloy, Drew Bledsoe, …?
  5. Couldn't disagree with this more strongly. The game is 60 minutes long and doesn't just consist of any single drive. The Bills offense scored 29 points at Arrowhead. The last time a team scored 29 points against the Chiefs at Arrowhead was Oct 10, 2022 (So essentially 3+ seasons of games including playoffs). So this was the best offensive performance in similar circumstances in over 3 seasons worth of home games. How about the defense does literally anything against an offense that could barely get going all season?
  6. Our defense wasn't built to stop anybody. But our offense was really good with a great offensive line. I bet a Bills - Eagles SB would have been a one score game, unlike the cathartic beatdown we witnessed.
  7. I still feel the same way as the day after it happened. Proud of our offense for putting up the most points against the Chiefs of any team for the past 2 seasons.* Disappointed in our defense for allowing the most points to the Chiefs of any team all year.* It was a resounding success on offense and a total failure on defense. Simple as that. * Not counting week 17 vs Broncos where they played all backups. Eagles scored more in the Super Bowl, but it hadn’t happened yet.
  8. Hamlin literally looks like he's running in mud. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.
  9. We’ll see if Cole Bishop starts. I hope he does, but the combo of Rapp/Hamlin was slow as molasses. Cam Lewis isn’t a starter. Elam wasn’t a starter. Benford ran a 4.53 which is slow for a boundary CB. Taron Johnson ran a 4.5 which is slow for a boundary CB (which is why he’s in the slot). If we can have Bishop at SS, Forrest at FS, and we can find a CB2 with wheels then we’ll have some decent speed in the secondary.
  10. Ability isn’t determined by draft round, but speed usually is. The fastest guys with ability get taken high (they don’t all work out). We have one of the slowest secondaries around.
  11. I think Dane Jackson was that veteran CB.
  12. I see two possibilities: - The Bills told Milano he will be released if he doesn’t agree to a paycut. He knows he would end up with less money if released so he agreed. - Milano feels like he has a better chance next offseason at one last good deal than two off seasons from now. He swapped a year shorter contract for $3m. He’s feeling healthy and betting on balling out, hoping for one last payday. Probably the first one, but I hope for the second one.
  13. Different sites have different values, but they all seem to agree he allowed ~120 passer rating when targeted and he wasn’t good in run support either. Especially for a contract year he was very bad. I suspect Father Time has caught up to him. I was exaggerating a little bit, he will eventually sign for a team looking for veteran depth. I really doubt he will be a starting boundary CB this upcoming season though unless the starter is injured.
  14. A couple years ago maybe. Douglas was terrible this past season. He hasn’t been signed and might not even be on a team this season.
  15. If the cost to extend Benford now and after the end of next season is approximately the same, it benefits the Bills to have him play this season and prove he can do it again. They risk losing him to UFA, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. We could also franchise tag him at that point.
  16. 2 years $21m is still pretty rich for what Palmer has shown. But you always pay a premium in FA, and we had to do something to replace the production of Cooper/Hollins. Hopefully it’s a home run.
  17. AFAIK Diggs was saying Allen was great and deserved MVP during the season. I don’t really remember any beef during the season.
  18. This is my concern. What if they are terrible once they stop taking the juice? Who remembers Merriman?
  19. My concern is how are these guys gonna look having to play clean? I assume they won’t risk another cycle this offseason. They’ll probably suck!
  20. I think small LBers can still succeed. Just depends on their ability to get off of blocks and willingness to tackle. Those require skill just as much as size IMO. I guess you could say undersized LBers are more injury prone. His height/weight are identical to Milano. I wouldn’t say his injuries were related to size (getting leg caught up in a pile and torn bicep).
  21. MAC defensive player of the year, led the nation in tackles, led LBers in tackles for loss and INTs. Consensus first team All American. Somehow he wasn’t a Butkus award finalist, and then gets snubbed by the pros due to perceived lack of athleticism (which doesn’t even seem to be the case).
  22. It was a sham that this guy didn’t get invited to the combine. Hopefully our gain.
  23. Cooper out, Palmer in -> push Miller out, Bosa in -> upgrade A. Johnson out, Ogunjobi in -> upgrade Smoot out, Hoecht in -> upgrade Forrest in -> too soon to tell They are mostly upgrades on who they replace on the roster, but only small upgrades. I don’t think anything that will move the needle a lot. We also have: Douglas out Hollins out Jordan Phillips out Q. Jefferson out Martin out Elam out On paper we might be slightly worse than last year. We still don’t have a 2nd starting boundary CB, we appear to be running it back at safety which was our weakest positional group, and we could have a RB holdout on our hands. But we do have a great offensive line and the reigning MVP.
  24. Hope he goes to the NFC
  25. Hope he can figure it out. Seems like he has the talent to be an NFL CB, just couldn't quite put it together with our scheme and coaches.
