  1. I find peoples reaction to Flutie to be interesting. To some, his name results in the same sort of violent gut reaction that only Hillary Clinton can match. On the face of it, you would think everyone would like an undersized guy who finally had some success in the NFL in his late 30's. It is quite a story and for all us average sized guys should invoke empathy. I have a few theories: 1.) Women like him too much. Kind of a male cattiness syndrome. 2.) Canadians like him too much. Some just aren't completely sure about the loyalties of countrymen that never rebelled against the Monarchy. Are they really Bills fans? 3.) Some fans supported Rob Johnson and just can't get over that the argument is over and neither side won. 4.) Big guys seem to not like Flutie. His success may challenge their feeling of macho superiority over the "wimps" of the world. 5.) He's arrogant. It is the first reason most people mention but I believe it is far down the list. Hell, hundreds of popular pro athletes are arrogant. Just my theories.
  2. Actually, in the old days, everything was entirely in blacks, whites and various gray's. At least, that is how it looked on my TV.
  3. Actually, here near Albany it is more of a Nor'easter. But that does not negate the need for a big mean croc to anchor the left side of the line. C'mon, Dwight Freeny, bring it on. Do you have the quickness to get around this guy?
  4. I stand by exactly what I said. The same people who are most eager to downplay the value of our existing players are usually the same people who are so hot for someone they have never seen play but read about on a website or a draft board. And amazingly, I am not buying a 3 negative to 1 positive ratio as some sort of statistically significant sample of opinions on this board. However, I do appreciate you calling me "man" rather than "dude".
  5. And if he were on another team all the Statophobes and Draftgurus would be all over Donohoe to sign this pass rushing stud. He is an above average defensive end in the Phil Hansen mode and that is how we are paying him. Man, the grass is greener on the other side for some people here.
  6. Did Lewport 71 graduate from LewPort in 71? We lost to them in the basketball sectionals. Some gunner named Moody was on that team. Help me here.
  7. This surprises me: Bo Jackson can't move like he used to with that artificial hip. Remember that Monday night run? If he could still move like that I would give him a real shot. Anwar Sadat is a real surprise. He has been "out of action" for quite a while and that little moustache is a little tacky. But, hey, to each their own.
  8. I had an avuncular boost once when I was thrust into a different venue. Let me tell you - it hurts.
  9. I would just love to see the line look like this Giant Man- Eating Croc, Tucker, Teague, Villarel, Williams. Plus McGahee is from Miami so he knows about running behind Man-Eating Crocs. Hope the Dolfags don't get him just because Donohoe is being an Assclown.
  10. And sign him to a long term contract NOW. I can see it already, we sign the croc, he goes all-pro (except for the holding penalties) and he will be an unrestricted free agent and will walk because friggin Donohoe does not know how to negotiate. I don't care if the croc is over 60. That is one tough mother croc.
  11. Oh, now you know more about crocs than Jim McNally!!!! I am going to count on our braintrust to put this croc in the best position to succeed and that would ensure that they would keep Williams out of sight. I am worried about Sam Adams however.
  12. Listen, moron, the croc would be playing offense, so why would he eat Mike Williams. If we have him at left tackle, he would probably eat Chris kelsay and that would not fill him up and Kelsay does not have that big of a cap hit. What if we sign the croc and trade him to Oakland for Woodson?
  13. How typical! The croc has a big name and someone wants him. He is way past his prime. Sheesh, don't some of you ever learn anything?
  14. Let me try to summarize Marangi - sucks Darragh - blows Cats - litter Dogs - Bite and Save Armadillos- squish Wyche - sat the bench Darrin and Cincy - need to stop.
  15. I can't find who Marangi's backup was after Fergy's injury. Must have he been awful.
  16. After having read this thread over again, here is my conclusion. It is all right to abuse really bad quarterbacks like Gary Marangi or Dan Darragh if they can't fight back. Armadillos can be run over but don't insult dogs in Alaska. Cats and pigeons remain optional.
  17. I remember being at a game with Kay Stephenson at QB and some fan kept yelling "get that broad off the field".
  18. Got it! You should only abuse defenseless animals. Thanks, that helps.
  19. So, if I follow this correctly, if an animal meets your obnoxious test, it would be all right to abuse the animal. Do I have that right? Setting cats on fire OK? If someone deems your dog obnoxious, what abuse can it suffer? Just trying to follow the logic here.
  20. Wow, found this site while google searching for Dennis Shaw. http://www.sportznutz.com/columns/upon_fur...view/031704.htm Someone simulated a playoff for the worst teams ever. Dennis leads us to at least two defeats against the all-time worst teams.
  21. Actually that would be September 19. http://www.talklikeapirate.com/
  22. Darrin - I find your posts insightful and humorous, but an avatar that is going to offend people seems outside the scope of the new kinder, gentler TSW.
  23. How about this one: Dan Darragh, 1968 games- 11; completions 92; attempts 215; completion pct. - 42.8 touchdowns -3, interceptions 14 at least Marangi threw for a td every 33.1 attempts, darragh threw one every 71.6 attempts.
  24. Promo- you were wise on Rocketship 7 and you are wise now. Did Commander Tom make mistakes? Of course he did? My God, even Jingles made the occasional error in helping Santa. Did Jungle Jim do no wrong? It is easy to look back and suggest that Irv Weinstein could have passed on one less fire story. But, at the time, it seemed right. Thanks for the input and may you remain well oiled.
  25. Tiger, I am probably alone here. But could you explain Parsonage-Turner Syndrome and the ramifications on his ability to start this season. Thanks in advance.
