  1. In one hour and seventeen minutes, Bradford Branta become an unrestricted free agent. We get no compensation. He just walks. Tells you everything you need to know about Donohoe doesn't it?
  2. I welcome the teams that throw obscene amounts of money at individual players. You can always count them out of the championship hunt. It is the teams like the Patriots that maximize every dollar that are the real contenders. The big spenders almost always are a disaster. Keep the money flowing for the big name stars and TD just sit back and focus on the bargains. It is proven. It works.
  3. Were you one of the people complaining when we overpaid for John Fina ten years ago?
  4. Remember, this is the time of year that Coaches feed reporters stories in order to get the other team a little more desperate. Might be true, might not, but I am not sure what interest Dennis Green would have to lay his cards on the table to some reporter.
  5. That is just not a helpful post. And just a little tasteless on top of it.
  6. Once again, you young whippersnappers have too limited time horizon. Clearly, the greatest medical show ever made was St. Elsewhere. But in honor of the gentler, kinder TBD, I offer that as my opinion and not the true fact that it really is.
  7. I liked the big Samoan singer that did "Tiny Bubbles" Next I liked the guy from Alabama that did "Helter Skelter". I liked his glasses. I thought the women from Nova Scotia that did the Lox dance was good. But I guess my favorite was the girl that did a heartfelt rendition of "My Head Hurts, My Feet Stink and I Don't Love Jesus". She had just the right touch of pathos and irony.
  8. Charlie - I don't know you but somehow, I think, somewhere along the line, we have probably had a beer together somewhere in Cheektowoga.
  9. Ah greybeard. Day, Dunaway, Sestak and McDole. Best front 4 we ever had. I KNOW that Bills team would have matched up better against Green Bay than Kansas City, but I still think we probably would have lost against a classic Packers team. The game I want is the year before in 1965 against the Cleveland Browns. We only let up one or two rushing TD's all year. You had to pass to beat us. The Browns were Jimmy Brown. He was the best of all time. What a match up that would have been. But the Browns were not as good as the Packers on defense. We could have scored on them. I see a Butch Byrd interception in the 4th quarter to knock off the mighty NFL. It could have happened.
  10. I can understand what you are saying. Those are old rivalries. I just think that in the long run a division with Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Cincy would result in new and even bigger rivalries and would allow us to compete with teams in generally the same type environment as Buffalo. With the Jets, the Patsies and the Dolphins, we are competing against big market teams that seem to draw the top coaches to them (Parcells, Johnson). The AFC East is, and will probably stay one of the top divisions in football. I love tradition-- want the old uniforms back -- hey, I could live with the Standing Buffalo helmet, but I think 3 years after we were in the AFC North, we would forget about the old rivalries.
  11. Yeah, but the draft had about 20 rounds. Wow, no message boards, no off-season football rumors, no Mel Kipers. Just sitting around waiting to find out what trouble Opie gets into tonight.
  12. Thanks, I am pretty sure that much that I have on the list happened before many of the posters here were born or at least became Bills fans but if you want to find bad moves by the Bills, there is little in the last 20 years that compares with the first 25.
  13. Let me try some of the Bills worst ever off season moves. I am leaving out bad draft picks. As it has been pointed out, you can always find draft picks that did not work out or could have worked out better in 20/20 hindsight. 1. Hiring Johnny Rauch as coach from the Raiders. He thought OJ would be better as a receiver. 2. Trading Darryl Lamonica and Billy Miller for Art Powell and Tom Flores. 3. RJ 4. Losing Joe Cribbs to the USFL. 5. Releasing Ron McDole because he was too old. 6. Changing to the new uniforms. 7. Hank Bullogh 8. Allowing Pete Gogolak to become the first ever free agent 9. Staying in the AFC East- should have gone to the AFC North 10. Allowing Al Metzler to do play-by-play instead of Van Miller in the 70's.
  14. We play a very aggressive blitz defense that leaves our corners one on one frequently. In such a case, the corners have to play conservatively to avoid the big play. The key is to learn when to make an aggresive move to the ball and when to lay back, play it safe and make a tackle. Clemens has really learned this and the QB's stay away from him in general. McGee is younger and therefore they tend to look his direction more. There is no such thing as a shutdown corner in this defensive package. McGee is young, athletic, and has a nose for the ball. For a guy with bad hips, he sure can evade tacklers on kickoff returns. McGee will be fine with another year out there. We can not have pro-bowlers at every position. He is more than adequate as our #2 corner.
  15. Please help out an old fart here. How did "biotch" become part of our vocabulary. Why was this word needed? How did white suburban kids start using this word? What is the point of it?
  16. Is he the GM that signed Nate Wayne to a $13 million free agent contract two years ago and who just released him this week? My only point, is that all GM's have successes and failures. It is so easy to be a Monday Morning GM.
  17. Yes, Pat Williams was on and he spoke about the new book he just wrote. You didn't know Pat Williams wrote a book? Well, the Pat Williams who was the former General Manager of several NBA teams did and that is who was on this morning.
  18. Wow. There you go. I thought he was just trying to be provocative and goad me. But, my God, I believe he may be serious. Should we tell him that people that are handling food in "nice, safe" places like Disney World may be from these these same evil THIRD WORLD countries. I love Bills fans but I occasionally sit near some that I am totally embarassed about. Now, I know some of them show up here.
  19. Please, oh please, oh please, explain what that post was trying to say if you were not lamely trying for sick humor.
  20. Let me try to do this off the top of my head: The Category is Running Backs that I would want ahead of Travis Henry (No particular order) 1. Willis 2. LT 3. Alexander 4. James 5. Martin 6. Portis 7. McAllister 8. Dillon 9. Westbrook 10. Lewis 11. Tiki 12. R. Johnson 13. Davis 14. Taylor That does not count Holmes or Staley.
  21. If you are going to be tasteless, at least be funny.
  22. I found it interesting in the article that the surviving family concludes that the couple knew they were going to die. However, in most of the videos that I have watched from tourists. There is first this "hey look at the big wave" thing and then incredulity as the power of the wave hits. Most of these videos were by people on upper floors of hotels. In retrospect, it is easy to conclude what the waves would do, but my guess is that everyone underestimated it as it approached shore.
  23. Because at the time it was the right thing to do. We had no viable professional QB and were coming off a disastrous year. It renewed franchise viability and gave other free agents hope that the Bills were building something that they wanted to be part of (see Takeo Spikes). He made the Pro-bowl his first year with us. Unfortunatley it went South from there. I remain happy with the job our front office is doing and don't regret the Bledsoe deal.
