Wade Phillips? Will he finish the season? Looks like "the hit".
-
Well it only took me 1,538 posts but I found a suitable avatar. Tom Sestak. He retired after the 1969 season so he never officially played in the NFL. He had many knee injuries that cut his career short. Sestak was known to be big, strong and fast. He is a defensive tackle on the All Time AFL Team, which is recognized in the Pro Football HoF. His names also graces The Stadium Wall at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Sestak is one of the main reasons why the Bills won back to back AFL championships. He was the best player on the best defense the AFL. His teams, coach by Lou Saban, defeated the powerful San Diego Chargers two times. I once met Paul Macguire and he told me that Sestak was "a behometh with speed" and "the best defensive player in the league at that time". Exactly what my father said many years prior. Anyway, a little break from the "Trent sucks" and "what is Chan thinking" stuff.

If you keep Owens you progress the WR's that can actually beat him out. Those are the ones you want starting on your team. Handing the job to Stevie Johnson will not improve the team.

That 4th - 11 scamper out of bounds to end the game

I was there watching it and I could not believe the way he played on the last 3 plays. -
Redskins sign Chad Simpson cut Larry Johnson
Bob in STL replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Chan was too stupid to keep Chad Simpson then Bill Polian was even more stupid. Didn't the Colts release Chad Simpson after two season? Anyone who blames Chan for not keeping Chad Simpson and Joique Bell over CJ Spiller, Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson would need his head examined. Good luck to Simpson and Bell in the future. If they flourish more power to them. -
... and so did our RT, LT, RG, TE and FB.

Sully is a mostly a complainer but sometimes he offers a great point and even some humor. I think Sully's totally misses the mark on this article because he seems to be looking to find fault with Chan Gailey no matter the situation. What confuses me are these statements: 1. He makes a point that he considered the open competition for the QB job to be a fraud. If the competition were truly open, his opinion is that Edwards would have lost it and he may have been cut and off the team already. He stated that we knew this from last years performance when Fitz proved he was the better QB. (BTW - I think Fitz is the better of the two also.) 2. Jerry makes another point that Edwards should have been given four regular season games to prove himself. So why do we need to see Edwards play two more games? What is magical about four games especially given his first point that we already knew Edwards could not do the job? Sounds like Jerry is gonna blast the coach no matter which way he goes.

[please fix subject]Ya...I Said It
Bob in STL replied to PDaDdy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow. Losman still can't get a job in the NFL. One of the few things the Bills have done right in recent years is cutting ties with him when they did. They were wrong to keep Trent for another year, that does not justify keeping Losman. We deserve better. -
Serious question - What if the Bills leave town?
Bob in STL replied to beggar13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they left Buffalo the whole Bills identity, the logo and colors, will probably change too. I would stop following them and just watch football games for fun instead. -
Pretty much everywhere. On Clay Matthews first sack Green helped out inside and let him come in untouched. Matthews was line up as a pass rusher the whole time. After getting 3 sacks the prior week you would think someone would have been looking for him? Maybe a TE or a back trying to chip him? Something from somebody? Matthews came in from the left and the middle as well. He did whatever he wanted to do it seemed. Wood seems to be struggling a bit too. I don't think he is fully back yet.

I sure hope you're right. I cannot say I saw this while watching the game in a sports bar as it is hard to concentrate at times. We had lots of pressure on the QB coming from the edges and the left side looked as bad as the right at times. If Bell develops the rebuild takes a very big step forward.
-
He does that far too often. Trent is just so reluctant to make throws down the field. Chan probably thought he could work it out of him. Under real game pressure Trent's first impulse is to play it safe no matter the down and distance or game situation. True, Fitz does not have the tools (or talent if you wish) to be a difference maker. Like last year he will be a slight improvement over Trent because he is a better leader and has more football sense. Lee Evans is probably happy for this move. As for young QBs, I think Levi Brown is the only QB we drafted since Edwards. Not sure Modrak is the culprit for that situation.

Stop it your hurting my sides. Thanks for the laugh!

Good One!

Ouch. I clinked on the link.

Your 33? You really should be embarassed by your post then. I truly thought you were a kid. Hard to believe an adult, especially a big important one like you, would blast an old man like that. You knock Buffalo ("1000's of amazing careers", "people from Buffalo think PF Chang's is classy") then you say I should not be aloud to post because I am not from there. First of all I am from Buffalo and I go back there quite often and I attend games at RALPH WILSON STADIUM. Named after the guy you blasted for being old. The guy who has kept the team in one place, Buffalo, for 50 years. The only original owner left from the AFL. The one that Chris Berman presented to the NFL Hall of Fame.

"Do your math", now thats funny. You sound like you just got out of school today, ran home and no one was there to watch you. You then decided to write your "Old people are useless" post on Mommy's computer. Must have been the topic of discussion today at lunch when you traded your half of your PB&J for some Frito's.

Give us Tom Modrak's Head to Keep Us Interested
Bob in STL replied to Gabe Northern's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So I guess you assume he reads TSW and cares what we say? -
Against Miami Spiller missed some blocking assignments and I heard Chan talk about his needing patience reading blocks. Common issues for rookie running backs. I think we will see more of Spiller as the season progresses. I sure hope so. Brohm? I am not sure they think Brohm is better than Fitz at this point. Fitz has been getting more snaps in practice as the #2. The #3 does not get many reps at all except as the Scout team QB. Fitz's experience must also be a factor.

You do realize you are giving credibility to Randy Cross?

Oh, I think the Pats* will be prepared.

Give us Tom Modrak's Head to Keep Us Interested
Bob in STL replied to Gabe Northern's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. Modrak does not need to be close to the team, he needs to be close to the colleges. 2. Legend has it that Whitner was Levy's pick and that Maybin was Jauron's pick. Nix was there and he made comments about picking a player with very little experience, kind of washed he hands of Maybin. 3. We don't actually know if Modrak picks any of the players. On most teams the Scout provides information and the GM picks the players. 4. What set us back was not bringing in a real GM after Tom Donahoe was fired. Blame Ralph for that. Ralph will not hire someone that he does not know. Ralph hired Levy and Brandon to fill the GM position and then he hired Nix. They collectively deserve more blame than Modrak in my opinion. -
3-4 scheme without correct personnel
Bob in STL replied to SouthernMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree that we do not yet have the personnel for the 3-4 and most teams that run it effectively have a stud NT and some very good LBs. You saw Green Bay throw long to the TE on 3rd and 2 I assume? We had Kelsey out there, thinking it would be a running down. They took advantage of it. Expect to see a lot more of that. Andra Davis is another that is very weak at pass coverage and he is actually an experienced 3-4 backer. None of the front 3 are really good 3-4 lineman and we do not a pass rusher LB. Hence, no pressure on the QB. It will take a few more drafts to acquire the talent to play a good 3-4. I guess they want to take their lumps now? -
Do you still want to trade Marshawn?
Bob in STL replied to Maddog69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looks a bit slow to me but we shall see. He is fine against other teams 3rd stringers though, we know that.
