I think that speaks to the fact he’s a smart veteran in particular in pass protection. Cook needs to work on that area of his game and likely will improve with experience. I personally think the short yardage issue is more OL push on obvious short yardage vs our RB’s. We had the big short yardage guy in Moss. Even Josh on sneaks seems to have to fight and claw for a yard. Motor back at a good value is fine. Or draft the big Texas RB in the late rounds. Unless OL improves not sure it will matter.

That is certainly possible. McD has said he wants a nastier D. That sounds good but it will be interesting in seeing what they do at LB. Is it FA ? Not a lot of talent fits remaining if any. Or via draft Sanders, Campbell, Henley fit that skill set.

When they signed Milano I think they made the call on who they thought was both more impactful and affordable. Agree they could have extended earlier and likely for less than the $18m he got. But that’s assuming he was open to it. And at that juncture I don’t think he was worth it. Having over $30m at the position in the Bills D given the current NFL is not what BB wanted. If we had to choose I’m fine with Milano.

I think Campbell was the exact guy BB would target. Must have felt that Gabe brings fills that role, albeit with less speed. Seemed a better fit than Harty but I’ll trust BB knows more than I do.

Didn’t we trade a guy who had that profile ? How much falls in the OL. I’m good with get short yardage red zone rb in draft or FA but OL plays a part. And we so far have added a good pass blocking OG.

I am thinking that OT is #1 or #2 priority with LB. If no additional starters at those positions come from FA. I’ve been a huge SB fan but he actually fell off a bit in year 2. How much does AK take on with this OL? We need more production and development from that position group. I’ll take Jones or Harrison at # 1 if they are on the board. I’m past, let’s bring in competition for Spencer.

Seems Waller is bit of a diva. If he flipped on JM for the leak I can see said coach sending him on his way!! Neither comes out looking great and Waller now send across the country from his new secret bride. JM is kind of a jerk but this is on both.

It’s my understanding from the NFL that some agents and these big deals will go at 1%. He certainly could have and still could say I’m giving 1% and that’s it. I’m sure an agent would take it. But his arrogance and hubris of showing how much he’s been offered ,as why he doesn’t need an agent makes no sense. It’s unfortunate he’s taken this position. But to me it signals a lack of big picture understanding in his role as a team leader. Feeling fortunate the Bills have JA and not just for his on field ability.

Yeah.. the model now is build your roster like the Pats. You know those awesome TE FA signings and quality drafting the past several years. CK was a very solid back up. He could win a game or two if needed.He’s had a decent career. MB is good guy and did win us a game. But BB wants someone with more of JA’s running skill set. Brissett or MM make sense but probably too much $$$. Draft might be it.

You are correct on Cousins are 3 year 💯.. but yes 3 has been the max until the Watson deal.

On this thread ? I’ve seen he’s been injured brought up. I may have missed where people said he should play hurt on here. If so my miss, I certainly don’t agree that should be held against him. But he has been injured. And I think you have to admit that his contentious approach hasn’t been helpful. The other teams aren’t offering deals because they would totally screwed if the Ravens match. These are all issues that he created.

Nobody said that. I don’t think he should play if he’s hurt. See TT and the Dolphins. The 💯 guarantee is what he’s hung up on. The team doesn’t want to be on the hook for a guy not contributing. It’s a risk at 60% but at 100 with a guy who has been injured shouldn’t be that hard to fathom.

What is the record of other top NFL teams when the qb doesn’t play? With the exception of SF not that great. So you’re seriously basing your view of the Ravens on W-L record when their oft injured QB doesn’t play. The Ravens are a minimum top 10 franchise in the NFL by all measures.

Right and he’s the starting QB for the Ravens for $32m. Well under his value because he didn’t take offers well over that. And he’s asking for fully guaranteed $.. so he will be the starting QB for the Ravens to build on that record. Or he sits and loses more $$$.

Plenty of teams are giving out QB guarantees… but nothing close to 100%

I think he will get the tag of $32ish unless he sits out? So then for 2 straight years LJ will have given away let’s say $42m a year less what he will have earned for the past two years.

Actually everyone connected to the NFL has voiced that the Watson guaranteed contract is beyond foolish. Not even considering what a great guy Watson is. It’s a dreadful contract according to literally any person who follows the NFL from a business perspective.

What exactly was he offered ? You know this how? He claims he was offered $133m for 3 guaranteed. Others suggest that deal was closer to $200m apparently with more years. What specific offer was he given that you are sure was “ below” his market?

I haven’t seen anyone here who suggests that. I think the Jones contract was high for sure. The other two seem about right in this market. What we do know is this. LJ wants all his $250 guaranteed. The only one losing minds are people who think that makes sense to the Ravens or any team not from Cleveland.
