Right and if all those things happened BB would be the best GM in NFL history. Hindsight is a great predictor. Several teams chose not to select JJ at WR after the Vikes Bills trade. Yes Ford wasn’t good but had he been then it’s a different story. BB has missed some for sure. But also hit on enough to be a top 10 GM.

Will we be in Super Bowl contention this year?
QLBillsFan replied to bills6969's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m not particularly fired up at all. I in no way said the Bills don’t need another receiver. My point is they will either draft one fairly early or trade for one. In terms of catches assuming 390 this year vs 385 last year. Kincaid/Shakir 80, Samuel 60, rookie/fa 50, cook/knox 40, Hollins 20, TJ/Morris 10. That to me is not the 3rd worst WR room, but if you think so it’s fine. Diggs is gone and many of his targets were forced and put Josh in a difficult position. That is exactly how I see it you may differ. A “gadget guy”who catches 60 passes is fine with me. I’m glad you have in-depth knowledge of his capabilities. Obviously they are going to get a guy for the outside. Bolding is yelling so in fact you are fired up not me. Have a great day and let’s see what the Bills look like in the summer. -

Bottom 3 WR room in the NFL ? Based on you saying it ??? -

A gadget guy ? Seriously? Make a sound argument. Shakir and Kincaid will both catch 70-80. Samuel “ gadget guy” will get 60. And the WR via draft or trade will catch 50-60. JA is the QB who can throw the ball to any of 6-7 viable options with no diva bs. Addition by subtraction. Shakir is going to be outstanding this year. -
Lance Zierlein: Bills should draft 2 WR in the first 3 rounds
QLBillsFan replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m on the same page and we are in the minority for sure. Add in Cook and Knox and I’m not sure the 2nd WR gets enough targets. With real needs at edge, safety, cb, rb, ol depth I’m not sure that’s the best way to go. Unless the board just falls the Bills way and they can get Legette/Mitchell/ Pearsall for example. I think too many other needs and only so many targets. Does the 2nd WR get more snaps than Samuel or Shakir? I just don’t see it. -
Randy Mueller - maybe only ~150 draftable players this year

Yes my bad correct 10 picks.. I think they probably pick 9 who all have a shot at making the roster. -

And every year players are drafted late that contribute to teams. In addition to FA that do the same. Josh and Lamar ended up home runs and the other 3 ..not so much (Baker has been decent) The Rams had it right on Nacua and nobody else did. So I would give that about zero thought. Having said that not sure 11 players make the Bills. Trade the super late picks and move up. Or keep them all and maybe 248 makes it 😂 who really knows!! -
Could be. But the Bills invested a first on him for some reason. They hope to recoup the upside of that decision. Makes no sense to dump him for nothing. New DB coach so we shall see. He’s made some plays in limited time he’s been on the field. He was also bad in the Jax game. They have him in the mix this year and I expect to see him on the field a fair amount. If he breaks out great. If not he’s depth. He literally has no value to anyone but the Bills.
-
I would have said the same until the Diggs trade. As above the $10M in June gives you some creativity before then. I would question the return we need to give. Pitt being ahead of us at 20 vs 28, and do the Bills want immediately to jump back into a massive contract at WR. Given the talent in this draft that’s the question. The value needed to give up is the issue. WR like every other position in the draft is 50/50. Aiyuk is a sure thing. Tough decisions for BB. But must assume he had a plan in advance of jettisoning Diggs.

Got ya my miss..

Got ya just thinking with C/G change then RT might be disruptive. I’m tracking you on the cost control side of it and I see that angle.
-
Yes he plays LB.. not Edge/OLB. Milano has value but not enough given age and his contract. Why would the Bills trade him for a 4th or 5th? Then we have an additional spot where depth is an issue. He is a game changer on this D and imho not enough return back for his Bills value.
-
I know he’s on the last year of his contract, but why? He was outstanding last year. And who on the this roster would replace him? I expect the Bills to resign him to along term deal unless I’m missing something ?
-
That’s the play. He’s in his rookie contract and was talented enough to be a first round pick. New DB coach so it’s this year or bust. Only would make sense in a player trade for a player who also was drafted high and has struggled. Like WR Marshall from Carolina. But I’m for keeping him as trade value is so low.

Bills Coverage Stuff that is Making me Grit my Teeth
QLBillsFan replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
MM and people who don’t really follow the Bills have very generic simple opinions on Diggs getting shipped out. While the cap hit is crazy, it just tells you the production isn’t worth the drama. Bills fans know this. It’s addition by subtraction. Josh will get 2 additional rookie targets and the freedom to throw to who ever is open. No more forces or bubble screens to get Diggs going! Diggs had a great run here and the team certainly got better. But it was time, and I’m all for it! -
Yes multiple AFC championships and close but no cigar in playoffs. Keep perspective and he wasn’t responsible for 13 seconds. You can scrutinize other GM’s in the top 10 and they all don’t hit 💯. He’s made some mistakes for sure, but on balance I’ll take it. Miller got injured so 🤷🏻♂️.. the rest of those deals are vet guys some of whom contributed, some who were disappointing. That’s a fair assessment. The Miller deal was to jump start it and he got hurt. Elam so far a big miss, yet getting Douglas brilliant.

In hindsight, should we have traded for Diontae Johnson?
QLBillsFan replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
No thanks! I think BB makes zero trades up. Maybe trades back to 35-40. Then takes 2 WR.. some combo of Legette, Franklin, McConkey, or Pearsall. If we trade I think it’s Aiyuk for #28. But then back to a $25-30 m contract. So instead, BB rolls the dice like the Packers and drafts 2 high 🤷🏻♂️ -
I bet he won’t want the ball much 😂
-
I get ya .. but had he stayed with the Bills and wanted to be here he’s making the$$$.. He’s betting that he will make up that $$$ after this year with another similar or higher deal. I just don’t see it based on his production as no longer being a superstar #1. But I could be wrong. He’s going to get more than $ 37m after his year in Houston? Ok could be.. I don’t see it.
-
No at 31-32 he will get a 1 maybe 2 year deal. Those deals go to 25-28 year old guys on the upswing.. with limited drama. He walked away from a two year deal with the Bills to a one year deal with the Texans. So he’s betting he will make at least that much in yr 2 somewhere. Could be, but I don’t think so.
-
Oh I get he wants to play with his brother. Just seems not a great financial plan. I wish Diggs well and he was very good with the Bills. But I’m glad he’s gone.
