  1. Is that a thing? If Chicago reworks his deal, it affects our cap hit?
  2. I too am surprised, but wasn't aware of his cap hit. I don't think this closes the door on us moving on from Morse. Like RB's, many don't see C as a 1st round value. I could see us go WR and C in our first 3 rounds, then spend the rest of our attention on defense.
  3. How bad do you have to be that a team would rather eat 85 mil in dead space over two years than let you play quarterback? Add to that, they don't even have a replacement yet and still would rather take their chances
  4. Sounds like all you need is a drink
  5. Personally, I think we stay put or trade back. We need more cheap rookie contracts to fill this team out with our cap situation.
  6. I feel like he'll get more than 21 mil from someone else, but could be wrong. I'd expect 25-30 mil.
  7. Please no. I know we needed lineman, but we have so much money in Von and Oliver, that I don't want to see another 1st round pick on a lineman yet. Give Josh another weapon on offense, then you can go defensive for the rest of the draft. I would like to see them draft a center than can replace Morse this year or next, but that's about it. Get all the D-Lineman, Safeties, and DB's McD can handle in rounds 2-7
  8. Can't they just franchise tag him? Or did they already say they weren't going to do that?
  9. With the recent release of DB Jackson, the Pats have 101 million in cap space. That's an absolutely crazy number! If you were the GM, besides disbanding the team and keeping the money for yourself, what would you do? The Pats have 54 players under contract for 2024, so they don't exactly have a crazy number of holes to fill. For me, I would do the following: - Since I don't have a QB, I would possibly look into other teams with cap concerns and maybe pull a Brock Osweiler trade to take on some salary cap, and acquire picks. The Pats already have the #3 overall pick and are in prime position to draft a QB, but more picks for a new Coach and philosophy is always a good thing. - Spend money in the trenches. No matter where the Pats go at QB, build up that offensive line and defensive line. Spend money on FA's with front loaded contracts that pay the majority in the first 3 years. That way, when it's time to pay your skill players in that time, you will have money again to pay them. - Get that short term player that can sell tickets. I think I would go after a Barkley or Henry, even with Stevenson on the team. I want someone that can put butts in seats while the team finds it's new identity. - Check the temperature on Kirk Cousins. If you want the capacity to win now, Kirk is more than good enough to support a team into the playoffs. I don't see him leaving Minnesota, but it can't hurt to ask I know those are all pretty basic ideas, but that's what I got.
  10. I feel like the opposite. I think we will hear about a few moves prior, but then just see a statement release saying we are under cap. Then, a few weeks later, the details will leak regarding what moves we made. I think the only moves we will really hear about prior will involve releases of players.
  11. I'm not ready for this. I get that almost our entire defensive line are free agents, but I still have PTSD from all the drafting of defensive lineman.
  12. Damn, no one told me I died.
  13. I hate losing Douglas, but 10 mil is a lot of savings when you have the DB's we do. There's going to be some tough losses this offseason, and this appears to be one of them. That's 25% of our cap fix with one player.
  14. To pay for THE RIGHT to buy tickets....🤦‍♂️
  15. I could see Knox being a team guy and renegotiating, even taking less, to stay with Josh and the team.
  16. I’m a huge Knox fan and we could all the see potential in him. At the time of the extension, there was no way to see Kincaid falling into our laps. With that being said, I believed at the time we overpaid as I don’t think any other team would have given him even close to that much money. Granted, if we actually start using him again alongside Kincaid for the weapons they can be, money well spent. Sadly, we don’t seem to have that playcalling capacity
  17. Someone woke up and chose violence today
  18. I have to think this is a stall tactic until they can sign him and Chase to a long term deal. However, paying Joe 50+ and Higgens/Chase 30+ per is insane to me. Yes, I'm assuming those will be the numbers on the receivers, but I can't imagine I'll be too far off. Bengals have 74 mil in cap space, which is also insane to me. Burrow won't really hit the books for another two years, but still. 110 mil for 3 guys.
  19. Chiefs have 28 mil in cap space. They can easily bring back Jones and add pieces. Hooray
  20. McD respectfully disagrees. I'm a firm believer that McD joined the NFL committee just to petition fielding teams made up solely of DB's
  21. Yes, I was thinking about that deal too. In that case, if I'm remembering correctly, it didn't save the dead cap hit, just the salary portion. I could be wrong though
  22. I think the NFL should allow teams to trade dead cap space away. If a team has the cap space and wants draft picks, let them make that decision. I'm going to get flamed, but I would trade a 2nd round pick, Knox, and Von to someone if that took their contracts off our books completely without a hit
  23. Chiefs won that trade in hindsight. Same as the Pats won the draft they took Brady in hindsight. It drives me nuts when people want to play the "what if" game, when in the moment, no one had strong opinions on it. I'm not coming at you Doc, you were just the first post I looked at because you're so damn sexy
  24. Every team in the league had the chance to hire Reid and draft Mahomes and didn't. How is it on the Bills specifically? I couldn't remember his name either, but I remember what you're talking about. That might be the only person who can say "I told you so." I was very against Mahomes, or anyone else who played in that spread offense style. Any QB prior who came from that system failed horribly in the NFL. Similar to Stroud, I I wouldn't have taken an Ohio State QB due to their history of bombing at the NFL level.
  25. For what it's worth, the Chiefs still would have gotten him at 27 😜. (Yes, I know it's a mock) https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2017/story/_/id/19241424/2017-nfl-nation-mock-draft-cleveland-browns-get-myles-garrett-texas-aggies-mitchell-trubisky-north-carolina-tar-heels
