  1. These past two days since the loss have been terrible as a Bills fan. I've been just beside myself already cashing this season in. But today is the first day where I don't have the emotion in me, and after watching the games last night, I think i'm rational enough to talk about it. The biggest reason's this last game and this season are crap is.... 1 - We have a team good enough for the playoffs, but we won't make it. Elite QB's win you superbowls, but they don't have to get you to the playoffs. Heck, Dilfer even won one. For the past 3 years, we've had opportunities to find QB's and Chan, while I respect the loyalty, just puts everything into "his guy". I'm not going to look back and pick guys who panned out and say "we should have picked him", but we didn't go after anyone. This is a team that is short in a few areas, but I honestly believe is good enough to make the playoffs with the people on the team. Even McKelvin, who played the worst game I've ever seen of him, is not as bad as he was on Sunday. 2 - Our team is poorly coached. Again, if Tomlin was our coach, I think we are in that game or maybe win it. The Defense was vanilla (which btw scares me that what we saw in preseason is actually our D), and not running the ball and playing the field position game was surprising. I get that Chan is an "offensive mastermind", and Jerry Jones said he wished he never fired him, welll he never did try to hire him back and once our qb shows he can't handle it, have the sense to change the plan where it's not all on him. There is no reason that team should have looked the way they did this past week. It's been 3 years. This is his team in the way he wanted it. 3 - I'm about to have a kid and am honestly wondering if it's fair to have him/her be a Bills fan. I know I can't change me, but to give a kid a relationship with a team that only breaks your heart seems like child abuse 4 - This is the first game of the season and half of the teams lost. They did and half of them will lose again next week. The difference? Of the teams that lost, many of them made it close against good team. The Packers and the Saints could have easily won their games. We were supposed to be a playoff team this year and even with our schedule, I just don't see it. And if we do take advantage of the schedule, what will that playoff game even look like? Look what the Jets did to us. Imagine playing the Pats, Steelers, Ravens, Broncos, or the Texans?!? It's one game, I get it. Will Fitz play that bad again, hopefully not. Will the D work together better over time, yes. And if this was a rebuilding year, or the year of a new coach, it would be different. But this is the time we were told to wait for. This was the year where we got to see the Nix/Gailey plan take affect. And I think that most of us were more hyped for this opener than any year in the recent past. So to see this, is heart wrenching. Lastly, just for context, my favorite season as a Bills fan is still the year we went 3-13. Just a bunch of young players, learning together and making the occasional play. Expectations were non-existent and each win felt was special. That might sound strange, but that's all I want. To feel like the team is trying their best with what they have and working towards something. But maybe that's just me
  2. Who cares if we didn't see tape and who cares if the jets are better. We were supposed to be playoff contenders this year. We got blown out. We are not a good team
  3. We do realize that, even if we beat KC and Cleveland, that really doesn't say a whole lot. The how point of this game was to see how this team, which many were hoping to be playoff bound, would do against a division rival on the road, who has beaten us for the past 3 years and we got crushed. Somehow, beating the Chiefs and Browns is going to turn that around. Even if we blow them both out, which I doubt, we still have to play the Pats afterwards. Now, if we take it to the Pats, then maybe this game was a fluke. I'm sorry, but the only thing we will learn over these next two teams is if we will be in the Barklay sweepstakes, cause if we lose either of them, we are done.
  4. I'm sorry, but how did they give them these points? Many QB's threw 3 or 4 ints yesterday and their team still won. Why? Because their defense shut down the opposing team or held them to a field goal. If you want to say we gave them something, then maybe say that Fitz gave them a pick 6. Other than that, we could have stopped every other score. The Punt Return could have been stopped. The passing TD's could have been stopped. I didn't realize that once you threw an INT, you automatically gave the other team a free TD and had to lose the game.
  5. Just curious to see what people think in year 3, where it's typically put up or shut up time
  6. It was 40-7 and the jets slowed it down. We got own out. The only thing changing the outcome would have been if a different team was out there
  7. Yes, one loss that showed no hope for a win and a reminder of the team we are. And no, I can't predict the future. But I can make strong guesses based upon what I've seen. I've seen this before and seen how it ends. What have you seen to make you think this season is going to be any different
  8. I'm sorry, I should have added "in addition to why we suck" to the title
  9. I'm sorry, but this is total crap. For good teams, this is only 1 game. For teams that usually are expected to win, this is a fluke. For the Bills, this is who we are. The Jets have done this to us for the past few years now. We were 6-10 last year. Are you kidding me with this "only 1 game?" I see the people saying it, including Chan, and I'm tired of hearing it. If this isn't an example of what are team is, within the GM, Coach, QB, and other players, I don't know what more you need to see. We will win some games against teams equally horrible, get blown out by the playoff teams, and maybe pull out one upset win. With our schedule that's 8-8. Not good enough in year three. THAT, is all that this is
  10. Two positions got exposed today and I'm very afraid of what it could mean for us down the stretch. Gailey has put all his eggs in the Fitz basket. If it doesn't work, what do we have? Jackson? The guy was so bad the team signed Flynn, then lost out to him and a rookie. Without Fitz panning out, we have NOTHING this season at QB. I'm also not going to pretend that David Nelson was a premier #2 receiver, but again, when you choose to run with 4 WR's, then you are putting a lot of stock into these guys. It looks like Nelson could be done for the year. Who's next, the 3rd round pick who was a healthy scratch for the season opener? If Stevie goes down for any reason, who he himself has even said he's not 100%, what do we have. It's been 3 years and both Nix and Gailey have said that this is their team. These are the guys they want. Was it 1 game? Yes. However, is it a real possibility that Fitz has peaked or Stevie is hampered all season, ABSOLUTELY YES. With that, how is Gailey and Nix not accountable?
  11. Doesn't the team website usually have these posted by now. They are usually in the media link but I can't find them. I really want to see Chan's and Fitz's comments
  12. Give me anything to look forward to for this season? Even being 2-1 isn't exciting because we know the Pats are going to crush us? D was terrible with no coverage and pressure Fitz is as bad as I've ever seen And who knows what's up with Freddy. Go ahead, I would love to hear this...
  13. What's sad is, after this offseason with all the signings, and years of this team being crap, I can't even attack anyone for giving up this early. I'll never forget the quote that Mark Anderson saying that after we beat the Pats last year, they still saw us as the same old Bills. Yes, yes we are. We are a horribly ran organization and the fans don't deserve this
  14. Well, to answer my question, it's HUGE. Cause the season is over
  15. Someone brought up a good point about the following games being affected by Jets game. And when I ask, is this an important opener, I did mean for the fans, the players, and overall psyche. For the fans, if the Bills lose this first game, then beat the next two crap teams, are we really going to be pumped around being 2-1 going into the Pats game? Do the fans matter, to a degree. But I really think that impact can be seen on the field.
  16. I'm not going to say that week 1 is a must win game for us. However, the fact is that we are playing the Jets on the road, and our record is 2-6 in the last 8 games against them. . No matter how easy our schedule ends, we have to be able to win in our division and win on the road. This game will say a lot about our team to me this season. Being 0-1 hasn't bothered me in the past. But, being 0-1 in the division and losing a game that we weren't really in after the 3rd quarter....that will be a different story. However, on the flip side, even if we blew them out, you won't see me predicting the playoffs. This is just a large indicator game to me. I'd rather win this game and lose the following week on a fluke than anything else. Dunno, maybe it's pre-season jitters or the normal hesitation that any Bills fan feels, but I'm already nervous for week 1
  17. In most cases of optimism around here, I would agree with the OP. In fact, I agree with the majority of what was said. But there are three reasons why I really am CAUTIOUSLY optimistic. D-Line - On paper or not, we know that we now have one of the best D-Lines in the league. That's just a fact. The ramifications of that is huge as we've seen what the Giants can do with their line. This line is going to make everyone else seem a notch better than they are. Running Game - We only have FJax last season. Now, we have both him and Spiller. Gailey proved he can make any line look good with his offensive style, and we have one of the best tandems in the league. If we actually set the game up with the run, Fitz won't have to sling it as much. Schedule - Yes, our road streches are crap, but outside of that, I don't think a fan could have written a better schedule for a team to win. Injuries aside, I am hoping to see our LB and CB's take the next step. If they don't, we won't be worse than last year. If they DO make the step up, then we are going to see a completely different team. I am concerned about the lack of 2nd WR. But, if any of these guys can step up at all next to Stevie or TJ can really be on the field and just run deep every play, I'll be curious to see. But with our backs, I want to see a 65% mix run. Just thoughts...
  18. I'll be honest, I don't get the vibe of being unprepared. I took it as more of, who cares. I don't think they could be less interested.
  19. WHY DID I CLICK ON THAT LINK!!! Well played sir ;-)
  20. There is a guy who runs an article for somewhere in Texas that usually comes in the most accurate. I forget his name every year. Anyone?
  21. Yeah, this schedule just smells like all the previous Bills seasons. We will get smacked around in the first half, no one will want to buy second half tickets. They will then be eliminated from the playoffs with about 5 weeks left, then win enough games to kill or draft status. Can't Wait!!!
  22. I think that the game will be weak and the NFL will use it as a reason to not give us more prime time games. No one cares about either team outside of our markets and this won't change anything. At least give us a game against a team with a national fanbase
  23. What's pathetic is, I was at the home opener in 2010 and completely forgot. That loss against the Dolphins was the most painful, boring game I've ever been to
  24. For what is the 3rd weakest schedule, they made sure we played the harder teams on the road. And 2 West Coast games back to back? And it's been over 3 years now since we've had a home opener. Yeah, this schedule sucks. And no, I don't think even the Bills players want that many home games in December. And if you have season tickets and the Bills fall apart in the second half, as they have for the past decade, good luck selling your tickets. Just a bad schedule for the players and the fans
  25. Anyone else getting annoyed with the fact that we still aren't opening at home? Isn't this the 4th straight year? There is no reason for every team to not play at home at least every other year
