9/11/23 GAMEDAY Week 1 Bills @ Jets MNF Pregame Thread

I'm saying I don't think the hype or lack of hype will have any impact on who wins the game. The media hype angle is vastly overrated here. -
9/11/23 GAMEDAY Week 1 Bills @ Jets MNF Pregame Thread

True but you are kind of avoiding a major issue. First round picks for the most part are supposed to be impact players and starters. Elam has been anything but that. It looks to be a pretty big miss by Beane thus far. Benford kind of bauls out the whole situation because he looks to be a steal. Bills players aren't likely focused on media picks. There is pressure on both teams. -
Buy: Josh Allen. The Bills need the best version of Allen to get to the SB/win it. Anything less likely doesn't get it done. Sell: Every MLB on the roster. None of them are starter material. It's a glaring weakness of the team. Hold: Elam. Guy shows glimpse of how good he can be. I think the issue is two fold . He thinks too much and might lack some football IQ. More specifically, he is not a great fit under the Bills scheme. He's not playing freely or natural. Hold: Rousseau. Shows a lot of promises but consistently isn't there yet which is understandable.

Agree. He wouldn't have fit into the Bills high character culture McD has built. Personally, I think the Ridley suspension was too harsh but I get the NFL has to protect its integrity.
-
Not bad for what looks like WR1. Can you imagine him on the Bills with Diggs and then Davis could excell as the WR3. Wow.
-
Over hyped by who? The Jets are getting all the hype. It was a shootout brother. Think about the KC Philly SB or the Bills vs KC 13 sec game. Both defenses will have better days. I disagree with your postm

Jags got him for 4th and 5th round picks. Looks like a steal right now.
-
You don't account for the Miami's offense having to have a little say in it? Come on let's be honest here.
-
Not sure how you aren't impressed with Miami s performance. Seems pretty off to me. Surprised me that he had that good of a game after being out for so long. He looked excellent. I thought it would take him a little time to adjust. Nope...
-
This won't be popular here. Be prepared for backlash. Agree 100 percent. I really like this forum but so many here are not objective. Tua threw for 466 and three TDs and many here can't even acknowledge he was excellent. Kind of a sad statement about being realistic.
-
It doesn't work like that.
-
I'm not focusing on Miami right now. I'm hoping for a solid Bills win vs the Jets.
-
Have faith in McD. He's going to make this defense look like the 85 Bears. Bernard will be the new Urlacher.

What will your over reaction to Monday's Jets - Bills game be?
newcam2012 replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think a lot will depend on how each team plays. If it's a hard fought, solid, fundamentally sound, etc...then I don't think there will be huge overreactions. If there are serious flaws, weakness exposed, poor play by certain players, and poor coaching that might be a different story. In the end, a week one team is likely to look much different than a week 17 team. Nevertheless, every game is important and every win gets a team closer to their goals. Man, do I hope the Bills win tomorrow. -
Generally, I agree but those sacks at the end of the game really weren't on him. He was surrounded by Dolphins immediately. He had nowhere to go and was pretty much helpless. That's where a mobile QB who can rollout and bye time helps. I don't think that's his game. It's certainly a theme and likely to rear it's ugly head when we want them to beat KC. I did bring up the Chargers defensive strategy on another thread. I questioned why they didn't try to jam and bump the Miami WR. They were very effective last year. Whatever strategy or lack of was horrible.
-
The other receiving options played well too. I'm not sure if schematically they really did anything vastly different from last year. I do know there were some wide open receivers for big plays. Great run after the catch too. Their offense was impressive and LA had no real answers to slow them down. The fins oline protected Tua pretty well too. Miami will certainly challenge Buffalo for the division. They put Bills fans on alert.
-
Come on now. Tua played very well. He won on the road in a shootout. How can someone sling mud on a 466 yard performance? Unbelievable. Your post is a terrible stretch to try to make Tua look bad. He wasn't flawless but he was damn good and very poised throughout the game. I don't think he's elite but today he looked the part. What's undeniable is him and Hill are phenomenal. Their offense looked fantastic. I'm thinking how are the Bills going to stop them? That's a question for later. For now, Tua deserves his props. P S it might be a good idea to watch the game before commenting on it.

It's been reiterated numerous times Monday night is just one game. You don't get anointed a better AFC contender in week 1 of a NFL season. Come on now...They (Bills) are one of the better AFC contenders regardless of tomorrow's outcome. Flawed thinking here. You predicting a Bills win every game of the season? Ridiculous post!
-
I agree. The coaching against Lamar was excellent. I was very impressed.
-
40 million dollar Jones just pulled off a big heist.
-
Does that matter now?
-
Can you elaborate on why the Bills haven't gotten it done? I'd say because they aren't strong in the trenches and coaching.
-
It just might with Hill and Waddle. It worked against Buffalo on a critical play. It sealed the game for Miami. It's not pretty but it sure is effective.
-
You think Miami fans are afraid of Buffalo with a healthy Tua?
-
Dallas is a playoff team. They can be dangerous.
