Are people really that unhappy with our 4-2 Bills?
newcam2012 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
How is it working out with Spencer Brown? You satisfied with Davis as a WR2? They resigned Poyer who looks to be a shell of himself. Rapp can't even see the field. Elam just blows. Kincaid is a 5 yard catch TE. Cook is never utilized in the screen game. Let's paint a complete picture here please. They Bills have made plenty of bad moves and non moves. The hysteria is only a figment on your imagination. It's called construction criticism which many just don't like to hear. Obviously, you are one of them. All is not glamorous at one Bills drive nor is the sky falling. -

Nice response. I'd like to think most reasonable fans can climb the game to game grind with the thought of the end goal still in mind. If you can't balance the two surely the fun of the game can go by the waste side. Especially , if your constantly focused on the end goal. It's pretty foolish to do that because you can't win it all after 5 or 6 games into a football season. -
On a side note here. I just finished listening to Joe Marino. He was really buying the idea of the Bills acquiring Hunter Renfrow. The guy was absolutely a Beasley type of receiver before McDaniels refused to play him. The guy can really run routes and create separation. What do you guys think? Joe is a really smart guy.

Very true but that's a bit disingenuous at the same time Gunner. I'll elaborate as to why. You are absolutely spot on about the past and the fans perspective. It absolutely happens when you are not a good team, mediocre team, or a fringe playoff team. There is really no need to think further. The goal of winning playoff games and a SB are not realistic. Pretty easy to comprehend. However, when a team lands a franchise QB fans know that's the crucial element to winning. The Bills landed that QB six years ago. He has developed into one of the best QBs for 3 years now. The organization has had plenty of time to improve their team. Improve it enough to represent the AFC, make super bowl appearances, and win it all. The goalposts have moved as they should. It's not a bad thing. The fans still know the importance of the grind from game to game. I don't think that's under estimated. At the same time, the fans think bigger and expect bigger. Both can happen at the same time. IMHO, both do happen at the same time. The climb and fun is still present. Destination has entered into the picture because the Bills are knocking on the door of greatness not mediocrity. I wouldn't want it any other way. -

Week 7 Bills @ Patriots - on to Foxborough!

I think Greg Cosell stated the Bills offense is based on execution. I happen to agree with him. Of course, that could be said of every offense to an extent. With that said, this offense is very good but somewhat different. I'm not used to 15 play 10 minute drives. Seems like that's difficult to maintain and not a lot of error for mistakes. This offense needs to improve despite the good statistics. The run game and play calling has to improve. I'm not sure how good the oline is after the last two poor performances. Allen's legs have to become a weapon again. Kincaid has to be utilized in deeper seam routes. The Bills should incorporate the screen game. The Bills have to be less predictable and less reliant on Diggs. More motion more misdirection plays. Etc... This offense is plenty good to beat inferior teams in the regular season. Will it be good enough come playoff time? I'm afraid it's current state is not. Plenty of time to get it right. Do we think Dorsey and McD will get it right? -

I agree about Allen's window. The QB in the modern era can play a lot longer. What I don't like is that the Bills' organization is wasting years of opportunities. Feels like they are cashing in. -

That's fair. Don't complain if the team falls short of their goal year after year with a franchise QB. That's exactly what had had happened for at least 3 years. At some point, change might be a good thing. Like I've reiterated many times before it's not terrible difficult to make the playoffs with Allen as your QB. -

Agree 100%. However, there are many fans that are really satisfied with good to great regular seasons and playoff births. Anything else is just a bonus. Lots of these fans will say it's better than it used to be. It's just entertaining. Be happy with the success. It's hard to win it all. 31 teams will be disappointed. So it's really about your perspective and how you see things. You and I see things similarly. -

Is this type of thinking that creates acceptance to medicity. It was more about the Bills poor play than those being good teams. The Bills are better than both of those teams. -

Show me a Bills fan that isn't happy with the win? I can show you the vast majority of Bills fans that aren't happy with the way they won. There's a big distinction between the two and you seem to muddie up them. -

There's a lot to be satisfied and unsatisfied thus far. The injuries are the most daunting. Losing your three best players on defense is more than not worthy. The two losses and the Giants win are concerning. The Bills have played three good games and three very poor games. They hardly look like super bowl worthy six games in. Fortunately, it's a long season and hopefully this team throws at the end of the season. The Dolphins are in first place not the Bills. That's not what I expected. We are chasing instead of being chased. Let's not forget the Bills schedule only gets tougher. The offense is still a work in progress. Dorsey certainly is a concern. The oline has played two poor games in a row. Kincaid seems to be nothing more than a dump off TE. Besides Diggs, the Bills offense is solely reliant on Allen. I'm not getting caught up in all the stats. Truthfully, they never tell a complete picture. It can definitely be used as a measuring stick. As a fan, I see this team as very good. A playoff team. I don't see a AFC championship team or a SB team. Sure it's possible and I always hope for the best. A lot of football to play. The Bills needs to play better and improve. Ditto for the coaching staff too. Let's see how things play out. However, there's plenty of positives and negatives to address. To criticize those who have valid construction criticisms is really suspect. Almost like it's not ok to do. -

When "Uncle Rico" is your QB, you're going to pass the ball 40 to 50 times a game? -

But how much do the Bills run under center? That has to be put into the equation. -

Nice post. I really think it's scheme related. I mean look at the success of Moss in Indy. Most fans couldn't wait for Moss to go. You usually don't see such an uptick like that. -

You are all over the place. Your premise was teams can't double Diggs because of the Bills run game. That's simply not true. -

newcam2012 replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills running game is in inconsistent. Dorsey often abandons the run too. Your premise isn't correct either. Teams don't have to send a safety in the box to stop the run. Often that's a tactic but not a given or an absolute as your state. You make a lot of assumptions that just aren't facts. Teams can absolutely double Diggs. We've seen it almost every playoff game. Why you think Diggs disappears in the playoffs? Hint, it's not because he sucks. Who would you make you beat you if you were a D coordinator. The Bills run game or Diggs? -
Get it done Beane. Lenny scores TDs.

Now, BB doesn't have to put a spy on Allen because he's not a great to run. That extra player will be used to double Diggs. You can bank on it. Diggs is about 40% of the Bills offense. -

BB will take Diggs out of the game. He won't let him beat him. Did Josh hurt his shoulder on a run play? -
Oh it's worth debating and talking about. I mean it's obvious that the Bills haven't called any RPOs. I think you can count on one hand how many RPOs have been called in six games. Thus, I think it's reasonable to conclude the Bills have shifted their desire to have Allen run. Also, we have years of samples where Allen is a willing runner. To imply Allen doesn't want to run just seems off to me. Of course Allen doesn't want to commit turnovers and take unnecessary hits. But to imply this is a major reason why he's not running seems off too. It's just not who Allen is. I think it's plausible and realistic think the Bills organization has emphatically limited Allen's ability to run. I have a difficult time thinking it's Allen who doesn't want to run. Thus, he absolutely is being cut off at the knees. In essence, Allen has became more one dimensional which isn't a good thing. In short, you may be correct. It's not worth debating because what you are suggesting is borderline ludicrous. Payton wasn't the only option the Bills had. It's one year too late...I doubt McD is leading this team to the AFC championship game.
