0-3 is a real possibility. The floor is much lower for me. If things go poorly, injuries, poor play, tough schedule, etc...The floor for me is 8-9. I agree with you ceiling.

That's best case scenario. There are a lot of ifs, question marks, and unknowns to any season. We will have to see how it plays out. I think it's pretty safe to say the Bills are Super Bowl contenders. They have to be in the AFC discussion.

Isaiah Simmons might be an answer for the Bills at MLB
newcam2012 replied to gjv's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ok. We will see how his game is on the NFL level. -
No small fact is that he has one of the best QBs on the planet throwing him the ball. I'd argue that Allen makes Gabe a lot better receiver than he really is. I think Davis on a team with an average offense would substantially drop off. Don't misunderstand what im saying here. I'm not saying Davis is a poor WR. I think he's an average WR2. I doubt he will be anything more than that. Of course, I can be wrong and hope to be wrong. However, it's pretty indisputable that Allen make Davis better. I agree.

There were no indications that his ankle was bothering him in the latter part of the season. After the season and up to now there were no subsequent reports that his ankle was bothering him in the later portion of the season. You just have this idea without any evidence that his ankle was still hurt.
-
His ankle was hurt very early on the season. There are no indications that his ankle was still injuried in the latter part of the season and the playoffs. Stop looking for excuses as to why he played mediocre. Gabe is a good feel good story. A late draft pick who works hard and is likeable. He's the kind of player Biffalo fans can really relate and gravitate towards. As a result, we fans often have narratives that fit our agenda. I want Gabe to excell and succeed. Who doesn't root for an underdog story, a hard worker, a team player, etc.. However, Gabe will likely never be elite due to his limitations. He can be a decent number 2 WR and an even better secondary WR.
-
Very clever. You made me spit out my coffee with laughter.
-
I disagree. I think his ankle was fine towards the latter part of the year and the playoffs. Gabe just under preformed and his skill set is limited. I'm not sure why that's so hard for people to understand? More specifically, the guy is not explosive nor quick off the ball. This results in extra time for Gabe to create seperation. He has stiffer hips and this contributes to the above. Thus, you see much more down the field throws as a result. Last year, he wasn't particularly good at contested catches and had too many drops. At best Gabe is an average number two receiver. Personally, I think the Bills can do much better. I would not pay this guy anywhere near 10 million plus a year. However, he has another year with lots of motivation to do better. This year should be ibteresting.

Isaiah Simmons might be an answer for the Bills at MLB

Not really. The best talent coming out of high school will almost always choose the big powerhouse schools. It's just the way it goes. It will likely be even more true with the new college changes. Of course, that doesn't mean that NFL players can't come from smaller less known schools. You pointed out some of many. Similarly, the big names and big schools doesn't equate to a lock as a good player in the NFL. My point is Williams has a lot to prove and his outlook to be a stud ad you claimed are questionable. Some indicators against that are smaller football school, 3rd round pick, on the smaller side. I'm willing to bet you and many others never even heard of the guy prior to the Bills drafting him. Now, suddenly he's being proclaimed as a stud. Come on man let's wait and see if he even sees the field. -

I'd temper my expectations a bit. He played at Tulane for a reason. Not exactly a powerhouse SEC school. He's also pretty light for a MLB in the NFL. He was a 3rd round pick for a reason as well. Lots to like but he has a lot to prove and overcome too. I'm gonna see how he develops and plays before I crown him the next stud or dud. -
Are the Bills committed to Ed Oliver in 2023?
newcam2012 replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
I hope so. Oliver doesn't suck. He is a good player but doesn't live up to the standards of a top 10 pick. He struggles with consistency and often isn't dominant and or seemingly disappears in some games. Hope the Bills can get a more consistent player this year. If not, I think Oliver's days as a Bill will end this year. -

Nice breakdown on the roster. I too think this year's roster is better. A lot of guys have to improve and get more opportunities to do so. Cook, Shakir, Brown, Torrance, etc... Two things that concern me as a fan are injuries and coaching. Hopefully, the Bills won't sustain big time injuries like last year. The coaching staff has to be better. Especially come playoff time assuming the Bills make it there. -

I hear you. Time will tell if MLB position becomes a liability. Perhaps, one if the players is up to the task and plays well. Best case scenario. Or McD can scheme well and limit the weakness. As a fan, the MLB position is a concern though. I really thought they would be someone in or draft a MLB. Perhaps Dorian is the answer but Beane stated he will play on the outside. Obviously, Beane and McD know more than me. -

Not so sure about this. I think Beane and fans are rightly concerned about the LB position. Let's be honest none if the guys on the current roster are proven or looked very good when they had small opportunities. Beane is obviously not going set off any alarm bells here. Also, he did draft Bernard so he's likely to stand by him for the moment. The board fell where better selections were found other than the LB position. I don't think it's accurate to say Beane is happy with who he's got at MLB. I think he's more hopeful than anything. -

Gotta trust Beane knows what he's doing. Maybe a diamond in the rough. -
My ego is just fine. I don't need nor look for validation. I express my opinions related to the Bills and football. Often, I am not in the majority opinion nor am I correct. If others dislike and or disagree with my posts then so be it. That's the beauty of this forum. Have a blessed day no hard feelings on my part dispute the insult.

Do you know how silly you sound? "Taking more hits well have a more negative impact than taking less hits." You want to take the statement literally with no inferences. Thanks for that information. It was truly a profound statement. WTF! Get real NewEra. Your spin and cover up is obviously a fail.
-
You really can't assume that. Some of the worst hits Allen and other QBs have taken is in the pocket. Based on your logic, maybe Allen should hand of the ball more and not pass. As another posted pointed out QBs are much more likely to get hurt passing. This notion of limiting Allen's legs limits the weapons of the team's offense. Of course, I'm not advocating reckless and careless running by Allen. We have 5 years of Allen running and basically being injury free. As he gets older he will likely run less. For now, let Josh be Josh.
-
Agree. Allen has more than proved his body is durable and able to handle the hits when he takes off. Of course, no need to be reckless or take unnecessary risks. However, I tho k Allen does a decent job of protecting himself. He's a big body. I want Allen to use his legs. That's one part of his game that makes him dangerous. I don't want to see a pure drop back passer. I still want to see plenty of RPOs. You can't play the game scared or timid. Be assertive to aggressive when you play. Let's not limit Allen's toolbox.

Are we more deserving of the SB hype this year than last?

I get that. Just gets a little tired some when you've waited literally decades upon decades to win just one. This fan base truly is craving for one. -

newcam2012 replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Generally speaking are the Bills expectations too high? Or are they that high enough? How many AFC conference championship games have they played in the Beane, McD, and Allen era? How many Super Bowl appearances and that's not counting winning it all? This team and organization has clearly stated the goal is to win the Super Bowl. Of course goals aren't always achieved but the bar has been set. They made a huge bold move to get Von Miller. He was supposed to be and still can be the missing piece. They were overwhelming favorites to win the Super Bowl last year. The hype was real and it certainly looked plausible early on. The latter part of the season it looked very good as the Bills rattled off a winning streak and eventually had a home playoff game vs Cinci. In essence, I'm trying to say I don't really feel fan expectations are "off the rails" here. I think it's fair to say the Bills are one of the teams in the discussion to compete and win the AFC. -
