  1. Did you look that up or guesstimate by eye? Very impressed if the latter....Oliver played 33% of the snaps. Phillips 28% I hope Ed being listed as practicing in "Full" this week is a sign of better things to come vs. KC I was disappointed by the pass rush vs. the Steelers, and I hope it was because we were up by 3 scores midway through the 2nd Q and it looked like the only team stopping the Bills was the Bills.
  2. The way the question was framed, it was like how does it feel to be part of the new Brady-Manning, Brady-Rodgers matchup, the one all the kids want to watch now is Allen-Mahomes. He said he thought about it because a promo someone retweeted came across his feed, it's surreal. Said he thought about it for a couple of minutes then moved back to prepping to try to win a football game
  3. I mean, Bridgewater is the veteran backup QB. He's supposed to be able to master the game plan and be ready to go any play of the game with little or no practice during the week, right?
  4. I thought the McDermott script was they took out a bunch of other stuff, but left the Ping-Pong table because it encouraged competition and he wanted guys to be competitive
  5. That's my thought. Possibly a thin custom splint of heat moulded plastic protecting the palm and a big wad of padding to protect the suture line on the back of the hand from casual contact. I think it's actually a very good sign that they didn't club it up.
  6. In his show, McKenzie said he felt he was ready to play, he'd passed all the testing, but Saturday they told him he couldn't play. I suspect that teams may have been ordered ensure a concussed player does not return too early, especially a concussion with physical symptoms (being unable to move, tingling in arms and legs, fencing reflex etc). Miami has probably been told that there will be an earth-shattering Ka-Boom if they do.
  7. Anyone got a good way to clean pepper juice off the hands after chopping up really hot peppers?
  8. ? where are you seeing a big cast on his hand? I see #47 in a red jersey, he is wearing two white gloves, may be some protective padding under one glove
  9. I'm guessing Benford will be back after the bye. I checked, and Knox missed 2 games plus a bye week.
  10. Just a guess, but if Adams had stopped, helped the guy up, asked if he was OK, and either asked for his card or asked a staffer to offer a contact number to "make good" any equipment damage/medical bills/lost work, and maybe some swag - my guess is the photog would quite likely have "called it a day". Those guys depend upon the goodwill and good relationships with players to do their best work. 'Course, watching a Raiders player get sued likely won't hurt his relations with Chiefs players and personnel too badly Rapaport blacking out the photographer's name and address at the top of the form, but leaving his first and last name clearly visible in the complaint. Isn't he the one who leaked the photos of JPP's mangled finger from his confidential medical records? Or was that Schefter?
  11. Especially too many corners, most of whom are on cheap rookie deals In case someone else missed it, last week we were activating a CB off our practice squad who didn't look "all that" in preseason, just to have 8 bodies on the gameday roster, because two of our guys were down and two on IR.
  12. He's further off than that...he's on the PS IR (Rhodes)
  13. I think we spent more time running Man last season than people think, especially before Tre' got hurt. People ask "why don't the Bills jam Kelce at the line? why do they give him a free release?" and the answer is 'because corners like Dane Jackson and Levi Wallace, while excellent off-ball corners, can not get physical with a receiver at the LOS and recover if they get beat'
  14. I've been finding myself disagreeing with Florio a lot, but I think he got this one right: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/josh-mcdaniels-we-e2-80-99ll-comply-with-whatever-nfl-asks-needs-in-davante-adams-investigation/ar-AA12SC9G Basically says in the video, that the NFL expects players to have an instant on/instant off switch where they turn it off immediately after the play, and that's totally unrealistic. But says it's part of managing your emotions, if you know you're still revved up on a hair trigger from the game: stay on the sideline a bit, don't put yourself in a situation where you have to wade through a "sea of humanity". Or, I would add, "buddy up" and ask an assistant coach or a trainer or another player to run interference for you. There's nothing. Suspensions/fines and other NFL actions usually come out on Weds, that is to say, today. Are you seriously making an analogy between stopping a non-credentialed person that has absolutely no business on the field and could pose a threat to coaches and players, vs. laying hands on a credentialed photographer there to capture candid photos of players, in a league which specifically requires players to cooperate with PR and with the press? Please discuss.
  15. Time Will Tell. Bills have a lot of guys on the team who have made themselves into the players they are today. Yo Cookie, I'm talking about you. Shakir seems like the type to take coaching and grind "smarter". And while I'd bet Boise State has better facilities than many would expect, I don't think it's exactly known as a training and player development powerhouse. So I wouldn't bet a dime that his functional strength and explosion won't skyrocket.
  16. But Gunner, isn't that the thing with talented players who develop into stars? Sure, Diggs had 100 yd games as a rookie. Talented players absolutely flash early - have a great game where they just kill another NFL team or a talented NFL peer. Then we separate the men from the boys as the talented players who are missing an ingredient - work ethic, fire in their belly to be the very best, elite physical traits, mental focus, field vision and processing speed, whatever it is - flash occasionally and overall squib, while the talented players who have those traits rise and shine consistently. Changing to your second topic: I've seen people ask here why we don't use McKenzie's speed more deep. He's not elite at tracking the ball in the air. But the real reason is something McKenzie himself said in his GoLong/Isaiah McKenzie show talking about how he grew up playing football, something to the effect of "I'd line up across from a guy 6" taller than me and 40 pounds heavier, and I'd say "that's OK, I'm quicker than you, I'm faster than you - unless he got his hands on me, then I'm in trouble." The "muscle hamster" knows he can be jammed and can't break free against a "muscle puma" who is just as strong pound for pound but has 40 more pounds of muscle to work with,2-3 more inches of arm, and who pretty well knows just where he's gonna go - up the sideline. Well, as others have noted, Shakir has the height and the frame to hold muscle, but his arms are actually about the same length as McKenzie's, 3" shorter than a top corner like Tre White. That kind of thing can theoretically be overcome with technique, but he's going to have to focus there and develop. Right now, you're correct he can be jammed and held. I'm not so certain as you that the Bills see Shakir strictly as a slot. Davis has said Shakir is filling the role he took as a rookie, which was fundamentally knowing all the WR roles and being able to play any of them. That said, did we ever see Davis lined up in the slot? I can't recall. So knowing and doing, not same thing.
  17. Eh. Old Jack Lambert quote. So do we here, evidently.
  18. I was thinking that. I also wondered if the score getting up so high so early took a little edge off Miller. I think Diggs is helpful and builds up his guys in his own way. It's just a very different way. Reason I think that, is you could really see the whole WR room level-up their play after Diggs got here in 2020. More toe-tap catches, more one hand catches, more contested catches, better releases, better routes. I'm sure some of it is Chad Hall, but I think a lot of it is Diggs. I agree with you about Miller being a leader and a positive force, talking to Morris after his fumble.
  19. PSA that Diggs didn't leap into the league as the fully-developed guy we see today. I think it took him a couple seasons to develop the release chops and the functional strength and the rest of the package we see today.
  20. Accepted. And I do think it's too early to tell, but I must have written quite unclearly. I didn't think I said anything about McKenzie putting up bigger numbers, or receiving numbers at all, in the post to which you replied. That said I think we agree far more than we disagree. First of all, if Shakir keeps working and avoids injury, I think there's no question he'll have a better career than McKenzie. He's got better physical tools. A guy with physically superior tools and equal smarts, want-to and work ethic will become a superior player. We agree that McKenzie wasn't a real receiver until the end of 2020/2021, so spending 3 years of your career as a WR without great route-running abilities will inevitably ding your overall career. It's to his credit that given a WR coach and a WR room that would teach, he set out to learn, but Shakir seems to be coming in at a higher level. Shakir ran some great routes and a fine scramble drill on Sunday and showed sure soft hands making some difficult catches. I'm just not clear that he's right now, as we stand, already 'All That' as a slot receiver. I don't think he's been tested against top coverage yet, either man or zone. I've seen him get open on some routes, but the craft of finding the gaps in the zone, not sure he's there. He may be - I just haven't had a chance to see it. So if you have, Great, but I'm looking and those aren't the receptions I see or even him getting a release and getting open. I also don't believe one excellent game tells us who a player is. That's probably another point where we may differ. I wasn't ready to anoint Tua on the basis of a great half against the Ravens where their secondary laid an egg; he may be or may become The Man but I need to see more. I wasn't ready to say "yep, he's the one!" about Allen until the 2nd half of 2019. Anyway, Peace Out, and yes, Shakir does look very smooth when he runs, as does James Cook.
  21. McKenzie is a living example of the saying "it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog". He's 5'7 1/2", 173; he's got tiny little 8" and something hands. He's played in the NFL for 6 seasons. Think about that. I SMH at the people who come on here like "oh, I don't think he studies film and asks questions or is serious about football". Yeah, McKenzie is a Grade A Jokester and lives to talk trash as Micah Hyde tells us, but how in Hell do people think a smurf with toy hands who came into the league with a basic level of how to read coverage or run routes has managed a 6 year career in the NFL if he doesn't work his ass off, not only in the gym but in the meetings and the film room to develop his ability to read a defense and run better routes? Shakir has the potential to exceed McKenzie's ceiling because he'll also work his ass off, but he's got uncoachables - better physical attributes - just as fast, but 6' with a bigger frame carrying close to 200 lbs and bigger hands - and he's come into the league with a much higher baseline of route running chops and football understanding. I'm very hopeful for Shakir and the more I watch of the film from Sunday, the more I like him - he threw several NIIIIICE blocks in there.
  22. On the dude - no idea, never heard of him. Read his twitter bio and your guess is as good as mine. On the Cover 3 - Erik Turner broke this down on the Cover1 film room this week. 2:40 in if the time stamp doesn't work He says the Steelers showed Cover3 but it was actually a Tampa 2 look. I don't think Allen was "throwing a prayer" into triple coverage but that explains why Diggs was all alone, and can we agree that throwing into what's actually a 2 high look may get Josh into trouble with a better secondary?
