Are we still trying to fit square pegs in round holes by saying our D has a defined MLB and OLB? Because it doesn’t - even per Lorax, there is no difference between Milano and Edmunds positions except for specific man or zone coverage assignments on various downs.

I agree, I don’t know where his Pro Bowl nomination came from, but I hardly feel his development trajectory is one that is cause for concern. He and Milano together are a solid duo - run plays were blown up at the line and adjustments were made in game. It’s an area to improve, but I would still keep the pitchforks stored.

Good points...we can't pay all these guys though so someone has to make some tough decisions soon lol luckily as fans all we have to do is criticize them 😁

MVP is a popularity contest, josh may be a candidate next year but mahomes is already the chosen one this year unfortunately.

Agreed...no one has been more valuable to their team than josh allen has been full stop.  If its the 'who has the best stats on paper' award which is what it seems to have turned into  it should absolutely be mahomes or rodgers.  Can you even imagine what our offense would be like with Travis Kelce to throw to

No doubt you bring him back for 2021. But I just don't see him as the long term answer at MLB.

Kind of reminds me of a Josh Allen-like project on the defensive side of the ball.  Absolute athletic freak thats young and raw and you want to see him improve every year.  Obviously its trending in the opposite direction than josh has and I think if we had to make the decision right now youre right.  Im sure they will line him up at olb or try him in a different role next season before moving on

This defense is truly transformed with Milano playing.  I just rewatched the game.  He made multiple plays and good open field tackles.  Maybe it is this scheme. Maybe he is just that good.  Beane can't let him walk out the door.  In an ideal world the Bills and Milano would realize they are both good for each other and hammer out a reasonable deal.  Maybe with COVID and a static or falling cap number, there won't be too much money to throw at Milano by other teams.  If they can't find common ground then they should tag him.  Previously I said let Milano walk and use the tag for Williams at RT.  Now I say do whatever they can to keep him in Buffalo for another year.

Edmunds was terrible again.  He took bad angles again.  When he sheds a block someone let me know because it will be his first.  The runs up the gut were in part due to him guessing the wrong hole and just getting blown out of the play.  There is no way he played anywhere close to a ProBowl level this year.  Am I missing something?  Are you guys seeing something I am not?  He was moved to OLB for a handful of plays.  I get it 9 points, why mess with what's working.  But what happens when they play a competent offense that can run the ball?

Hes another one of those high ceiling guys that im sure we want to give as much time to develop as possible.  Its pretty funny listening to commentators who clearly don't watch bills games talk about how good he has been lol

  5. I think at face value were probably the second best team in the nfl right now but our super bowl odds take a hit since we have to go through KC with how strong the afc is this year its hard to think of a team that can string 2-3 wins together to make it to the super bowl even including the chiefs but I guess someone has to do it lol why not us

  6. 5 minutes ago, Rubes said:

Thanks...so it’s just a single numerical measure of how good a team is?

Yup by comparing them with the skill level of their opponents...not sure if fivethirtyeight expands on that basic idea...they might factor in margin of victory and that kind of stuff.  You see elo used in the matchmaking for competitive video games a lot so you get similarly skilled teams playing eachother

An 'average' team is rated around 1500 in fivethirtyeights nfl ratings...were just under the saints and not far behind the chiefs making us 3rd overall

For the uninitiated, what is an Elo rating and what the heck does it mean?

Its a mathematical model that's used to give players/teams ratings in various games.  A win over a good team will give you more elo points than a win over a bad team...that sort of thing.

They rate qbs as well using elo and josh just overtook the mighty Patrick mahomes for the number 1 spot tonight

After the Fitz Magic performance this past weekend, I don't want the fish.  Tuo is a kid who could go wild, Fitz could heave the ball 40 yards with a DE hanging off of his facemask.  Give me a known quantity.

Horrendous playcall/execution by the raiders on that play.  That offense does look much more effective with fitzpatrick I can't believe Tua is seeing any playing time at all..he just holds the ball too long

yes i think  the best thing is  to make  sure  we knock  the  dolphins  out . we let them  win        with  resting our starters and it  might  bite  us  in  the  rear  in the first round

Dolphins are probably the 7 seed still if they lose...they move up to the 5 if they beat us most likely

Idk about you guys but I do not want to slip to 3 and see Baltimore in round 1...id much rather get them after the titans beat them up a bit

  10. 5 minutes ago, SageAgainstTheMachine said:

By the way current projections are now up to 2% for the one seed.  It ain't nothing.  If the Chiefs lose to the Saints, we're one fluke away from it happening.

Sucks its one specific fluke...it would be nice if losses to the Falcons and saints did the trick but they'd have us in conference record.  Chargers seem like the type of team that could upset somebody down the stretch

The chiefs will play 2 games before we play again. If they (miraculously) lose both, I’m cool with hammering down here. If they win both, I’m good with sitting Josh, Diggs, Beasley, Tre, Milano and Edmunds. But I trust Mcd to do what’s right. As long as nobody gets hurt, I’m good.

Yea any hope for the 1 seed depends on the chiefs losing today for sure...they aren't losing to the Falcons and chargers but if were in week 17 and need the chargers to upset the chiefs you never know

  12. 8 minutes ago, El Guapo said:

We will know a lot about the seeding picture before we kick off next week. If the #2 is viable, play for it, but with vanilla play calling (or put red herring plays in for defenses to game plan for).

How would #2 not be viable after this week? Lol were a game behind the steelers with the tiebreaker if they win and they've got a couple tough games coming up.  Heck the one seed could be mathematically in play in week 17 although it would take a big upset with the chiefs losing to the chargers

From what everyone says A LOT. Probably a lot more than we realize.

Yea could be...I dont feel that way mostly because josh was basically thrown to the wolves his rookie year lol and now we have to keep hearing how terrible he was with no mention he was throwing to Kelvin Benjamin and zay Jones with a pretty shaky oline 🤣 they got him the tools to be successful eventually but that first season we did josh zero favors

Its not likely the Pats make it at all.  Miami may not make it either.

Very uphill battle for both teams...hard to see the ravens not winning 10 games at the very least with the schedule they have left and more than likely 11.  Colts browns and ravens have pretty easy  schedules left

We can't. He almost assuredly will be getting at least one if not his pick of head coaching spots this year.

There are projected to be 8 or 9 openings for head coaches with not that many truly qualified candidates. And Daboll is going to be at the top of the list for teams planning on drafting and developing a young QB. What the Bills have done by Allen has garnered them massive, massive amounts of respect across the NFL in ways that I don't think we can even fathom.

Additionally the Bills rebuild is viewed as a blueprint in how to do it now for other teams looking to ascend from years of poor results. Miami has done a lot of similar things to what we have done and will be a tough challenge for the division starting next year, especially with an extra top 10 and potentially although unlikely top 5 pick in the 1st and 2nd rounds from Houston.

I wonder how much credit daboll really deserves for Josh's development...seems like Josh is putting in a lot of work on his own to shore up his mechanics.  What he's been able to do is pretty rare and I feel like daboll is gonna have these unrealistic expectations following him wherever he goes now

Basking in the victory we have all longed for (I was 22 last time we won the division) and tuned into Sunday NFL Countdown on ESPN. Matt Hasselbeck said he feels JA is currently as good as Mahomes. Of course, Patriot homer Teddy B cant help himself and try to downplay Josh's ascension and point out the playoff loss last year as one of the reasons Mahomes is so much better than Josh. Between Teddy and Rodney Harrison and their Patriot loving BS, its nearly impossible to watch. Oh well Teddy!  AFC East Champs this year!

If were comparing their play recently and not just comparing resumes the chiefs offense has looked pretty out of sorts lately.  Obviously mahomes has a more impressive resume that doesn't even seem relevant to bring up not sure what teddy was doin lol at least hes better than Rodney Harrison but that isn't saying much

It’s because of Mayfield’s annoying commercials.

That could be it haha I think its mostly all the hype they had last year and they were bad and now this year its like ooooh theyre so good what a heartwarming story 🤣  I mean is that really impressive or did  they just underperformed wildly last year lol

No.  I want them to be in the playoff hunt next week, so we get to be the ones to end their season.

Id like to see the dolphins lose actually...pats have no chance in catching the ravens anyway.  I got real sick of all the ooooh look at the dolphins point differential talk 🤣

Anybody hoping for the Patriots to get clobbered today?  Of course I wouldn't mind seeing Dolphins get hammered also!

Thats a win win right there lol seems like a pretty terrible slate of games today.  Dolphins pats is interesting and saints chiefs.  Saints win gets us a longshot chance at the 1 seed.  I would love to see the giants beat the browns.  I despise the browns more than other afc playoff teams for some reason 🤣
