Never? No. Do I think they need some statistically inefficient 50-50 balance because it sounds nice? Also no.
-
No it doesn’t. Chiefs were 25th in attempts last year. Taking the ball out of your star QB’s hands is a win for the defense, always. This is dinosaur mentality.

Lots of folks living 40 years in the past when it comes to ideas about running the football. The league rushing leader hasn’t made the postseason since 2020.
-
We threw it all the time because we have a superstar QB and running the ball is for the Mac Jones’ of the world.

Well by the same token, if you want to make an Allen/Herbert comparison, Herbert has the far worse coaching staff. I think everyone would agree. The Chargers are somehow WORSE than the sum of their parts which, at the NFL level, usually means coaching ineptitude. I would go as so far as to say that if you switched Staley and McD, we would probably very similar teams. That’s how bad Staley is. And a lot of folks give Herbert slack for having a bad HC. Some give him too much, in my opinion. But if you want to know the reason why Herbert hasn’t had MORE success than he has had, coaching is #1, #2 and #3 on the list.

Idk what the Chargers were thinking letting Hunter Henry go. He is ALWAYS productive and imo that’s a stable of weapons that would’ve helped Herbert even more. The main thing you are missing though Alpha, is that as Herbert’s weapons have broken down around him, he has won more. 6 wins to 9 wins to 10 wins over the last 3 seasons. So, as the talent has decreased around him, Herbert has had to compensate more and win MORE games. To your point that would Allen/Mahomes have won more, yes of course. But he isn’t Allen or Mahomes or Burrow. Those are the 3 best QBs in football. No way bro. Staley ain’t even in the same stratosphere as the Bills’ coaches.

I would switch out Denver 2020 to 49ers 2020. That was the "Josh Allen and the Bills offense has arrived and are legit" game, IMO. We had put up points on some weaker defenses, but we dominated those boys all game.

I’m convinced that someone up top told him to stop or he was gonna be fired. I don’t mind aggression, particularly against great teams where you need a little boost to actually get the win. But this guy will go for it on 4th and 3 at his own 40 in the second Q, then in the 4th Q, he will punt on 4th and 2 on the opponent's 40. If you want to be an analytics guy, be an analytics guy all the time. He's not really an analytics guy at all, he's a "zig when everyone thinks you're gonna zag" guy, which is just a shade away from being an idiot.

Elam a healthy scratch part deux (now part TRES) (now part QUATRO)

Correct. If McD can’t make you serviceable as a CB, you must be legit awful. -
I think Justin Herbert is a great QB being held back by putrid coaching moreso than just about anyone else in the league, but I also think he’s overrated. It’s kind of a conundrum.

Bears DC Alan Williams Leave of Absence

This is why everything should be called “rumor.” -
Okay so maybe 53 is only supposed to cover Jones on the outside, and if he goes inside, Edmunds is supposed to take him. I mean, if we are allowed to just make up whatever we want about the play, let’s do it.

The rumor is super bad. FBI raided his house and Halas hall. -
Lmao

Quentin Nelson probably WAS a bad draft pick, strategically. Great player. HoF player. but what has that resulted in? Luke Kuechly same thing. Great player. HoF. But he’s been sitting on the couch for a few years. You know who isn’t? Fletcher Cox, interior rusher. He’s played in two Super Bowls. Hell, even Gilmore is still playing. ILB guys don’t play at a high level for 12 years. They are the defensive equivalent of running backs. And just because some are great and some have success and some win Super Bowls, doesn’t make it good strategy. The Chiefs took CEH over Tee Higgins. Terrible pick, terrible strategy. They won the Super Bowl again anyway. doesn’t mean the pick wasn’t still bad.

It was still a bad pick. I didn’t call it a grand failure, but when, as you said, it’s ultimately a lotto ticket, maximizing your hits and minimizing your misses is the only way to go. Which is why it was a bad pick. Because it didn’t do that. Even if Edmunds was a better player for 4 years and still got priced out, it would’ve been bad. The only way it would’ve been a good pick is if Edmunds was the best LB in the NFL for a decade. And even then, it would be about the result, not the strategy.
