Sunday’s Loss Was Just a Replay of the Win in KC
FireChans replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
As much crap as Josh or the coaching has gotten for not being good enough in our last games of the season, the DL is sneaky biggest no show crew. They did nothing in a game where we NEEDED the front four to help cover the back 7. And last year, the entire front 7 all got blown off the ball against the Bengals who were playing a couple backups that game. I think the only one who made any kind of a play last year was Milano. Thuney is the best OG for a reason and the strength of the KC line is their interior. But stars who are paid like stars are supposed to make star plays in big moments. For Ed to basically not win a rep and Rousseau and Floyd to no show vs the shaky OT’s is unacceptable. -
Thad Lewis should just play that video of him getting lit up while delivering a strike to Stevie Johnson to beat the Dolphins and not elaborate.

Folks don’t understand that if Josh and the Bills break through once, whether Mahomes gets hurt or they beat them once in the postseason and the Bills win the whole thing, it will be all the more meaningful after this. No SB team was built in a day.

He was the reigning MVP, finished the game with 162 passing yards, 34 rushing yards, 1 pick and 3 sacks. Come on man.

Yeah yeah, and if Dorian Williams gets spun around on misdirection on runs like he has ALL SEASON, and Pacheco had 120 yards at half, you’d be playing Monday morning coordinator questioning the decision to put him out there when Klein led the team in tackles the week before. Dorian doesn’t even have experience with the green dot, you think he should be QBing the defense in that spot? ”anything would have been better” is not a sufficient answer. And honestly, I don’t think it’s true. -
Shutting down the reigning MVP Lamar Jackson to clinch the first Bills AFCCG appearance since the 1993 season. Defensive masterclass.

If anyone has ever played Madden, you know you can’t score there. I thought Josh was a Madden guy.

I don’t understand this argument that our base nickel D was getting run on, but we want less linebackers in coverage. I guess you wanted to start out with more dime looks? Or you wanted Matakevich out there in coverage? Neither of those sound like solutions to me. To me, the one of the biggest injuries prior to this game was Rapp. I think this game needed our big nickel 3 safety look that we had been going with occasionally. But we couldn’t, because everyone was hurt. -
Interesting stat I saw in regards to regular season losses

Can you tell me our W/L record in games Josh has multiple TO’s? -
Mix and match Allen/Mahomes and Reid/McDermott

Allen had a pretty good OL in 2020 and 2023, yeah. In 2021 and 2022 there was some regression and poor OL play that Allen was covering for. You know who has had really spotty OT play all year? Mahomes. Our OL on average was probably a little better than his this year. Our weapons on average were better than his this year. We still lost. He still outplayed Allen. That’s why this one hurt the most. -
Torrence was a day 2 pick. Dawkins was a day 2 pick. Knox was a day 2 pick. Zay Jones was a day 2 pick. Spencer Brown was a day 2 pick. This is a total flail job because Justin Shorter didn’t play in our playoff game.

Prior to this season, Diggs was a top 5 WR. For all the big games Allen wins in January, he wears every divisional loss as well. -
BB to Buffalo is intriguing, especially as we are going to need a defensive overhaul anyway. Biggest roadblock, imo, is that there’s some kind of handshake deal with Kraft and BB that he doesn’t go in the division.

McD has played younger players his whole career if they are good. If they suck, they don’t play. Benford played a lot last year. Elam did not. Zay Jones played a lot when he was a rookie (he sucked, but sucked less than everyone else). Dorian Williams is spinning like a top out there on defense, so he doesn’t play. Shakir struggled with drops, so he didn’t play much as a rookie. Dawkins played every game as a rookie, because he was good. Tre White played every game as a rookie, because he was good. Rousseau played almost every game as a rookie, because he was good. Honestly, this is such a tired narrative. Yes, Boogie Basham didn’t see the field a lot, it’s because he ***** sucks.

Are we positive Allen is “on that level” of a multiple MVP, multiple SB MVP winner? -

That’s fine. Mahomes in 2018 was a way better QB than Allen in 2018. He had better coaching, better weapons, and was the better player. These things can all be true. -
Josh Allen the turnover machine
FireChans replied to D. L. Hot-Flamethrower's topic in The Stadium Wall
It mattered because every game mattered until the playoffs started. For all we know, an extra week of rest helps the entire team show up vs the Chiefs. I agree they should have got DHOP as well. -

He’s actually left the field with more than 3 leads. You just remember the ones we lost. And in those losses, he contributed greatly to them. -

Or we could have had the division locked up and rested starters week 18 like the Chiefs did. Food for thought. -

I think we beat KC if we were the one seed and had the bye instead of playing the Steelers. Benford, Diggs, Spector, Martin, Bernard were all hurt in that game. -

Well, I think we missed on Harbaugh. He wants full power, and the Chargers are giving it to him. Not sure Beane would have done that. BB is ancient. Great coach, similar offensive system, but I’m not sure I want to be looking for a new coach in 2-3 years. Especially if McDaniels is the heir apparent again. Vrabel and the rest have won no more than McD. Vrabel is a tough coach and a good coach and his team has a rep of playing tough, but he also wants more power. Also that whole AJ Brown trade away frightens me, what team gets rid of a top 6 WR in football while trying to contend? -
Josh Allen the turnover machine
FireChans replied to D. L. Hot-Flamethrower's topic in The Stadium Wall
Josh’s turnovers led to key losses in the regular season, which cost us the chance to rest players in week 18 or potentially get a bye, which led to increased player injuries and an eventual playoff exit. Josh did not have any turnovers this postseason, but while AJ Klein was trying to cover Travis Kelce, all I could think about is the offense turning it over twice in 30 seconds against the Broncos with 1 min left in the half and Josh throwing 3 picks to Jordan Whitehead. -

When you say they were a SB winning team, you mean they won one in 1969? They year before Mahomes started, they lost in the wildcard round. The year before Josh Allen started, we lost in the wildcard round. There was certainly a talent gap between the two rosters, but Allen was not a good QB his first year starting. Mahomes was the MVP. It’s not a debate, it’s a legitimate fact.
