  1. This is an phenomenal take. I immediately thought of the Jags as well as I keep up with these rates for defenses and know they're a heavy man team as well. As you point out the flipside of the successful QB needing better WR's is the defense needing better corners. Man just boils down to winning match ups and you need the talent. I'm a bit jealous of what Jameson Williams brings to the Lions. The article calls out he has the highest wide open rate vs man in the NFL at 17.6% this year. But just a fan of his game. Just a man killer with his speed. I like how our WR has advanced and certainly more upside but still long for that homerun hitter that can take the top off.
  2. Came across this and noticed it had a lot of Allen/Bills content. Really great article breaking down QB performance vs coverage type. https://ftnfantasy.com/nfl/qbs-vs-man-and-zone-coverage Calls out how teams play a lot of man vs us because we shred zone. Also that we have a very high rate of open WR’s vs zone. Also touched on the concept that the better man QB’s might be that way more a a result of better WR’s. Which makes a ton of sense and why that number one or high end WR is still a big deal. FYI the Lions play the most man in the NFL.
  3. Didn’t know that, has the Red been discussed as far as you know?
  4. Red End Zone's with Super Bowl era throwbacks please
  5. Why I liked the signing, for us
  6. He would certainly be on that list
  7. In would argue the most detrimental thing that can happen to a franchise is having a QB that seems just good enough to keep
  8. Who is on your list as the best QB’s of all time? Maybe top 5….
  9. He really doesn’t have a point and as far as I can tell yours is fairly limited as well. I have been here for over 20 years. I’m here to talk about the game and the Bills. This entire thread was supposed to be about Purdy, it then turned into a conversation about the prestige of two franchises. If some of that overlaps with our playoffs failures I really don’t know what to tell you. It happened. It was relevant to the conversation to discuss. I guess you can block me if all this annoys you so greatly.
  10. Fresh take, since I’m willing to debate against my team when it makes sense I should just shut up and leave. Nice way to build a balanced community. I’m sorry I don’t fit in your little box. Sure, some of me feels like this is different. But then I remind myself that I said I would never judge this team or coach on the regular season again. Just been fooled hard way too much. I’m about as far toward the positive with this team as I can be right now. I didn’t think I would get here this season but I am, and it makes me very happy. We have just seen the rug pull way too frequently with this regime so I’m still going to argue the side of balanced perspective. Not that you aren’t, as I largely feel the same as your post, just in general. Further I’m not even sure KC is the main threat at this point. All these AFC contenders can really run the ball and play physical defense. Seems like a really bad year to be an undersized pursuit defense. I’m curious given we have been aligned on some of this stuff before, how do you evaluate this year if we get no deeper than the Divisional again? Is it then become same old Bills? If you want to DM me a response that’s fine. Simon is not happy with this thread and I don’t blame him. I didn’t see updates on Purdy today either in case somebody has heard something.
  11. I remember that Houston playoff game as well in 91 or 92, he was something watch late in games
  12. Nearly every team in the AFC playoffs is going to try and pound us and they’re very physical teams. They either can run or play defense in a way that can really steal your will to win. Teams like the Titans in the past and the Colts or the Bengals really got us off our game by just controlling the ball. We probably match up with KC better than most the others. I’m optimistic with how much our talent can gel and if we stay healthy because we really don’t know what that looks like. But to me this isn’t the year to be a pursuit defense in the AFC. I see no easy outs in any of the games.
  13. We have the same DVOA as last year, which was the lowest DVOA we have had in the 2020’s. In 2022 in was 38.9 which was the best in football. EPA aligns with this as well.
  14. They will come out with the best effort they have, no doubt. It’s basically a year ending game for them. But it’s not a really easy spot for them either. Purdy banged up and the injuries, east coast trip, then factor us off the bye, getting as healthy as we have been all season. We certainly haven’t seen our best yet. It will be exciting to see Coleman and Kincaid back with a with Copper getting more acclimated along with Milano playing for the first time in forever. Hell, we saw like what,2-3 games of Bernard and Milano? This is must see TV just seeing all our guys playing. It might be the healthiest we have been this late in the year in McD’s tenure. We should take care of business here.
  15. Shocking a Roman led offense can’t get it done
  16. https://rbsdm.com/stats/stats/
  17. I put up a post on it, lets get the thread back on subject. It's off the rails. Purdy practiced today. He did multiple times last week as well. It doesn't mean he will play. His imaging tests are negative and they were last week and he still didn't play. They really don't know what the issue is.
  18. He practiced today but who knows
  19. Are we the only team that gets injured? Do you expect us to be at literal 100% health after 17 weeks? I don't know what stats show we exceeded expectations. We had a better EPA from 2020 to 2022 than we do this year in a singular season. From an EPA standpoint we ranked 3rd vs 2nd in that stretch and 5th vs 10th. We have historically underachieved against our EPA and we are ranked worse than we have been historically. Maybe the whole league has got worse. I responded to an off topic take and defended my position since.
  20. We have beat KC more decisively in the regular season when they won Super Bowls. Even if this is finally the time we can see we have passed them, why do you think it's the time we have passed everybody else? We are 1-2 against playoff level AFC teams and we have maybe two wins in our entire run since Allen came on vs actual playoff caliber teams. We blew teams outs for several years and you saw the end result. I don't see how we have some smoking gun that we have finally solved out issues (news flash, it's not coming in the regular season anyway) The 49ers are a below average team this year. None of this conversation is about that.
  21. We have one quality win that occurred on a 4th down play. I'm hopeful about our trajectory, but all the advanced stats don't align with your perspective. Nor does the eye test in my opinion. The trajectory is up, sure, but to think we are poised for more than previous years based on performance isn't accurate IMO.
  22. That’s fine Gunner. I respect you as a poster but we are just looking at this different. I measure this team on how deep they get, period. At the end of the day I don’t really care what the circumstances are. Life tends to not care about the “variables” and when you introduce them it turns into a never ending hypothetical. Nobody cares that I overcame X or Y to get to the place I’m at. Life isn’t about these nuances. Have we been the better franchise excluding the playoffs? Sure. We have been more consistent. Our floor is higher but so far there ceiling is higher and I would rather this mo fo be cathedral ceilings with how I look at this. They just have gotten way deeper. We did the whole champions of the decade in the 90’s. Would I trade it for one 2010‘s Eagles or 1990’s Giants/Redskins style Super Bowl? Hell ya I would. We already had won the round as the team of the decade and it’s hard to top the 90’s with that designation. My outlook at this point is pure results. That, we don’t really have. I’m hopeful on this iteration. We will see how it goes. If we don’t make the conference championship at this point I will keep feeling as I do. We need to accomplish more outside the regular season and early playoffs.
  23. Both are difficult match ups. Torn a bit. Lamar tends to shrink in the playoffs and you could say the Chargers are a team that historically comes unraveled but Harbaugh erases that image in my opinion. The playoffs will be difficult this year. No easy outs. We will need to be better, hopeful with how healthy the roster is getting.
  24. This conversation is not about hope Bills brother, it’s about a declaration that we have accomplished more than a franchise that has gone further much more often. I actually am optimistic at this time. I didn’t think a chance existed that I would feel this way about this season. But I am and I will always bleed with this team like all of us do. My only argument is WE NEED to do it, just really tired of these hypotheticals and rationalizations that try and place us in a class that we just haven’t reached. Do it.
