D. Hardy is awful.
-
Trying too hard and not playing within yourself can definitely be a detriment. I’m talking more about intensity and a sense of urgency. If anything I saw the opposite of “trying too hard”. It looked more like going through the motions. Hard to quantify. Jordan Hancock looked like he was playing with a sense of urgency.
-
True. But damn you would think there would be a sense of urgency from young men, where their entire future hinges on their performance. One game, one play could mean the difference between a roster spot, practice squad or “ stocking shelves” for the rest of their lives. Zero passion, urgency, or emotion on full display from many of the players last night.

A couple for sure. For the most part I think many accept that it is only pre-season. I think some were hoping to see a little more improvement or glimmer of hope with all the additions through the draft and free agency on the defensive side of the ball. Unfortunately last night there was not much to be positive about. Hence the frustration. Even the people frustrated know the bills should and will contend for the Super Bowl. They just fear nothing has changed when it will matter most. i do think beane and McDermott have a vision and blueprint. I’m excited to see if they can bring it to fruition. I feel really good about this team for some reason. And this is coming from someone who is not a McDermott or Beane fan. Love the culture and the way they do business. Not a fan of the defensive scheme at all. But I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. They have earned it after last season. Now if they severely choke and most of the additions do not pan out, that’s an entirely different conversation that needs to be had at the end of the season. But until then. Go Bills!!!!!

Post of the day!!! 😂

Careful you will be labeled as extreme overreacting, unhinged, and having a meltdown. Questioning, or having concerns towards a player, coach, or gm is not appreciated.

Does there need to be a rethinking of the basic D?

When damar Hamlin is a starting safety and Cole bishop looks like a train wreck it absolutely should give you pause for concern. Not to mention t. Rapp hits like a freight train and injures your own players throughout the season where depth is limited while at the same time running a 4.8 fourty yd dash. Tre white being your 2nd starting corner after Achilles and acl tear. That secondary could be a real problem. Maybe they play great, and I get it’s only preseason. However I don’t think it’s outlandish to be mildly concerned. Especially after we have seen this same story the past 7 years and we all know how it ends. Even with a pyor and Hyde back there in their prime. -

It is preseason though. Maybe they don’t want to show their hand and come the season unleash an attack style defense with more man coverage when needed. I would love to see more scheme versatility. -

Which I do give McDermott props for in the playoffs last year. I will say if they gave Henry the ball 40 times, it may have been a different outcome. -

Yup. Play not to lose instead of playing to win. Most if not all dominant defenses throughout nfl history have been attack style defense that dictate the game of play and disguise coverages. That is how you limit great qbs and force them into making mistakes and getting them out of rhythm . This bend but don’t break, prevent, complimentary football crap is beyond infuriating. In all my years of watching football I have never seen a team so consistently give up 3rd and longs for a 1st down. I use to love dick lebeaus style of defense. You never knew what was coming and when. -

I would add Hamlin, strong, and Codrington to that list of bad. -
If you are cutting Hamlin, do it now...
<bills4life> replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
If this is the case then beane needs to get on the phone and package epinesa plus a fifth for someone who can come in and start without being a liability. Because here again it will cost again in the playoffs against better qbs. -

If the “incident” never happened he would have been cut the following year. -
So it should be clear we won’t get there rushing 4

Agree with everything you said. But damn if they could just improve on that stupid 3rd and long defense giving up first downs all the time. It’s beyond infuriating. Unacceptable and inexcusable. -

It’s so true. Would love to see a guy come in and have a Bryce paup type impact and a Ted Washington type on the interior. -

So sick of our 3rd down defense. It’s a joke. -
Rams extend RB Kyren Williams - 3-year, $33 million
<bills4life> replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Im not advocating to dump him. However he is not a top 3 rb and should not be paid as such. Another couple of seasons with last years production is a different matter. But the body of work is simply not there yet. I’m sure beane is not happy with his antics either. If he continues on this path and the bills offer a similar contract commensurate to Williams, and he refuses a fair offer, I would not be shocked if he is moved. I would take a prime Fred Jackson, marshawn lynch, or lesean McCoy over him. But that’s just me. -

<bills4life> replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah and the two years previous he averaged 800 yds and 2 tds per season. Cook had 1 great season. Let’s not act like he is a bonafide superstar. While Davis may not have the home run capability, as a full time starter he would easily replicate cook’s first two seasons. Especially with this line. -

Now if only that marketplace was commensurate with ticket prices for the average middle class family in the western ny area. Its going to be interesting to see what ticket prices are in 10 years.
