  1. Unless we find a pro bowl/impact DE...we may be stuck with Lawson. Maybe this is this the year that he "magically" finds himself! After all it is a contract year! Sure...he will carve out a comfortable living as an "adequate" player.
  2. Jones would be nice if he were the final piece missing and the defense was improved. The Bills are still a year or two away from seriously contending.
  3. I have been a fan since the 1969 World Series. Bills and Mets for life! ouch!
  4. Ok...I agree. We already know that Beane & Co are exploring both areas. I have no doubt that Josh Allen will eventually have better weapons. I just cannot believe in that DL as a whole.
  5. I like Hughes and I am not talking about him. We need someone to compliment him. Murphy, Lawson and the rest of the crew are not the answer and they have proven it. Go ahead and rationalize how they are going to improve, or some divine force is going to will them to the promised land. We need another pro bowl/impact DE.
  6. Our Defensive ends have been tested and they are not working. Even with the addition of Oliver, I see only a marginal improvement in their play. How many dropped balls and penalties killed drives last year? What is wrong with John Brown and Robert Foster? I am sure Beane is looking for another veteran. The Bills need to strengthen the lines first...thats where it starts. As far as the Number 2 defense last year, it was misleading and statistical. That was no number 2 defense last year giving up huge chunks of yards and long drives. See that's just it: "Capable" we need more than capable players on defense. Capable meaning a continual 8-8 and 9-7 record.
  7. Clowney all the way. He is much younger and he fills a much bigger need. He may be Mcdermott's "Prototype" at the position. Yes, I believe we need a DE first. Why do you think we drafted Cody Ford. Build a strong line first and then get your WR. The Bills have already improved offensively. Beane may still be looking for a veteran wideout. Next years class of Wr's seems much better.
  8. Clowney all the way. He is much younger and he fills a much bigger need. He may be Mcdermott's "Prototype" at the position.
  9. I have heard that the Bills had an alternate choice besides Singletary at that spot. Who it was is anyone's guess...perhaps Winovich? As much as I like Winovich and even Zach Allen, the Bills may have been measuring the pick with a predetermined solution at DE later. We already know that they had some dialogue with Frank Clark, Ansah and Clowney. They obviously like what they have in Singletary and they want to see how he plays out. As far as Receivers are concerned, we tend to forget the emergence of Foster (which I believe is genuine) and the acquisition of John Brown. That is a potentially deadly combination for Josh Allen and an improved offensive line. As much as I love defense, the Bills had only so much to work with.
  10. Oh I agree...I like him myself and I would have loved him here. The Bills are obviously looking somewhere else. I thought for sure the Bills would select him. NE will certainly know how to utilize him and yes, he should have a good career. However, I like Singletary. He plays must faster than combine scores...this has been discussed. One more thing about Winovich...I think the Bills are looking for a different prototype for DE.
  11. Rightfully so! Tasker was the man! He epitomized the role of "Special Teams"
  12. Sounds like Metcalf. The reference to Basketball...thought I read that. Edmunds? Wait until he is 22...
  13. These guys actually get paid to sit around and make shallow forecasts. Another example of the misinformed! At least visit the Bills website or do some other token inquiry about the team.
  14. I am also cautiously optimistic. I like what the Bills have done on the offensive side of the ball to help Josh Allen succeed. I am defensive minded and I believe that the DL and DE positions need attention. I love the draft picks, and I like how Beane was able distribute the picks with what he had. Overall, I feel that the Bills have improved but remain a year or two away to seriously challenge.
  15. Ha! well, I know he can run more than a straight line fully clothed! I don't understand the obsession with wr's this year. With the emergence of Foster and the acquisition of John Brown, the Bills are much improved. Sounds like some Madden scenario...yes, half of these guys were passed over several times. For a reason!
  16. Ha! well, I know he can run more than a straight line fully clothed!
  17. You are right, but lets not forget that these guys get a lot of hype. I believe that Ferguson may have some issues that concerned the Bills. Winovich should be the classic high intensity guy we see come through every year...he is really going to be hyped up if he does well with Patriots. We will probably hear what geniuses the Pats are. The Bills had to make a choice and they had to get it right. Someone mentioned earlier that McDermott has his own prototype for a DE...whoever that is...we will see.
  18. Right on, but we need the proper personal to carry this out with impact and force. We need guys that opposing teams worry about every minute.
  19. Yes, but this offense has been improved considerably. More than people realize or will admit. I love the picks on the offensive side of the ball and the free agents. Yes, I love Josh Allen and the sky is the limit. I would like to see another Pro Bowl/impact player at the DE position...seems like the missing piece. Someone healthy and productive. Who that is...no idea.
  20. I agree...takes time and we can see that Beane/Mcdermott are working on this.
  21. No, the defense was not bad at all...just not good enough. I am not much of a numbers cruncher...as a fan and observer for 45+ years, it is my opinion.
  22. Exactly. How much time does he need...Murphy as well. Now many will argue that the addition of Oliver will free up opportunities for Murphy and Lawson. I just do not see it...perhaps a marginal difference. They just don't have it...sorry to say, they are not good enough plain and simple. These guys are holding up the rebuild.
