  1. That’s correct, maybe Jimmy G could be Tannehill, but let’s not forget that Tanny has the luxury of Derrick Henry. It’s not easy to find a running back at that level. Jimmy G needs a lot of help to be a good starting QB. Nothing about him would make me afraid. Tannehill’s career revival has been incredibly overrated. He’s played well at times, but Henry is a beast. That guy opens up so much for Tanny. The running back is so undervalued that people forget what an elite back can do for a QB. Gurley made Goff look incredible for a while as well.
  2. I think it does hurt Lamar, but it all comes down to controlling the Ravens run game, and passing game between the numbers imo. Throwing the ball outside isn’t part of Lamar’s game, so I’m not sure how bad the wind hurts him. We can’t afford to let them gain yards on the ground. That not only allows them to put points on the board, it also keeps the ball out of Josh’s hands.
  3. I agree, the defense is good but not great. My biggest concern is the fact that the Ravens D is a little dirty. Judon is a super dirty player. The O line needs to be on with pass protection.
  4. I think this game comes down to our defensive coaching and game plan. I’ve defended Lamar quite a bit, but even I see him as an all or nothing QB. It seems like Jackson either runs wild, or completely struggles when forced out of his comfort zone. This game will be decided by whether or not we force him out of his comfort zone. I was initially worried about our offense vs the Ravens D, but if we play Lamar the right way, I don’t think we need to score a ton. Make him throw the ball outside the numbers at all costs, and do everything to take away the run game. I’ll just tip my hat and be in shock if the Ravens beat us by throwing the ball to outside receivers.
  5. I think he’s an average DC, who coaches a defense that benefits from McD’s input. We seem to hit a rough patch on defense every season, then it miraculously improves. I’ve always attributed that to McD increasing his role when we struggle. I don’t dislike Frazier, he seems like a great guy and perfect “process” type coach. I also think he’s a Dick Jauron type head coach in every sense.
  6. Those are perfect questions, and they ask exactly what I was thinking. However, I’d rephrase single to married. There’s a big difference between what girlfriends and wives tolerate. If this is a young guy, he can get away with being foolish and keep someone who thinks he’s cool, at least until she decides she needs a more mature guy. Wives already think we’re lame and totally uncool, so we can’t get away with these type of decisions.
  7. Agree, there was a time when I was worried the NFL might have a real QB problem. Those guys you mention had been around forever, but no one seemed like a worthy successor. Then the next generation of elite QB’s appeared overnight. I also like how the new generation of QB’s make the game fun. The Brady, Brees, and Rodgers types have no personality. There was always this idea the QB needed to act like a grumpy old man to be a true team leader. I like watching these guys have fun playing the game.
  8. Maybe a similar QB, but totally different people. Rodgers is nothing but drama, while Allen has been all about the team, and maintaining a low key presence.
  9. Why do guys who get into fights at football game all look the same.
  10. Not a fan of rewatching losses, but it’s awesome the NFL is foreshadowing our next two matchups.
  11. Pederson doesn’t seem to have head coach brains or leadership abilities. He comes a cross as a bit of a meathead.
  12. They could also pass those annoying vuvuzelas they used back in the World Cup.
  13. Tomlin did a great job giving the Browns momentum back with the dumb old school football logic on forth down.
  14. I praised Tomlin earlier, but these type of in game decisions are why some Steelers fans can’t take him anymore.
  15. True, but I was surprised they were letting the play clock go under 10 seconds when down 19 towards the middle of the third. If the Browns weren’t idiots and ran the ball more, the Steelers would need that time.
  16. I think the Browns stole Shanahan’s playbook from the Falcons Super Bowl loss to the Pats.
  17. There’s still an entire quarter left, but down 19 points in the playoffs is always a cause for more urgency. Extra time is always better in this situation. Ben’s out there strolling around like a guy making a weak attempt at hitting up the all you can eat buffet.
  18. Why are the Steelers showing so little sense of urgency to run plays in a speedy manner ?
  19. Baker is benefiting from all the things that once made a guy like Goff look like a decent QB.
  20. Al Michaels is like a band that becomes “legendary”, but really only has one great album. His “one great album” was the Miracle on Ice call.
  21. Mason Rudolph is the backup, correct ? If that’s the case, they know what they have, which is nothing.
  22. My hated of the Steelers begins and ends with Big Ben, everything else barely registers at this point.
  23. People love criticizing Tomlin. The Steelers wouldn’t even be close to 12-4 without him. He’s doing a lot with very little.
