IKR? This is from the NBC press release, which is hilarious in its gloating" https://nbcsportsgrouppressbox.com/2024/01/08/nbcuniversal-is-home-to-record-three-nfl-playoff-games-on-super-wild-card-weekend-including-peacocks-presentation-of-nfls-first-ever-exclusive-live-streamed-playoff-game/ "Among the distinctions for NBCUniversal: NBCU will be the first media company to serve as the home of three NFL Playoff Games in a single weekend (Saturday doubleheader and Sunday in primetime). Peacock will present thefirst-ever exclusive live streamed NFL Playoff game (Saturday at 8 p.m. ET). This follows Peacock’s first-ever exclusive live stream of a regular season NFL game on Dec. 23 (Bills-Chargers). Saturday night’s Peacock AFC Wild Card Exclusive – featuring Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Miami Dolphins — will once again feature a commercial-free fourth quarter similar to the Dec. 23 Bills-Chargers game. [...] The Peacock exclusive Wild Card game will be broadcast on NBC stations in the competing team cities, and available on mobile devices with NFL+. The NFL is the only sports league that presents all regular-season and postseason games on free, over-the-air television in local markets." [end quote] LOL: now is probably not the time to be saying: "The NFL is the only sports league that presents all regular-season and postseason games on free, over-the-air television in local markets."

We are not sure yet. EDIT: @RyanC883 nevermind, here is the press release: https://nbcsportsgrouppressbox.com/2024/01/08/nbcuniversal-is-home-to-record-three-nfl-playoff-games-on-super-wild-card-weekend-including-peacocks-presentation-of-nfls-first-ever-exclusive-live-streamed-playoff-game/ "Saturday night’s Peacock AFC Wild Card Exclusive – featuring Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Miami Dolphins — will once again feature a commercial-free fourth quarter similar to the Dec. 23 Bills-Chargers game."

Here is the counter-argument the NFL would use in support of paid streaming games: The difference between the past, when all games were OTA and free is they've added games on TV over the years so there didn't used-to-be: kickoff game TNF almost every week MNF double-headers some weeks 17 games a bye week, so more games can be watched many international games Thanksgiving evening game Black Friday game Christmas games some years this many Saturday games 14 playoff teams which created this extra game Compare the number of TV games to even just 10 years ago, never mind going further back.

This year, yes. In years where the rotation has two CBS or FOX games for WC weekend, not necessarily. We don't know the details of the future contracts. In 2021 there was 49ers-Cowboys on CBS in the WC round when CBS had two games, but that may change next season when CBS has two WC games. And for the divisionals, the four games will be on four different networks this year (and in the future): FOX, CBS, NBC, ABC/ESPN. So FOX and CBS are contractually guaranteed a game from their respective conferences, but for NBC and ABC/ESPN, it can be either, like always.

Crazy thought...would the 'Phins have played for the tie?
chongli replied to The Red King's topic in The Stadium Wall
If there were a tie, Buffalo would have been at KC on Peacock next Saturday. 😠 -
Yep, we had them four times this year (including three weeks in a row for us: Weeks 11, 12, and 14--bye on Week 13). We are 3-1 with them broadcasting: Week 4 vs. Miami (win) Week 11 vs. New York Jets (win) Week 12 at Philadelphia (loss) Week 14 at Kansas City (win) Also thanks for reminding me. I will post this in my OP.

Every time a team wins on SNF they put one of the team's players on that pic. There are three Bills there, since we won three times on SNF (vs. Giants, at Los Angeles Chargers, and at Miami): Josh Allen (middle), Stefon Diggs (top), and James Cook (middle)

Not necessarily. This year, the AFC and NFC can have their divisionals all on one day (like both AFC games on Saturday and both NFC games Sunday) since there are four networks involved: CBS, FOX, NBC, ABC/ESPN. (It used to be 1 NBC, 1 FOX or CBS, and 2 for the the one that was not FOX or CBS.) The NFL prefers a 4v5 for Monday, but it could have been a 3v6, for example. In that case, both same-conference games would have to be on one day (most likely on a Sunday to allow for better rest, but we don't know that for an absolute fact). ----------- Second (unrelated) post: I believe the Dolphins and Chiefs will be the first teams to play each other twice in a season with neither game being on an OTA channel outside of home markets (first game was on NFL Network in Germany and the second one is on Peacock).

Yeah, it is. The AFC South champion usually gets the lowest viewed Saturday late afternoon game, since the entire division consists of small markets. That slot is playfully dubbed the "Houston Texans Invitational". And the NFL apparently wanted a big name to force people to subscribe to Peacock Saturday evening...hence KC. They wanted to reserve the much coveted Dallas for late Sunday, the biggest rating window...so FOX had to get that one. And they had to throw CBS a bone, so they gave them Pittsburgh (a huge rating draw) Sunday early (FOX and CBS were set to have Sunday afternoon, the only thing to be determined was which network got what slot).

Agreed. He needs to stop posting his BS here and stop pretending to be a Bills fan.
