  1. Fair enough. I like Fowler's upside, but mainly don't want to allocate resources to Barr. I'd prefer they target one of the many pass rushers available. I don't think we'll be adding multiple big ticket defensive FA's, so I'd prefer a playmaker.
  2. It's clear we wanted AB. If he goes elsewhere for something 4 mil or so less than the 20 he's asking, I'd be inclined to think we got spurned by AB. There's no reason we can't outbid these other teams if it's more in the 15-16 mil range. Beane clearly wanted/wants Brown, so I don't see why we shouldn't stay involved.
  3. Not doubting you, but do you have a source? All I've heard is that he told Rosenhaus no dice to Buffalo, period. I would prefer your scenario.
  4. Age and fit. If I'm the Bills and I'm spending money in FA'cy, I'd much rather have a pass rusher than a solid OLB with 13.5 sacks and 1 INT in FIVE seasons. Barr is not the kind of difference maker the Bills should be targeting.
  5. Terrible fit IMO. The big need defensively is edge rusher, not a pure SAM who's never been a pass rush threat. Not interested. Fowler. Sign me up.
  6. That is my concern. We have a ton of cap space but my WORST case scenario would be that we're scorned by all our top targets. We are talking WORST case scenario here.
  7. That doesn't contradict anything I said. The fact is they weren't in salary cap "hell," especially if you just swapped Tyrod for a rook. I like the direction and I'm cautiously optimistic they'll make good decisions, but they didn't HAVE to gut the roster. They made a calculated decision that may pay big dividends. Time will tell.
  8. I disagree. I think the Bills NEED some pub. They're not a candidate this season, but I wouldn't mind it at all.
  9. I'm willing to give McBeane a shot at acquiring their guys, but this is simply not true. The only guy they probably couldn't afford to keep was Gilmore. They were also paying Tyrod like 15 mil. So you swap him out for the rookie QB of your choice and all of a sudden, you're perfectly fine cap wise. You can make a case that they didn't think these players fit their system, but the salary cap thing is a misnomer. Pretty much all the good teams are in cap "trouble" every year and simply wiggle money around.
  10. 7 mil for 4 sacks is underwhelming. Availability is the best ability. If you look at Murphy's contract, they gave him 5 mil up front and 2 mil for the season. They have an out clause that allows them to release him with only a 3.5 mil cap hit. They would be paying him 8 mil a year for the next two seasons. The cap is really not a concern, but if we upgrade the position in a serious way, I think he's a goner.
  11. Coen Brothers definitely want to make you THINK! Something very few films aspire to do these days. Explosions and sex are all the rage. I'll watch p*** if I want to see gratuitous sex.
  12. Gotta go with Javier. Dude just had too much guile for Brolin. Hell of a match-up though. I think people WANT to believe it was Brolin.
  13. The exclamation points should have been a dead giveaway. It's Saturday and I'm not drinking so my sarc meter is way off.
  14. Tim Euhus comes to mind but that was 16 years ago and didn't work out well.
  15. Ah. Found it. It was Contact from 1997. I forgive myself considering that movie is over 20 years old. I really thought he was blind!
  16. Never been into the comic/adventure movies. Always preferred either comedies or drama's that deeply explore the characters, but I'm weird like that. Definitely agree with the OP that most of the stuff coming out now is unwatchable.
  17. Which is part of the reason the tax issue is really overblown. It might be like a 1 percent factor in free agency, but I would highly doubt it's the deciding factor for many FA's. I would actually be surprised if it were a deciding factor for any player, but you never know. If you look at college football, most of the great prospects end up in the south and their income is under the table.
  18. I remember Fichtner playing a blind guy amazingly well, but can't remember the role. Also guilty of not knowing he was a Buffalonian.
  19. The last great movie produced was No Country For Old Men. TV wise, I mainly watch older sitcoms just to pass time. As far as music, there are a few artists I like, but mainly listen to older stuff.
  20. You also have to consider that Brees' window is slamming shut as we speak. They could very well look at this as a one-two year kind of thing and worth the risk.
  21. There is no comparison between Big Ben and Drew Brees in terms of character. Ben is the ringleader of that circus.
