I get that perspective and am hopeful something drastic happens but I don’t think it will. Since the Pegulas took ownership and hired beane as GM the value of the bills has, something like, doubled.

Think about it from a business perspective.

They’re not doing anything drastic with the new stadium opening next year imo.

Their elite defense gave up 12 points to our elite quarterback. Our pipsqueak defense gave up 23 to a backup quarterback. The elite defense seems preferable in the nfl.

So when we see what a good defense does to a good offense we think…our offense needs to be better. We can’t imagine how good our current offense would be with a defense like Houston’s, we can only imagine our offense being better.

Hey! Our middle of the road (at best) defense isn’t the reason we lose games. It’s our top of the league offense that’s Holding us back

The Marvin Lewis comp was something I looked at earlier this year. Feels like the same vibes.

It’s just a completely reasonable thought as a fan. The reality is that if it didn’t you would never think about it again but since it did you hold on to it. these types of plays happen all the time. Just look at any game thread as an example

I gave McDermott 10 games to do something with the talent at his disposal on defense this year and he hasn’t produced. He’s moved from a neutral impact to a negative impact in my estimation. I.e. he’s sliding from an average coach to a below average coach. he’s frankly been here too long by about 3 years.

I’ve been recording the games for a while now. Watch some games live but when it’s obviously going to be a stressful game I just don’t watch. I always pay attention to the score but refuse to let it occupy a full three hours. this team had all the talent but has zero idea how to dominate. McDermott plateaued years ago and is never going to get this team over the hump. He’s a small man and relies on cleverness, I stopped buying what he was selling. He stinks.
