IF Allen Tried to Force His Way Out of Buffalo...
CincyBillsFan replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall
Interesting thread. I just finished reading this take by Cowherd and came to 2BD: https://www.sportskeeda.com/nfl/news-colin-cowherd-pins-blame-sean-mcdermott-wasting-josh-allen-s-prime-buffalo -
I screamed at my TV so loudly they must have heard me.

Yes there were. In fact there was a lot more then a lot of fans want to acknowledge. Here's a couple: In 1991, the Bills best offense of the Super Bowl years lost at NE 16 - 13. The Bills were 10 - 1 and the Pats 3 - 8 when that game was played. Kelly threw 4 INT's. In 1992, the 5 - 2 Bills hosted the 0 - 7 Pats at Rich Stadium. At halftime the Bills were trailing 7 - 0 and Kelly had thrown 2 INT's. The fans booed the Bills off the field. I know this because I was at the game. The Bills came back and won it 16 - 7. In 1988, the 11 -2 Bills lost to the 3 - 10 TB Bucs at Tampa 10 - 5. The Bills trailed 10 - 2 late in the 4th quarter. A there are a lot more. For those that appreciate the history of the Bills I highly recommend Sal Maiorana's Relentless. This book as every box score from 1960 through the 1993 season. I'm just reacting to your comment which tells me you don't watch much football. Sure, I wouldn't call it a "good throw" but it wasn't a "crap throw" either I would call it GOOD ENOUGH. BTW, do you expect Allen to perfectly place the ball on every throw? When I watch KC I see a lot of over thrown & under thrown Mahomes throws being caught regularly. Kelsy alone has 3 - 4 per game.
-
What blueprint? Seriously in the NFL blueprints last about 1 game, maybe 2. Next week or the week after NE & Tampa will roll out the "blueprint" and Allen will be hot and smoke them. BTW, how did the blueprint work for the Giants on the Bills back to back TD drives in the 2nd half? They were what 180 yards, over 16 minutes TOP and put the Bills in the lead late? IMO it's to ate to fire Dorsey and as others have pointed out the results don't warrant him being fired. Shoudl the 49's bench Purdy or the Eagles bench Hurts after their terrible games yesterday? What about those offensive coordinators? If AFTER the season the offense struggles and production drops way down then you part ways with Dorsey. But right now when we're 4 - 2 and right in the mix of things? No way.

Who knows? The NFL has been crazy this year. I could see the Bills winning both games by several TD's each or losing one of those games and squeaking by in the other. Three weeks ago if you had said that the Bills would beat Miami by 28 points and barely scrape by the Giants folks would have thought you to be nuts. Actually that throw looked a lot like a lot of passes that I've seen caught in that same situation. And if you watched more football you would agree.
-
Based on the picture I saw Mahomes doesn't make that throw time after time. He was running hard to his left and his receivers were not helping out by coming back to the ball. Mahomes would have chucked that ball into the cheap seats.
-
Frankly I have no patience for these clowns who spout off about that. I just watched a lot of football this weekend and saw that catch and tougher ones being made all over the place. Now if it was the 1st quarter we could complain that Allen's throw didn't enable Knox to score because it was under thrown. But on that play you make the catch and the game is over. And to be fair to Knox his injury probably made that a much more difficult catch then it should have been.
-
But why would we expect Allen who is running to his left to see Cook who is 10 yards to his right? Can you imagine the body contortion and throw Allen would have to make? Allen is looking at 2 receivers who are in his line of sight, neither of which are working back to him. Now draw a straight line from Allen's head to the end zone. It's not reasonable to think Allen would spot Cook running that pattern.
-
I disagree. Yes the pass was under thrown but in the NFL and even college football that has to be caught. You can't expect Allen to make perfect throws on every play. He was 11/12 in the 2nd half with that being the only incompletion. I watched a lot of college & NFL games this weekend and I saw guys regularly making much harder catches.
-
This is a good point. I heard somewhere that teams that do not take the bye after their London game struggle big time the next week.
-
More then we might admit and that's on Dorsey. Two things stuck out to me: 1) Early in the game they mentioned that the Giants put NT directly on our center. This is unusual for them but it reflects DaBoll knowing that an undersized Morris struggles when a guy is pounding him all game. 2) On the INT and two other plays where an open receiver was there for the quick slant the Giants dropped a LB into that space. The thing I would like to know is how close to DaBoll's passing offense is Dorsey still running?
-
That's fair but also frustrating. I watched a lot of college and pro football this weekend and I saw a lot of catches like that and some even tougher ones being made.
-
It's a tale of two half's no? In the first half the O and Allen struggled a great deal. In the 2nd half they were surgical. Three possessions and 2 TD's on two very long drives. A 3rd possession and we just missed a game sealing completion on a nice call & play. Again the defense didn't lay as well as the score indicates. No TO's and they allowed the Giants to go on multiple long drives that while not yielding points took a lot of time off the clock and robbed the O of 2 and probably 3 more possessions.
-
I meant that had that been Knicaid and not knox he would have caught the ball. Doesn't knox have a hand injury to boot?
-
Kincaid makes that catch on the under thrown ball that would have sealed the win.
-
NFC sucks.
-
Good question. My guess is they won't. There is a weird hatred of Allen by a segment of the sports media. But IMO these INT's by Hurts were worse then the Allen INT's. And don't forget Hurts almost threw a 4th INT a couple of minutes ago.

Our next opponent….The NY Football Giants
CincyBillsFan replied to Beast's topic in The Stadium Wall
I get this sentiment. I really do and I suffer from it to. But the truth is that all Sunday night is about is winning. In the first half of the season it's about winning and moving on to the next game. Nothing more and nothing less. -
You mean like the 2nd half of last season when we repeatedly won close games against teams when we played unevenly? You mean the games like Detroit, Cleveland, the Jets at Rich Stadium, & the Dolphins playoff game that had some Bills fans complaining about bitterly on 2BD?
-
I hear you but taking that TO was bad, real bad. And Payton picked that D coordinator which is also not a good look for him.
-
What's almost as bad as Payton calling the TO is the lack of any comments by Herbie and Al as to WHY he did it. And given that the TO led directly to the FG it should have been a topic of discussion. And from what I can see the geniuses in the halftime show didn't comment on it either. What the hell.
-
That TO by Payton makes me think he's a worse coach then Hackett.
-
They called a TO that cost them 3 points. I have lost what little respect I had for Sean Payton. I'm not sure I've seen anything that stupid in the NFL before.
-
And that should have been Mahoomes 2nd pick. He threw what should have been an easy INT on that 1st drive.
