Eek. Rocket throw but Hawes should've caught that. -
Ok well again last year Cincy was the #1 passing offense and top 5 overall in points and missed the playoffs, so being a top offense does not mean championship. Also, last week Josh played poorly and we scored 40 points, so saying when Allen does well the offense does well isn't entirely true; if anything, it's more like we've rebuilt the offense such that it CAN do well even on days when Josh doesn't have it which we've seen more of this year. I agree we're probably not good enough to win at the highest levels. Missing on Keon, Samuel, and Palmer is rough, and I don't trust McD vs. the best QBs. I just don't know how we fix it at this point. We're cap committed all over the place and teams aren't just going to give us their #1 wr on a silver platter (if we could even fit them in in the first place). This team needs to figure things out with the guys they have.

I agree with Nephilim17's reply, and I'd add that we've made an intentional shift to multiple TE/HB offense which by default is going to de-emphasize boundary WR somewhat. That said, low returns on Keon, Samuel, and Palmer (and arguably even Shakir for what we extended him) means results are mixed at the very least. Injuries to Kincaid and Palmer haven't helped. But my original point was that we do in fact have a perception problem in addition to a (boundary) receiver problem because of the manner in which this stuff is being discussed (i.e. very agenda driven, lacking context from the standpoint of personnel groupings and offensive philosophy, and intentionally excluding discussion of our biggest investment in order to make a biased point.). This all comes back to people wanting to see Josh do well first and the team do well second. The whole dynamic reminds me so much of Lebron fans and it's getting really old fast.

Kincaid lines up in the slot and even out wide some (approx. 68% of his total snaps). When he's inside, he's still frequently running routes. There is not a huge difference in his case. But even if you want to insist on making this distinction without much of a difference, the reality is that he's still a significant part of the passing offense that Beane invested in, and he belongs in all these conversations about the passing game. Except, no one pushing the no receiving talent agenda ever acknowledges this and it's super disingenuous.
-
I agree with the general sentiment. For example, Kincaid for all intents and purposes is a WR and he was a 1st round investment in the passing offense, but this gets conveniently left out in all these agenda driven discussions about the receiving room. But with all that said, we do have an actual wide receiver problem and its because we've gotten low returns on our other big investments in Palmer, Samuel, and Keon.

I have a hypothesis re: Allen that checks a couple boxes

Getting pregnant doesn’t feel like the culprit unless he really didn’t want to. That said, I recall trying (and failing) to get pregnant with our second and that causing lots of emotional stress, especially with the miscarriages. Those were awful, and would cause anyone to have issues that bled into other parts of their life, especially depending how their wife handled it (not great in my case). -
So...just as a reminder wrt Panthers game... 1. Josh was essentially blaming himself in the post game presser for passing game struggles. 2. Bills media guys doing all 22 are pinning a lot of the struggles on Josh. I get everyone wants to blame the receivers, and they definitely deserve blame for what we've seen this year, but it's time for some on this forum to admit Josh has been subpar in a lot of these games. He needs to be better for this team.
-
My take is he is dealing with something and that's why he's had some uncharacteristically brutal throws the last few weeks. But he's also made more bad decisions this year usually trying to do too much. Then he reverts to 2019 only without the same athletic ability. He isn't playing with the same confidence.

Plausible X/#1 receiver trade candidates — are there any?

After the last few weeks, I'm starting to think it's not all on the receivers. Josh isn't always seeing them when they do get open, and when he does he's not accurate. -

I also wonder about this. He's had accuracy issues three games in a row. -
He might be able to come back for SB

To me the part that is most concerning is previous years we'd get gashed by certain teams while in nickel, and it was always frustrating because McD/Frazier wouldn't make any adjustments until at least halftime. This year we're coming out in base defense sometimes with 7-8 guys in the box and we're getting gashed by everyone. This is a new problem even though it feels like an old one, and it's bad.

Josh Allen led team that can score on you playing any way (run, pass, read option, scramble,..) Good luck outscoring us. Oline, RB, and TE groups are good to elite as units.
