Coleman shows up Allen on first TD target

It was a horrible throw that even the announcers picked up on. Surely Josh isn't above constructive criticism. -

I’m dismissing him because he obviously isn’t doing enough to stay on field. It takes Coleman being out for him to even hit 50%. if Cooper was playing like some world beater drawing extra coverage he’d be out there more often. -
We're used to teams having success running on us, but seeing average to below average QBs have their best days throwing on us is something we haven't typically seen in the McD era. Lots has been said about the Dline but there are problems at all three levels. Bernard looks like JAG. Dorian > Milano. Spector is unplayable. Taron Johnson looks mortal now. Douglas/Benford/Ingram/Elam have given up plays all year. Our safety play has ranged from OK to downright bad. Every time we plug a hole, a new one opens up. I thought Von was starting to come around. The last few weeks he's looked totally washed / ineffective. Oliver has his best game of the year (and first good game in weeks) vs. Lions, and then perhaps his worst game vs. Pats. There's no consistency. Every team deals with injuries. The problem with this group is it isn't even sure what it does well.

He's still behind Mack Hollins in snaps. This notion that teams are "rolling coverage" his way nonsense. Show me tape of something consistent. Cooper isn't even on the field enough for that to be true. -

Amari Cooper is quietly having very quiet impact and we should quietly decrease his snaps in the postseason and then quietly let him walk in the offseason. -
Fair enough. Oliver blew up the Lions Oline last week. But Pats pushed us back until we started sending more guys in the second half. It'd be nice to feel like you don't need to do that every week just to get a stop. This wasn't the Lions or Rams.
-
Given the way they're playing now, that would put both firmly on the downside of their careers because we've seen them play better for extended stretches.
-
We need to get healthier, and for guys like Oliver and Rousseau to step up more than one out of every 3-4 games.
-
Josh will get a pass for his stats because he got hurt in a cold weather game. He needs two strong games to win out and then he wins it as long as Lamar doesn't so something so impressive that he can't be denied.
-
We went back to looking like the less physically imposing team. No one wins SBs like that. And we're sloppy.

Hey, they have three timeouts left so they can kick away. Are we sure NFL teams are allowed to do that? -

This game aside, it's a sobering reality that Dorian Williams now appears to be our most reliable(only?) athletic contributor on defense. -
We showed in the first half vs Lions that when we're actually prepared to run stunts, well-disguised blitzes, mix up coverages, stack the box on early downs, etc., that this defense can still be effective vs. top offenses. The chicken little hyperbole being exhibited itt and other places around here wrt the defense and McBeane's inability to field a unit capable of being part of a SB winning team is a little much. Guess what? It's hard to stop great teams with 3rd string LBers and Safeties. It's tough sledding when you have to sign a former MLBer off the couch for a playoff run. I don't absolve McBeane for all the issues. Clearly, we haven't achieved expected return on our DLine investment. Scheme leaves something to be desired, especially late game with a lead including late game situational decision making by the HC. They've let the team down in important spots. We've also had the #2 (2019), #1 (2021), #2 (2022), and #4 (2023) scoring defenses the last six years, and we were trending toward top 5 again before these last two games. Bet we finish in the top 10 even though we've spent most of the year saving our best stuff, instead opting to play vanilla zone most weeks. If McD ***** up again in the playoffs, then I'll stop defending him. Some of you guys need to cut down on the hyperbole though.

Week 16 - Patriots at Bills Game Week Thread (Game at 4:25pm ET)
VW82 replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Classic let down game coming off a big win. We'll still win because it's the Pats and we're at home and we're waaayy better, but this could be a potential points grab after the public eventually bets it up into the high teens. -
No. Only Josh Allen is allowed to receive praise. He did it all by himself. See numerous threads on this forum post W complaining as such.

McDermott deserves praise for JA’s career year
VW82 replied to RoscoeParrish's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cooper isn't a long-term answer but was an investment in winning this year. Keon was a long-term investment, and getting overly specific about WRs makes my point. We have a very good Oline, and one of the deepest and most talented RB and TE rooms in the L. We rushed for almost 200 yards today. It was the definition of a balanced attack. Everyone was involved. Edit: internet is giving Joe Brady his flowers. That's at least part credit to McD who hired him. -

OPer makes a good point. Many around these parts have been complaining forever about our lack of investment in receivers and badmouthing McD for wanting a balanced O and more complimentary football. This Bills offense is so successful because it's more than just about Allen. -
It got ugly at the end with all the injuries and classic McD prevent after we went up 21, but lots to like before that vs. top offense in the L. Rams game was the low point but it feels like Bills D is trending up! Edit: if anything, we should be talking about Elam and Bishop. I thought both played reasonably well today, especially Elam.
