  1. Brandon has been building a roster to beat the Chiefs for 5 years. Sadly these postseason losses look eerily similar. No answer for Mahomes when undersized D-lineman keep giving up the edge and little pressure from our front four. We are able to score because our offense is hard to defend but our secondary is pedestrian and lets us down every time. Why is Elam here? Bishop is not physical enough and hurts us when he plays. Hamlin is a good story but he’s been ordinary. Sean is loyal to a fault and between Beane's defensive personnel decisions and our defensive game planning, I’m starting to doubt whether we can get past the Chiefs or an Eagles team that would have dominated our defense.
  2. Greg got cut by the tackle on every 3rd down passing play and was giving the edge. He killed us and had no pressure. Might be a problem making a long term commitment to him.
  3. Poor Dalton is too soft for winning football. He should have caught the ball to save that game and like on many occasions he shrinks in big spots. We thought he was a difference maker but he doesn’t want it bad enough. Shakir, Collin’s, Cook and Ty Johnson are dependable, winning players. He may develop into something, but he was a disappointment this year. He wasn’t worth a first round selection.
  4. If they’re able to limit Kelce for the first time in 4 games, it will go a long way to winning. I don’t think Mahomes trusts Brown, Smith-Shuster or even DHop downfield when he starts running around. Look at how many receptions the other receivers had against Houston.
  5. The most important aspect of game planning for a talented defensive unit is being unpredictable. My prediction is we start out establishing the short underneath passing game and then incorporate Cook, Ty on 3rd down and Josh with designed runs. This game demands Josh being a threat to break the pocket to force spies and people to account for him. Josh must take vertical shots also to keep a safety protecting deep. This game will come down to special teams, turnovers and limiting Mahomes running and Kelce on broken plays.
  6. When your strength is creating TOs and you understand turnovers decide these games, naturally the expectation is to win the turnover battle. This defense held Henry to 86 yards and 16 carries and Lamar to 6 carries. That’s what the Ravens do best. They were victimized by an MVP QB who runs around to allow a receiver to come open and they did that to all their opponents this season. The incredible defense in the first half won us the game.
  7. Sounds like a guy who doesn’t watch the games much. How many receivers and backs does he chase down. He’s the most physical corner we have and has a nose for the ball. Did you see how much time Lamar had to throw in the second half? That’s why his no name receiver came open on their last drive. Andrews like Kelce find little open areas and Lamar just runs around until they come open. We’re not playing for the AFC Championship without Johnson. Who’s next on your “major liability list” Shakir?
  8. Can’t criticize Sean for this game. The FG was a no brainer. You go for it on 4th down and miss with 3min and change left even from the 2 yd line, you’re asking to have them stick it in your ear with Lamar. He scored from the 20, with so much time to throw and even if they get the conversion, we get the ball back with plenty of time to win. More importantly, the defensive game plan neutralized Henry and Lamar got turned over twice. We didn’t have to ask Josh to be a superhero and throw the ball all over the place. Good game for Sean and Babich.
  9. The HC is the final word on instructions to a kicker. If he entrusted Farwell, whoever he is, instead of telling Bass himself, and Bass never got the call, it’s on the HC. It’s more than the kickoff though, why was Hill and Kelce allowed to get free releases and be wide open with 13 seconds left. Even if you tackled the primary targets and got holding penalties the game is over or they have a Hail Mary with 6 seconds left. Any defensive coach worth keeping is better prepared for that situation and Sean knows it.
  10. Detroit had no defense with all their injuries. It was a great season but against top competition their offense couldn’t afford turnovers and bad penalties. Their window is still open.
  11. I know they’re missing 2 good receivers and the O-line is dinged up but he has regressed from his rookie season. You can’t mindlessly stand back there, in a close game where your defense has played their guts out and take sack after sack. You’re demoralizing your team. His understanding of field position and situational awareness is really poor. Other than the Charger game, where Herbert didn’t come to play, Stroud was disappointing as a leader and a game manager for the last 6 weeks. Remember his defense lead the league in sacks and they had two great corners. After last season many thought with Stroud, the Texans would compete for the SB. After this season, I think they go backwards.
  12. Please don’t tell me Stroud is a QB you can win with. If Herbert didn’t gag all over himself again, he would have been dispatched last week. How many sacks can a QB take in the plus side of the field. How does Slowick not prepare this raw kid for these blitz packages. Doesn’t he give him a hot receiver to save his ass?. Only my team can have Fairborn kick a 60 yd FG to stick it in our ear and then never make an important kick again. Their defense is good but why is Kelce so wide open on 3rd downs? Throw in some mindless roughing calls and Houston should really feel like they could’ve pulled off an upset.
  13. Not saying the officiating is corrupted but these marginal calls all for KC is a bad look for the league. Both roughing penalties were bad and couple that with terrible special teams and you have a loss. A couple of off sides and offensive holding calls were not called on KC but teams can’t extend drives with bad roughing calls on 3rd down.
  14. Edmunds is playing now in a system that makes him more aggressive in the blitz packages and he is bringing it in the run game. With his length and physicality, look for more big, impactful plays.
  15. Hodgins looked good vs the Colts, but can we see him produce in a real game against starters before we anoint him as a member of our receiver corp. I’m rooting for him because he’s had challenges but we need a consistent, clutch, durable player to replace Cole.
  16. The 2 areas of concern for me are O-line and corner. The O-line will have new pieces at guard(Saffold in his mid30s) and Quissenberry at multiple positions. Ford is still there and he doesn't impress anyone. At corner Elam will be a solid contributor, but it might take him a while and Tre is coming of an ACL. Is Dane Jackson ready to cover the kind of receivers we will face in the first 7 games? This is where Sean will have to piece it together. Maybe Taron Johnson gets more involved or we use more zone coverages. These are my ?s.
  17. I couldn't stomach him for many years but wrote it off as being a frustrated victim of the dominance he presided over us. Also, Belichick muzzled him in the few interviews he gave. Now his giant ego can't be controlled by anything a coach, GM or owner wants to avoid as bulletin board material. I know this, anyone who witnessed his sickening act and the constant deferential sucking up by cast and crew at TNT must admit this guy is a nasty squirrel in a little lord Fauntleroy outfit.
  18. Just wanted to express how impressed I was with Josh. He was honest and respectful towards the other three and showed class at all times despite having a challenging round. Brady, on the other hand, has become a superior minded, repugnant, humorless jerk who gets off on showing the world how great his life is and much better he is than anyone who dares to compete with him. I will root hard against him and any endeavor he pursues going forward. His career is unmatched but he is a detestable, 45 year old megalomaniac, who wants to insult others to show how cool he is.
  19. Totally agree. The NFL did nothing about CTE for 40 years, now they're committed to wiping out antihistamines not on the approved list. Makes total sense.
  20. Don't expect much from Josh/Mahomes vs Rodgers who's by far the best of these four. This should motivate Josh to exact revenge when it counts.
  21. Wow, that analysis was brilliant, far better and more insightful than the beat writer hacks could assemble. I'm not sold on Stevenson's ball security or pass catching skills until I see it for an extended period. He also seems slight.
  22. Thanks for naming the who's who of dbs in the NFL. Sadly they represent the tiny % of corners that overachieved in their rookie deal.
  23. What rookies do you have in mind? Just curious about the funky cottage cheese reference when you come up with zero examples. Maybe your silly, unfounded assertions work with the poor souls that need anything positive about their favorite team. Not objective Bills fans. Not saying Elam can't be dominant. ,, just not expecting it year one. If it happens the defense will not be so dependent on White being White immediately.
  24. OK, expecting quality corner play from a rookie usually comes from fans who don't realize there's a learning curve in the NFL. Tell me about getting everything out of depth dbs when they got lit up by KC with everything on the line. Love your optimism though.
  25. If he's only average, Beane better get some veteran depth because the thought of Jackson and the rookie against the receiving corps on our schedule(Miami,LA, Minn., Cleveland, Pittsburgh and KC etc) doesn't inspire confidence.
