Alone (History Channel) Thursdays at 10PM
Soda Popinski replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It depends, if you can get food, you crave the human contact, if you're not getting food, you crave food. I think it's basic human nature to long for what they don't have rather than appreciate what they do. But IMO it's always food, then lonliness. Depending on the individual, some start blubbering the minute you drop them off. Me, i watch Castaway and wonder why the hell he left the island. Peace, quiet, fishing what more could you want. -

I've watched every season, this one is by far my favorite. -
Does good customer service still exist?

I had one i bought for the grill, then i bought another for the turkey fryer I never use. She got one from complaining and then I bought a grill 2 months ago that came with a freebie. They're probably all empty now -

If I need something I don't go to Home Depot, I send the wife. I could wander around that dump for hours, but if she walks in, 4 guys ask if she needs anything getting out of the car. Same with Ace Hardware, I stood at the paint counter for 30 minutes waiting for help. She walked in and immediately got help. so she complained because I stormed out of there and got a free propane tank. You don't know true wealth until you look in your garage and you've got 3 spare propane tanks. That's what rich is. -

Alone has been pretty good this year. All the contestants are people from previous seasons. One guy is shooting grouse and squirrels. I've enjoyed watching that show this year more than the other ones. -

There is an entire sub culture of professional complainers, we were in Carrabbas for my son's birthday and it was half off appetizers but in the bar only, so the girl behind us and her bf made a huge stink at the end of the meal and talked about how their food took forever and all, which was complete BS we were getting our salads, apps, etc right along with them and the timing was perfect, but you have to complain about something to get it for free. manager comped their drinks and apps. Really makes me irritated because I have run a restaurant and it's amazing how many people are just looking for something for free. And how absolutely stupid people can really be. Case in point we had $2 pints. seems like a good deal right? But no, people wanted 2 for 1 drafts and they whined and whined and whined for 2 months about how they want their 2 for 1 happy hour blah blah blah. Alrighty, you asked for it. We bought 10oz beer mugs, and racks for the dishwasher for them. Raised the price to 3.95 a draft and sold you 2-10oz beers that were at least 1oz head for $3.95. Instead of getting a 16oz pint for $2 bucks, they fought to pay an extra $1.95 for 3oz of beer "but served in two glasses, so you know i'm getting a better deal". Morons. -

Just make sure you write down the supervisor's information too. That way when you call back you can ask for them specifically. -

If you're trying to file a claim with an insurance company, an hour on the phone going in circles is just the beginning of the foreplay. Prepare for many more hours of frustration, threatening to get an attorney, going back and forth and getting no where. Advice is write down every single person's name you talk to, they hate it when you can recall who you spoke to and at what time. Also write down what the conversation was about. take notes. Then ask to be escalated, ask for a manager, a supervisor, anything. but move up the chain. -

This show is worth it just for the locations alone. You see Alaska and Montana. It all comes down to them trapping and battling the elements. I watch it every season. -
I am so sorry man. I'd hug you if i could. We put ours down last month after 14+years. I cried like a baby. My wife still tears up, hell my son...we can't even bring up Bear around him but he chokes up. He was 2 when we got him, they were best friends.

Hell no! I got fixed in October 2002, my son was born that June. My parents had 6, not in this lifetime. Not at 40. I couldn't survive. have her babysit. That usually wears em out. -

Man it does, but at 15 you can't tell her anything. It's just a waste of breath. She hung out with kids who did bad stuff, but her grades never slipped. They want to take bad friends and reform them, that's not how it works, the bad kids drag them down. But you can't tell them that they have to discover it for themselves. I know how frustrating that is, but once they figure it out, and they get their heads on straight it's like a 1000lb weight off your shoulders. -

Ehh, I haven't found that to be 100% true. I mean when my daughter was in high school and went through the phazes yea, that was tough. It was really tough. But her moving off to college was the best thing that could have happened. She's really impressed me. Working 40hrs a week, school fulltime, and her and her BF have an apartment. I remember the wife and her were both terrified to tell me she was moving in with him. I shocked them both. I didn't care as long as she was mature, and she's proved that 100 times over. The boy, hell all he wants to do is play COD or whatever other shoot em up game he has on Xbox 1. He likes to hunt/fish with me and we went scalloping last Saturday. I haven't had much in the way of big problems with him at all. He's ostracized at school because all his buddies drink and smoke weed and he won't. So he doesn't hang out with anyone outside of school. kind of sucks but he sticks to his principles. -

Well the daughter is probably going to stay in south FL that's where she has a great job opportunity. We're 210 miles away. But I can already see the wife selling the house now to move closer. She knows my conditions. Not closer than 35 minutes away. And within 15 miles of a good boat ramp on the inter coastal. If Gpa is gonna live nearby, Gpa's gonna have an offshore fishing boat
