They did make some moves to help out the secondary and LB corps in free agency. Mainly John Johnson and Troy Hill should help that secondary, add in the possibility of adding an LB early in the draft and I think they can for sure make some noise in the AFC.

That, and the last 2 2nd rounders were secondary players that missed all of last year.

Delpit was the Thorpe award winner in 19, and Greedy Williams was decent as a rookie the year before.

  2. I quit using Walter Football a couple years ago when it was proven a ton of their "scouting" reports were copy and pasted from other various sites.

And their "updated" mock draft is talking about whether the Jets will draft Wilson or stick with Darnold.

Amari Cooper has never cracked 1200 yards in a season. Stefon Diggs had over 1400 last season.

Ceedee Lamb had 935 yards last season. Cole Beasley had 967.

Michael Gallup had 843 and 5 TDs. Gabriel Davis had 599 and 7 TDs.

Then Buffalo has McKenzie, who caught 5 TDs, and Sanders, who had 726 yards and 5 TDs.

Dallas' group has the POTENTIAL to be the best. Based on actual proven PRODUCTION in the NFL, though, and taking top-to-bottom depth into account? I'm going Buffalo.

Dallas also played with Andy Dalton for most of the year, and Lamb was also a rookie.

    1. Congratulations on your metamorphosis.
    2. You are comparing apples to oranges. You are comparing yourself at 12/13 and how you finished at 17/18. Those are absolute key years in physical development for a man, assuming what you are telling us is even accurate.
    3. in that picture Watt is already in college. Hes a man. Hes already reached his growth spurt, for the most part.
    4. looking at the pictures he tripled in size, all while maintaining speed, agility and minimal body fat.

NFL training facilities and coaching staffs are elite. However, they are unable to turn water into wine. Watt is likely paying the price now later in his career bc his body is clearly breaking down. Yes, this is all conjecture by me.  Its an educated guess based on what we know about sports and how theyre littered with PEDs.

You understand that Watt changed positions in college right? Went from a TE to a DE. Also, having offseasons where your entire job is basically to be in shape tends to lead to these guys being in insane shape.

It's possible some of these guys are on something, but just because they're big didn't mean they are.  And it's a bold claim when your only evidence is the "eye test."

NFL training facilities and coaches are one thing - tripling in size in 10yrs has nothing to do with either.

i dont care if players use PEDs, since im sure its more common than is let on by the NFL.

That's a terrible argument. In high school, I was 135lbs at 6' as a sophomore. By my senior year, I was 215lbs and pretty muscular. I didn't do a diet regimen, but I did start lifting some, not any extreme amount.

Also, Watt was a TE in high school and at CMU. He transferred to Wisconsin and moved to the DLine, which is asking for a different body type.

I'm not saying steroid use is impossible in the NFL, but you can't make the statement that it's rampant and then literally have no evidence back it up other than to say it's well known.

Very true, Armstrong like Watt is/was a dick, and all about the money and fame, and pro PED use, during both of their entire careers. The difference is that the pro cycling world looks at Armstrong as a pariah, even though his competition was doping just as much as he was,  the football world on the other hand loves them some PED users, always has always will.

You have any evidence of this at all? Claiming the NFL, who has a pretty strict testing policy, loves PED users? And also hinting that Watt uses PEDs?

sure there is. Give Watt a 3 year deal, small base salary. Upfront signing bonus in year 1 . Bam low salary cap number , big signing bonus, easily cuttable year 2 and 3. Minimal impact on this years salary cap

The thing is, Watt has to agree to the contract as well. I know it happens to a lot of guys already under contract, but I don't think ribs of guys at the tail end of their careers are going to sign up for deals that make them very easily cuttable.

I know you’re not going to believe this, but I know someone who is directly related to a Browns player and said they’ve been told Baker is extremely me first.

What does that mean, "directly related?" An actual relative? A friend?

I'm going on everything I've seen firsthand. Games. Training camp.  Even hearing John Dorsey, the same dude who was a big part of drafting Mahomes, say a big thing they loved about Mayfield was how much his teammates loved and gravitated to him.

Players don't typically love players who don't care about the team.

Oh stop, your ridiculous Cleveland bias is showing.  OBJ screams "look at me", from his hair, his time at NY, to his complaining about targets.  When you say Mayfield is the furthest from me first that there is - are you seriously trying to put him in the same class as J Allen - because he's not in the same stratosphere.

Not only has Garrett had at least one issue (remember the feable lie he followed that up with when he tried to play the race card?).  Also the organization made a mockery of the "Man of the Year" award by giving Cleveland's designation to that degenerate.  Watt can't be pleased by that.

No one but Rudolph, Garrett and the NFL know what was said. Weird that the audio was lost for that play only. Garrett was beyond dumb with the helmet, but his off the field work speaks for itself.

OBJ has a bad rap, some of it deserved, but just saying most "me first" players aren't great teammates. OBJs teammates love him.

Also, who said a word about Allen. Mayfield is a great teammate. All the way around. He celebrates just as much when his teammates score or make big plays as he does when he makes the play. What makes him a bad teammate?

Allen is a better QB as of today. That's got nothing to do with Mayfield being a "me first" player as you claim. What makes you say that? And how is Mayfield different than Allen as a teammate?

What do you think Watt's range is then?  I thought the leak of Cleveland was to put out there that Watt is looking for good money.  It's not just between - Pitt, GB, KC, the Bills and maybe Tampa.

And while I believe Clev is a decent team, it didn't seem a culture fit.  Baker, OBJ are me first, M Garret had big issues.  K Hunt is a talented dirt bag.  Watt has worked hard on his team first, competitive image - floating out the consideration of playing with the me-first weirdos in Cleveland screams payment is a bigger factor than I previously thought.

It's amazing that you know OBJ and Mayfield are "me first." OBJ has that rep, but from the media only. His teammates love him. And Mayfield is the furthest from me first that there is. Watch his reactions when his teammates score.

Garrett had 1 issue, albeit a major one, but his entire history has been of a great guy and teammate.

Right, but when your prevent defense let’s them back in the game you’ve done something wrong. Just like the Bills did against the Rams in week 3.

Again, the Steelers had the ball at midfield at the end of the third down 12 points having just scored back to back and having forced the browns off the field three straight times. If the Steelers score instead of punting it’s a different game. Again- a huge if and it doesn’t matter cause it didn’t happen. This is the point:

The Browns win can be directly associated with 5-6 mistakes made by the Steelers. Some of them were good plays by the browns (the tipped interception, and the first interception was a good catch, but more or a terrible throw), but several of them were just horrible plays by the Steelers. The fumble to start the game, the interception where Ben just threw it to the air and the browns guy was there. The decision to punt. The dropped pick six late in the game.

all of this works together to create what I would define as an implosion by the Steelers, which is where this digression began.

Right, prevent defense shouldn't let them back in the game but it typically does make it a lot closer. That's why I hate it. When you have momentum like that it is very hard to turn it off and then turn it back on when you need to.

  12. 1 hour ago, whatdrought said:

Prevent means you aren’t as aggressive - not that you let the other team back in the game.

The browns offense gained 4 yards in the third as the Steelers scored twice. If they don’t kick on 4th and 1 (which was horrible, and representative of the Steelers implosion) it could have gone differently. Not saying it would have - but it could have.

Prevent defense is designed to trade time on the clock for yardage by preventing big pkays. You obviously don't want them to score but with a 28 point lead if you can milk 5-7 minutes off the clock and they end up scoring that's a net gain. The ticket is the offense having to continue to milk the clock and hopefully at least score field goals as well.

It seems nobody is taking into account either that Cleveland was missing its head coach and had a brand new offensive play caller for this game. The offense did struggle in the third quarter but very rarely do teams stay hot on offense for an entire game.

Cleveland is by no means a perfect team. Their offense has the potential to be very very good especially with the running game. The defense has a lot of room for improvement but already has cornerstone pieces with Garrett and Ward. They were also missing an early second round safety and their number to corner for the entire season. They also installed completely new offensive and defensive systems in a season with no off season. the team struggled the first half of the Year while learning the system on the fly, but look at the differences towards the end of the year especially on offense.

It took 5 turnovers (one for a touchdown), one of the worst punt decisions of the season (matched by Stefanski the next week) and a dropped pick six for the Browns to win by 11. That’s not a dominate win. Its not to take away from them- a win is a win and I don’t care how it happens. But the Steelers absolutely imploded.

As you said - they led by 28 at halftime, but it ended up being a two score game.

Because they played prevent defense for the entire second half. Most teams would in that situation.

Like I said in a previous post, I think it's stupid when teams do that. Keep playing the way you were playing to get where you were. But a vast majority of teams with a 28-point lead will soften up and trade yards for time off the clock.

Pittsburgh gave Cleveland the ball 4 times on it’s first 5 drives in their own territory and it was still a two score game late in the second half.

Cleveland capitalized on the opportunities given to them, but it’s not like they did anything extraordinary. A fumbled snap to start the game has nothing to do with Cleveland and Ben staring down his receivers and forcing throws doesn’t either.

I understand it was a huge monkey off the Browns backs to beat Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh but that game was more Pittsburgh imploding than Cleveland dominating.

If it was Buffalo playing that way it would have been Buffalo "making plays and forcing turnovers."

Cleveland obviously needs to improve on defense mostly, but they were opportunistic with turnovers all year. It was a two score game late because like most other teams up that big they played a lot more prevent defense. I think it's stupid that teams do that but it's the nature of the game.

Not trolling, just honestly asking this question:

    Did you watch that game?

Obviously. The first play touchdown was kind of a fluke play. The interceptions, the long touchdown pass to Landry, and Chubb and Hunt running all over them weren't flukes by any means.

They had one of the lowest strength of schedules, they got blown out by two division rivals at various points, and they struggled consistently throughout the season to win games against mediocre competition.

Their QB is limited, and their defense has several holes.

If anything, they’re the 2019 Bills, with a worse defense.

Not to say they cant take a step, but they’re overrated and they were very uninspiring in the playoffs- it took a Pit implosion for them to win that, and then they lost to the chiefs backup QB on one of the worst coaching decisions I’ve ever seen.

They have talent, but they’re clearly in the second tier of the AFC.

A Pitt implosion? You're kidding, right? I guess going up 35-7 in the first half had nothing to do with Cleveland.
