  1. Not sure of the "he" this is referring to, but if the "he" is me, then 'bama born and bred. that could be true
  2. I will turn in my southern english diploma post haste. More southern english --y'all= you + all , ya'll = you (collective)+will (ex. If ya'll come over tonight, I'll cook cornbread.)
  3. LOL. I was more looking for (hypothetically, of course): If Mariota is and has been your QB for the last 4 years, with the same stats/results that he has put up for the titans, would billsmafia be satisfied that he is the "franchise QB" for the next decade? Would you trade 12, 22, and next year's 1st for Marcus Mariota? So much this! I tried bringing this up to my Titan's fanatic friends, and they will not have any of it. He is the franchise and that's that.
  4. Just to give you something different to discuss than draft strategy and which QB to pick. Having grown up in Alabama most everyone that was a pro football fan was either Falcons or Saints. I, for some mysterious reason, fell in love with the 'Fins. Marino, Mark Duper, Mark Clayton, SB '84, Shula, etc. After Marino retired, I quit following the team and focused mostly on 'Bama football. However, I moved just South of Nashville 10 years ago, and although I have reeealllly tried to become a Titans fan, even went to a few games, they really make it hard to like them. Very hohum roster after Mcnair, no blockbuster draft picks, few competitive teams, etc. Folks around were crazy about drafting the "franchise" Marcus Mariota, and still think he is the best thing since Mcnair. He is a very likeable guy, says the right things, involved in the community, and is seen as a great leader according to what I 've read about him...but I am not sure I see him as a championship caliber QB...someone who can put the team on his shoulders and win it with his arm. So, for those willing to do "whatever it takes" to land one of the kids in the draft, would you give up the same for Mariota? The Titans just picked up his 5th year. In the previous 4 years, he has 1 playoff appearance and an 88.6 % QBR. Is this "franchise"?
  5. He graded almost 2 full points higher than Darnold, yet there are people who are willing to pay a super high price for the chance to draft him...how come? I am genuinely curious. Overall Grade 7.97 OVERVIEW Locker decided to return for his senior season and his erratic performance has certainly hurt his draft stock. An extremely gifted athlete, Locker's production does not match his talent. He possesses a cannon for an arm, but he is not an efficient passer. At this point, his greatest asset is his athleticism and it is unclear if he will ever be a starting quarterback at the next level. Also, Locker has a history of injuries due to his aggressive style of play. Overall, Locker has all the physical tools and a team will likely take a chance on him in the first round despite his inconsistent production. Overall Grade 6.19 Overview Josh Rosen's footwork and mechanics make him as pretty a quarterback as you will find in this year's draft. The biggest concern with Rosen is that his on-field success requires many elements to stay on schedule. He lacks plus arm strength, so identifying coverage (pre- and post-snap) and throwing with anticipation takes on added importance. Rosen has the pocket poise, accuracy and intelligence to become a good NFL starter, but he needs to be willing to take what defenses give him more frequently. Rosen will need to quell concerns surrounding leadership and coachability early on in order to establish a strong first impression and get his career off on the right foot.
  6. Yet those "franchise guys" you salivate over don't have even one...BTW, those are All AJ's, the other guys have their own Serious question, would you rather have a "scrub" QB and championships, or a stud-of-the-moment "franchise" guy and no championships? When was the last Bills franchise QB? Kelley? How many SB titles? I am just busting yall's chops. I really do hope ya'll find a QB who can be elite and win some Championships. Maybe AJMac plays well enough in training camp to earn the starting job, and yall's respect and appreciation. If not
  7. A placeholder that maybe can get you some championship rings!
  8. reuben Foster , cj mosely ,donta hightower, reggie ragland, rolando mcclain, mark barron...can't think of any more recently. Wow what a mixed bag. Mosely and Hightower =all pro caliber Reggie Ragland= I feel he will turn out to be a pretty good pro in the right system Barron= was drafted as a ss, has thrived as a linebacker for the rams Rolando Mcclain= could have been a dominate linebacker, but too big of a thug Reuben Foster=Could be all pro like mosely, could be a thug like mcclain R. Evans= Who knows. Seems to be a high character guy, so maybe at least he won't go the way of Mcclain.
  9. Done. Save your picks, Build a talent laden roster (Dominating D, solid O-line and running game) around AJMac and watch the wins pile up. Hey, worked for Saban! In all seriousness, would Bills fans take a guy like Flacco, for the next 12 years, if it meant getting to the playoffs in 8 of those years, including making it to 2 divisional title games and 1 SB appearance?
  10. But even a once- in- a-generation guy like Luck, who the Dolts tanked a season to get, hasn't instantly transformed that franchise...even when healthy they weren't a perennial power.
  11. I remember watching Jamarcus Russell's pregame warm up in college. He would throw the ball 65 yards from his knees, using nothing but his hips/shoulders...
  12. While I agree that QB is the most important position on the field at any level of football, I don't agree that great QB's are a prerequisite for success. (At 'Bama, we don't even call 'em quarterbacks...they are called game managers ...and boy do we sure win a lot with them) Some of the more memorable "mediocre" QB's that have CB Champion under their name: Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Jeff Hostetler, Joe Flacco, Jim Mcmahon, etc) You can win the superbowl with great defense and supporting cast. Heck, Peyton Manning struggled to throw the ball 20 yards a couple years ago in the super bowl, but he was crafty and had a great defense. When you look at that list along with the 1st round qb busts such as : Josh Freeman, Mark Sanchez, Matt Leinert, , joey harrington, tim couch, byron leftwich, david carr, Cade mckown, jamarcus russel, Johnny manziel, etc. its not hard to see why some would be hesitant to support trading a bunch of quality picks for a QB who very few agree is a once in a generation player such as andrew luck. It seems to me the argument is valid from either view point. If you believe the best way to build a championship team is to go all in on a franchise qb, go get him (although it hasn't exactly worked out for INDY, even when Luck was healthy). If you believe you can win with great defense and average QB play, keep those picks. Not hard to guess which one I believe in. Defense and a dominating ground game. Drew Brees has been setting passing records for the last several years with a middling team. Last year they committed to the run, Brees took a backseat somewhat, and the team was much improved, IMO.
  13. Yup... These two posts I don't understand. Please edumacate me. What if the following scenario plays out: Bills get their man and draft ________(Fill in the blank). He looks good in camp, but not good enough to beat out AJMac or Peterman , one of whom gets the start, and goes on a tear, lets say starts the season 6-2. DO you still bring in the starter who has had 8 weeks of 2nd string reps, just so you can say you are bringing in your 1st round draft pick??? Let's take it a step further and say your starter, AJ/Peterman gets you to the AFC Championship game and is top 10 in most NFL QB stats, Do you look to shop him to other teams after the season, so your "franchise" can start the next year? Why? Why get rid of a Top 10 QB for a younger kid who may just as well bust as be any good? You are going to have the rookie contract for four years on the cheap. Is it a true competition those four years? Do start a Peterman over Rosenif he beats him out each preseason? Why or Why not? Again, All hypothetical and maybe not likely, but interesting none the less.
  14. Interesting scenario. It seems in my limited understanding, that draft position and money spent are more important than results. Nick foles just beat freaking belichek and Brady in a super bowl...is there ANY chance that there is an open competition if wentz is healthy? I just don't get it....
  15. couple questions... 1) do teams look at the draft positions and returning players of teams in their divisions, And does it play into draft strategy? 2) if most on here believe the wr Corp and oline will be subpar, is there a qb in the draft good enough to nullify that? Didn't Eli threaten to sit out a year if the chargers drafted him because the supporting cast was not good enough? 3) how far ahead do teams look when planning draftees? Bama has a phenom sophomore, as does georgia, another great sophomore just transferred from Georgia to Washington. I'm sure several other college teams have potential Josh Rosens on their roster. Does that play into a draft strategies this far in advance? This draft strategy is some interesting stuff!
  16. I forgot about Allen...should have included him because he would come in at 6.5 (I think) That would have been a good range (6.1-6.5)... Well played!
  17. Well at least he would have some championships :0 I agree with your sentiment though. AJMac is a great guy and may be a great QB, and I imagine the same can be said for Mayfield, Rosen, Darnold, et al. Bills will be a team I pull for regardless of what happens with the draft. Discussion forums are meant to be fun and informative, I think. My apologies for the annoyance.
  18. Don't know that it is an Alabama thing. Did he defend or say anything good about Marcel Dareus or Cyrus K.? I won't. But our NFL QB drought at Bama has been loooong.
  19. HA! I know that is the truth! A- Jameis Winston B-Sam Darnold c-Josh Rosen d-Maker Bayfield e-AJMac Just thought it was interesting how close their measurables were. Maybe where the term "prototypical" comes from?
  20. I agree his arm kept them in games. Also, my point that you can find 400 yard games by pretty much every qb in the big 12 on any given week. Heck RGIII flung it all over the field. It's a little different when you play against equal defensive talent. No way that I believe he, or Darnold, have anywhere near the numbers they have playing in B10/SEC/ACC
  21. Do you know how many attempts he had when he was throwing for over 400 yards? Genuinely curious. Hard to believe those number come from a balanced offensive attack, likewise not terribly impressive if you are throwing it 50 times per game...
  22. Breathes air and drinks water??? That's it. He MUST be a franchise QB. Doggone it let's do whatever it takes to trade up and get him. Heck a prospect like this only comes along once in a generation!
  23. hmm, sorry mate, looks fine on my laptop?
