  1. There is a world of difference between a 16 year old high school superstar and an average college player, and there is a world of difference between a 20 year old college superstar and a 27 year old average pro player. Somewhat relevant: For several years I was the head trainer at the largest high school in alabama. Two years straight we finished in the top 5 in USA Today High school football rankings. The year I left we had 11 players sign D-1 scholarships. The talent was crazy. We used to joke that we could beat half the college teams in alabama. I left that job to take a position at a d-3 school (we played against Ithaca College a couple times). DIII has no athletic scholarships and the guys on our team were generally a step slower and a few inches too short to get offers from bigger schools. However, that same year we got a guy who had started for my former high school team. He played and competed and many times out-competed against those same guys who signed DI scholarships. One day after practice I asked him if he thought our high school team could beat this piddly little DIII team. His reply: "Hell no! They's grown men out here!" I think there is a lot to be said for men who have had YEARS of learning the game, getting stronger mentally and physically. Saban's D would not be run over...he could scheme to slow that down by stacking the box, run blitzes, etc. See what he did against Fournette every year. You would have to pass the ball effectively to score a bunch. I don't think we could score on Buffalo. TL;DR I would say Bills win 27- 12, ( because we ain't got a FG kicker that can make a pro XP)
  2. Sure it is possible for Bama players to be bad people. People are people. Foster: -comes from the projects in a small city, growing up in a drug culture -No father in the home -Gets full scholarship to Alabama -Joins an environment with a Prominent Father figure. -EVERY move is monitored, held accountable for practically every class/practice/meeting/workout. -Makes it through 4 years, earning a college degree, becoming a team leader and voted Permanent Team captain by his peers -Gets drafted and signs for million$ -Moves to a big metropolis, has unlimited funds, nobody watching over him -Gets into trouble this could be many different players at many different college programs. While at Alabama, he received financial planning training, he received life coaching, he received training on public speaking and "building a brand", he received training on proper use of social media, he became a college graduate, he was put into position to earn his fortune. I think at this point, you gotta say that this guy was given every opportunity to be successful, he just chooses not to.
  3. No kidding? I didn't even realize that, I knew he wasn't highly recruited coming out of JUCO, but I I figured with all the hype he was POTY or similar. Interesting that coaches in his own conference weren't impressed but the NFL guys went nuts for him. Will be fun to watch his career arc.
  4. There were many games in 2010 where Cam made jaw dropping runs AND throws on their way to the natty...I remember watching him live and thinking that he may be the most athletic qb i had ever seen...
  5. Agreed, but that also works both ways. Allen NEVER played regularly against defenses loaded with nfl talent like AjMac did...
  6. You sir speak the truth...nothing to be argued. Simply stating that there are other qualities and/ormetrics to look at when looking at talent.
  7. Ability to knock a beer can off their dad's head...and run the oompty-oo offense
  8. Oh, I 100% agree. But what else can you base talent on? Looking good vs. air in shorts and helmet, sure you can get an idea, measuring how far you can throw a ball, yes another metric. Josh Allen looks amazing at both of those things. I am not saying anything negative about him. My post was more to the point that don't discount other metrics for measuring talent. Championships, experience, awards, stats, level of competition, winning against NFL competition, playoff experience, etc. vs. Throwing the ball a long way... I just don't buy that you have a guy who has all these accomplishments and accolades, has done it over and over against the best in CFB, is LESS talented than a guy who hasn't... Time will tell and I am looking forward to the competition. Go Bills!
  9. Most talented? Or biggest arm? You've got a a guy with 2 national titles Lost 3 games in three years Finished 2nd in Heisman Voting Won the Maxwell Award as Top College Football Player Won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm award And a guy the SI asked "is he the best ever?"
  10. Greed, but That's not the point. The point is that he has been in the situation and performed well in a clutch situation...which the other two have not...could give him an edge is all I'm saying ...
  11. A couple things that don't get mentioned very often in the discussion of raw physical talent and football IQ, How do players respond under the pressure of the big stage? They 100% know how AJMac responds to that pressure, and possibly have a good idea about Peterman: - People forget AJ all but had a 4th quarter comeback playoff victory vs. the Steelers (until a fumble and couple of bonehead plays by Burfict and Pacman Jones) -In Alabama the 3 most important people are the governor, the coach at Alabama, and the QB at Alabama....not necessarily in that order...his entire life is under a microscope. -AJMac spent college getting cheered, and sometimes booed, by crowds of 100k plus. You gotta have some testicular fortitude to perform on that stage. I think the powers that be have to take into consideration that an inexperienced QB from a small school may need some time to adjust to the biggest stage in sports. He has never had 80k people cheer for him or boo him, he has never thrown a ball against NFL caliber corners with NFL monster defensive linemen barreling down on him....It may be inconsequential, but it could also give AJ a mental edge in the upcoming competition...
  12. S o is it fair to say, that with a rookie, and a question mark at OL, carrying 3 Qb's would be a wise move? Man, roster limits are brutal...
  13. Going to show my NFL ignorance here with what I hope isn't too stupid of a question: How do practice squad QB's work? Assuming the Bills don't keep 3 Qb's on the 53 man roster, would the low man on the totem pole then automatically be relegated to the practice squad? Or would the low man be outright cut, and another PS QB brought in? Hypothetically, If one of the 3 Qb's on the roster was obviously way behind the other 2, would getting work with the PS be beneficial? I can't imagine a 1st round QB has ever been put on a PS, and I would imagine AJMAc would likely hang up the cleats if he doesn't make the 53 man, but what about a guy like Peterman?
  14. Agreed. That's what will be interesting to watch unfold... who got it more right, 60 + college recruiting departments, or the NFL experts.
  15. Based on what exactly? I've watched several of his games from Wyoming. What i saw was a guy that NOT ONE major college program thought he was good enough to offer a scholarship coming out of juco. Also a guy who played against VERY FEW defensive players with nfl talent, compared to those who play in a power 5 conference. How many nfl caliber corners does he see at Wyoming? I like the guys measurable s, he seems like a good kid, and may shock the world, but there is nothing on film that is awe inspiring.
  16. A little nugget in Robert Foster and Levi Wallace... In 2015, Foster was THE man at wideout after having won the job during fall camp. Us Bama fans were super excited about his potential...5 star recruit, blazing fast, he was the heir apparent to Amari Cooper. Early in the season he suffered a torn rotator cuff diving for the ball... it required season ending surgery. Another young receiver, Calvin Ridley, grabbed the reigns and never let them go... Levi Wallace is a great story. His Dad was military, but grew up inTuscaloosa, al. When it got time for Levi to go to school, his dad wanted him to visit Bama, where he decided to walk on. After a couple of years grinding, he was awarded a scholarship and wonn the starting job at CB. Last year the day before the spring game, his father succumbed to lou gherigs (i think). The family had decided not to tell Levi until afterwards, as it was his big moment to finally start. Unfortunately he found out about his dad's passing from all the condolences on his Twitter feed. He decided to play the game and ended up being manned one of the mvps....
  17. Ha. Grew up a 'fins fan, quit watching all together in mid nineties when bills were winning afc every year, Moved to Tn, and tried to become a Titans fan, but couldn't make myself...
  18. Well the Bills and Frank Reich did win me a lot of CASH (at the time), with a little comeback over the oilers...I got nothing else... but looking forward to many more memorable Bills wins!
  19. Maybe! Long haul from Tn. Though...off to find any Bills fan clubs around here with GAMEDAY get togethers...and to find a retro Cornelius Bennett jersey!
  20. Well this whole process from the day AjMac was signed until now has been very entertaining and educational for a guy who doesn't normally pay much attention to the NFL, and I can say 100% that I will be pulling hard for the Bills this season. I was surprised at the qb pick last night, as there was a possible opportunity to make a big "splash" by moving way up and getting one of the can't miss prospects. Instead Allen was the pick, and I can honestly say I am not sure if he would have started for any of the teams that finished in the top 25. BUT, if you could design an ideal qb in a simulator, he would probably look a lot like Allen. I personally think there is a 0% chance he can beat out AjMac in a straight up competition. This guy has won championships at every level he has played, Pop Warner through to the best competition in college...he has the "it" factor, and I think the billsmafia will be pleasantly surprised. There was NEVER a legit qb competition in Cincy. Having said that, if Josh Allen wins the job, I will cheer for him just as hard. I love the idea of a guy coming from relative obscurity to Perform at a high level... So regardless of what happens, I am now a fully converted Bills fan. Let's shock the world this year!
  21. I just find it amazing that Josh Allen, who many projected as the first overall pick, was not offered ONE scholarship from a power five school. Not one out of high school, not one out of Juco. Surely he didn't develop his ideal measurables overnight...It will be interesting to watch his development, because either a whole bunch of college coaches were wrong, or a whole bunch of Pro scouts were wrong. For Bills fans, I hope it was the college scouts. I wonder if the "controversial" tweets were discovered by college scouts back in the day, and that contributed to not getting any offers.
  22. Serious question , is it even a "legit" competition after the price they paid? Maybe allen is better...aj finished 3rd in the heisman playing in sec....allen didn't even get recruited by a power 5...
  23. Name one team in the top 25 that this kid could have started for...
  24. This Allen kid would not have made the team at alabama....or any power 5 school...maybe carried a water bottle...
  25. Never heard the skin to skin thing with my two, BUT they did let me know that the drops or goop they put in their eyes right after birth will stain my shirt...happened with both of mine...didn't care in the least.
